Players with nothing to train don't play for much longer. Look at WoW, they hit their level ceiling and the only way to keep them entertained is to do some graphics touchups and encourage them to gank each other (as much gank as there is in WoW, mind you.)
This is a pretty good line of reasoning in most MMOs, but not so much in EVE. EVE is a lot more about the meta-game. Scamming, PvP, Alliance vs Alliance, griefing, etc are the interesting parts of EVE, not leveling up. In something like WoW you play to make numbers go up. In EVE you play for the interactions that occur in the game.
I agree. My brother is starting a new account, but if you think about the time, energy, and money it would take to start a new character in Eve, you're almost better off just buying a new one on the forums.
Nothing more annoying than seeing a high level character without a whit of common sense or a clue what they're doing because they've bought their way to the endgame without learning the basics.
Imagine an EVE full of Jenny Spitfires...
This is my sig, there are many others just like it. With me, my sig is worthless. Without (or with even) my sig, I am worthless... |

EVE is a lot like RL in that respect.
You can't be a doctor and a lawyer and a cop and a teacher and a businessman and a trucker and a scientist all in one lifetime. You can, however, become a darn good brain surgeon and cut the heads off all the lawyers and truckers you come across.
Or whatever.

So what does that convert to for the absolute maximum skill points if you were to train everything available right now?

If you add up all the skills in the character page (use settings to show all skills) it has 256 skills, so where did the other 1514 skills go? Just curious.

I'm not sure what the total amount of skill points are after learning all that. Eve mon does not say. What I did notice, however, is that in the game the highest level of clone you can buy has around 92 mil skilpoints. So I am assuming that this is the most, if not close to the most possible. I think the "1707" skills include each specific level of a skill. For instance, cruise missiles one is considered its own skill from cruise missiles two. That must be what Eve Mon means by 1707 skills. Because you are right, there aren't that many.
