If a company can't make money, what right does it have to stay in business? At the expense of the artists?

The President has nearly no control over the Copyright Royalty Board. George B. is not to blame for this, try again.

At the expense of studio executives sounds good to me. Too bad they will have to cut back their spending habits and not buy a supercar every year =(
And what the hell are you talking about companies making money. These radio stations aren't companies just as the Red Cross isn't a company. If anything, they're organizations.
The music industry wants control over the radio stations. Cutting down their numbers is the first step. Once that's done it'll be easy to jack up prices further and buy them out more or less. Then voila, you control the ears of the people and you use it to help advertisers hawk their useless crap, or advance the political ends that benefits your industry. Go watch Fox News for an hour and tell me what I say isn't true.

Ha!!! Why are you crying about the music industry? 9 out of 10 albums they publish is utter crap! We need a good housecleaning to get rid of all this garbage. I listen to tons of music, and I haven't turned on my radio in years. I haven't listened to internet radio either. I think people are making a big deal about this. Adapt or die, isn't that what everyone says over in General Discussion? I

Well one of their gripes was included in the article:
Quote: - Terrestrial AM and FM stations in the USA pay absolutely nothing, for recording industry royalties due to a law made in consideration of promotion value that playing provides in return.
They're not ****ed because they didn't know that they might get lumped with royalties, they're ****ed because they thought that they were immune by law.
And imo, an organisation that will inherently struggle to turn a profit should be included in a law specifically designed to protect small and under funded radio stations. If not, the whole web radio industry could face extinction. --------

Whatever. I'm either listening to music legally though these online stations (which DOES help the recording industry profit more, just as much as normal radio) or I'm getting it all through P2P networks and the recording industry doesn't get jack ****.
