Some ideas, comment, add please:
- Removal of instant jump bookmarks.
- Deep space scanner with warp-to ability.
- A way to kick out war enemies from stations / attack them in the stations.
- A way to confiscate a war enemies stuff from stations.
- War declaration limit of at least 10. After a period (1-3 month) with no ship losses to each other the ongoing war should stop automaticly.
- One should be able to join a meta corp (alliance) and this meta corp should be able to declare wars on other corps / meta corps as well. There should be a few weeks timer for leaving a meta corp, so people don't hop as they do it in corps.
- Leaving a corp should only be possible once a few weeks. Every character could be able to do 1-3 urgent corp leaves. -- Stories: #1 --

Doesn't seem to have occurred to you that not everyone in the game is here to PvP.

Edited by: Cael on 11/01/2004 04:01:09 Enforcing would completely wreck the new commers as they just can't compete with combat fit cruisers and/or BS'. EvE should instead use a open/close pvp "status" that would allow someone to change his PvP status only once every day and/or after 1 hour without any PvP activity (to prevent abuses...)
lol Baldour that was a fast reply...
Oh damn those carebears, don't they know that this isn't the sims in space!

Erm, and what do you want? Forum entertainment? A mining simulator?
EVE has been advertised as a game with a strong PvP component, though it made a few good steps it needs to go further to fullfil its promises.
It's time to finally add player owned and captureable structures to non empire space or (since everyone is doing agent missions or strip mining in empire space) to add more sanctionated wars and abilities to go through a war in empire space.
BTW counterstrike in space is a biased opinion, everyone should be entitled to do what ever he wants to do in this game. I don't enforce playstyles, but I'd like to express myself in the playstyle I want to play and even in a FPS there is a plenty of ways to do it.
As for the new players, they could stay in noob corps or newly created corps wouldn't be able to get targetted by war declarations for a given amount of time (would have to be checked with corp leave timer to prevent exploiting).
We declared a war to a 100 dudes corp today. If we do it to three corps we get around 3 (corps) x 6 (active) people we can shoot in empire space out of 5000. You call it Counterstrike in space? -- Stories: #1 --

Killing people inside stations? I love the idea but how to make it work? go into an fps mode?

ya "component" not the foundation, you want a lot of pvp, declare war and dont use any alts to move around eve...

Sally you should¦ve opened this one in idea labs. People tend to act a little more mature there instead of behaving like the trolling, flaming and whining bunch they actually are...
About your suggestions:
Quote:
- Removal of instant jump bookmarks.
Hmmm... no. I¦d rather want deployable warpcore destabilizers that pull a ship out of warp and those warpdisruptor fields they promised with castor.
Quote:
- Deep space scanner with warp-to ability.
Sorry... no again I¦d rather want bugs and a few more methods to scan for people. And I want to be able to toggle local chat on/off. Local still removes 90% of any surprise element you have as a fleet/team/whatever.
Quote:
- A way to kick out war enemies from stations / attack them in the stations.
All stations are NPC stations. In player owned stations this should be possible or you should at least be able to deny docking for those you hate. On NPC stations however this wouldn¦t make sense as it would be counterproductive to deny docking for potential customers for the holding NPC-corp.
Quote:
- A way to confiscate a war enemies stuff from stations.
With what kind of justification?
Quote:
- War declaration limit of at least 10. After a period (1-3 month) with no ship losses to each other the ongoing war should stop automaticly.
Hope I got that right (10 days for war declaration)... but I don¦t see why it should be 10 days. A little long don¦t you think? I mean... 10 days?... 5 days would be ok for me, but then again I fail to see the point why the vote should last longer than 24h?
Quote:
- One should be able to join a meta corp (alliance) and this meta corp should be able to declare wars on other corps / meta corps as well. There should be a few weeks timer for leaving a meta corp, so people don't hop as they do it in corps.
Standing-based shipicons will come soon so there you (and me) will have a good way of doing the whole "alliance/enemy tagging" thing at least in 0.0 space. The whole alliance stuff people are longing for is far out of reach IMHO. Just think about all the stuff you¦d have to implement to make it work.
Quote:
- Leaving a corp should only be possible once a few weeks. Every character could be able to do 1-3 urgent corp leaves.
Yup... totally right. I mean... leaving a corp should always be possible, but not joining. IMHO there should be at least 5 days as a limit between leaving and joining player-owned corps.
Cheers.

- Removal of instant jump bookmarks.
Absolutely even if I hate been ganked, bookmarks are stupid. Would hurt you stinky pirates too.
- Deep space scanner with warp-to ability.
This would be awesome, will work against you once again. In addition to this we need to open up space a little bit more, being able to switch off warp during warp or activate warp without a destination would also be fun. Coupled with tracking and "warp to player", this would make for nice chases
- War declaration limit of at least 10. After a period (1-3 month) with no ship losses to each other the ongoing war should stop automaticly.
I think this would be a bad idea, corps have producers, miners and so on who aren't cut out skillswise for pvp vs people like you. They need to protected and this would allow you to camp and lockdown a large proportion of players in a region if you did your homework and declared war on the 10 largest corps based in that region.
- Leaving a corp should only be possible once a few weeks. Every character could be able to do 1-3 urgent corp leaves.
Or simply on declaration of war, have anyone in a corp flagged as killable with the flag expiring after a set period from the time they leave corp ie I leave my corp to escape war however i'm still killable by you for 2 days afterwards.

about the station problem:
What about to make menceries , which you can hire of 24 hours to camp a station and have attack option on 1 player or 1 corp.
i think 10 BS around a station could be nice :P

To satisfy all the PvP ers out there who want to kill anything in sight & really want to remove all the players but them
This is the list I can come up with
- Instant kill weapons... one shot & you are dead
- Ability to shoot things while gatecamping without coming out of cloak.
- Ability to stay cloaked indefinatly while camping gate
- Ability to activate cloak manually
- No change in ratings when podding players
- While cloaked, Concord cant find you
- No message or report of who killed you or why
- Invurability device (low slot & no energy drain). Unit costs 1 isk and requires 1 cpu & 1 power grid.
- Device to shut down all engines, remove all cap, disable all weapons and remove all defense elements from remote ship.
/sarcasum_off
If PvP'ers have the ability to find you anywhere, the ability to kill you without being checked and the ability to stop you from travelling from A-B with ease then this game will die VERY quickly.
If pirates and PvP'ers cant be bothered to try and stop people running away using current methods then LEARN, there are ways around insta-jumps. The ability to kick players from stations is the same as me breaking into your house to ask you a question. THIS IS NOT LEGAL so why put it in a game.
If all the PvP request are meat, I wont be around very long & most of the people I know on eve wont be either.

They will never give warp to ability learn to use the scanner fit a mwd and take some time you will find a safe spot with a quick add bookmark finger. then all you have to do is mwd into that grid hey presto, hope there afk.
It can take forever or be really quick depending on your method of traingulation.
But your war things seem a little weird. Maybe a better option would be to only have people dock who have a office at that station and all others a time limit on docking,, i.e after 1 hour they get a the shunt 100km from any object
Im not sure on confiscating stuff that seems totally bizare. "Teh lord of Nonni"

Experienced PvP'ers would have no problem with this - this would allow us to kick the pirates out of their beloved stations also.
I just don't think Eve is all about PvP so I doubt any of these changes will ever happen.

Edited by: John Zeppe on 11/01/2004 11:02:58 - Removal of instant jump bookmarks. . Agree.
- Deep space scanner with warp-to ability. . Agree.
- A way to kick out war enemies from stations / attack them in the stations. . No. There must be SOME place in this universe where you can safely log off (some people has to do that you know :P)
- A way to confiscate a war enemies stuff from stations. . Like... Hangar theft? No. (Think alt thieves declaring war...)
- War declaration limit of at least 10. After a period (1-3 month) with no ship losses to each other the ongoing war should stop automaticly. . I don't agree with this either. Why would someone want to fight 10 corps at once? 3 is a fine limit as long as you can end the wars.
- One should be able to join a meta corp (alliance) and this meta corp should be able to declare wars on other corps / meta corps as well. There should be a few weeks timer for leaving a meta corp, so people don't hop as they do it in corps. . Agree.
- Leaving a corp should only be possible once a few weeks. Every character could be able to do 1-3 urgent corp leaves. . AGREE. *looks at Falzone's corp history*
Edit: Doh, I left the at the end.

Just a quick thought about PvP.
Why is it that everyone assumes that the meaning of PvP is combat only.
Player vs Player can also mean different areas like production etc.
Any area where you are competing against other players is PvP
Maybe I need more coffee to wake up

Agreed, at least the insta-jump bookmarks. it totally removes the need for armed escort of haulers.
Quote:

Yeah i think i agree, but might end up with constant warping from point to point in space...
Quote:

No station should be left as is, else on those momnet when my skill is about to ping - so i do a real quick login at work to change skill... would be really bad if i could then be dragged out into a fight Also has to be some place to sit and be safe and smack talk the enemy
Quote:

hmm, think that would end up with alot of petitions, maybe if when we get player stations and one group of players totally take over a station they get all good in the station,
Quote:

think it should more be that you can only re-join a corp after a week or so, or maybe to leave a corp you have to go to the corp hq and resign,
and yeah as been said, EvE maybe PvP based but not all players want to be forced down the PvP route,

@Sally:
They want a mining simulator. They dont realize that EVE dies without pvp. But: we have 2004 - i am 31 years old, i am a sci-fi fan, i love the star wars battle scenes, especially the old Star Wars films. Maybe it will nedd till i am 40 years old: the day will come that good programmers write the code for a game that makes it possible to have fun. EVE was a first good try - others will follow.

- Removal of instant jump bookmarks.
A deployable object is comming wich will allow you to force people to drop out of warp further from gates. They aparently will cost quite a bit and you will need several of them to cover every angle. I guess its not what you want as you cant run away when the law comes without loosing the deployables.
- Deep space scanner with warp-to ability.
As far as I can gather it is coming in elite frigates of the scout type.
- A way to kick out war enemies from stations / attack them in the stations.
First could we have stations deny access to people with bad standings, if you have -5 or less sec rating why would a station allow you to dock if not simply to arrest you.
- A way to confiscate a war enemies stuff from stations.
First allow people to confiscate stuff from people with -5 or worst sec rating, they are outlaws, corp wars are none of stations buisness.
- War declaration limit of at least 10. After a period (1-3 month) with no ship losses to each other the ongoing war should stop automaticly.
hmm, I agree with the latter part, dont realy see why the limit on wars should be raised to 10, you will just fill all the slots and ask for even more. However you should be able to onesidedly end a war.
- One should be able to join a meta corp (alliance) and this meta corp should be able to declare wars on other corps / meta corps as well. There should be a few weeks timer for leaving a meta corp, so people don't hop as they do it in corps.
First, leaving a corp should take time, there is alot of paperwork you know, say a day.
As for meta corps... why dont you just call them alliances, alliances thus far in eve are loosely formed groups who share a common goal (claim a region, destroy a corp, hunt pirates, kill haulers and frigates...).
As long as alliances are corps loosely bound together like that you cant have controls to govern them, if CCP creates tools to create alliances then we can talk about it.
- Leaving a corp should only be possible once a few weeks. Every character could be able to do 1-3 urgent corp leaves.
Agree wholeheartedly, however by simply imposing a timed delay for leaving the corp you wont have to limit it weekwize, Im sure you want this due to people leaving their corps first in the middle of battle but now that that is not possible they dock and leave their corp to avoid a war.
Well If you have to remain in the corp you are in for say 24hrs before you are officially out of the corp then this is not a problem.
Lastly Sally, how did you find Gibsons books? Im sure you are named after Sally in one of them ... Monalisa Overdrive?
Oh well say hello to Molly for me if this is not you aswell :)

I'm all for alliances given that their considerable threat to the empires and megacorporations render them the standing they deserve towards them.
Yes, that'd mean regardless of a whole alliance trying to annihilate a 20 man corporation they still have to watch their asses for faction fleets and Concord when in empire controlled space.

No Im very much for pvp, but I dont want those that dont want to pvp, (as pvp fighting isnt all there is to this game, so grow up and realise that) to be ganked whenever you want to gank them. I mean come on "Kick them outa stations" thats a ridiculous idea, thats just saying, I want them to play on my terms or ill kick them outa their safespot and destroy em for not complying to my wants.
Think of some better more fairer ideas where theres a chance to run, but also a chance to be caught.
Oh hang on thats the current state eve is in at the moment.
It needs some work but your ideas are ridiculous and as I said, promoting the fact you just want to be able to gank who you want when you want.
