The call to arms came 48 hours before the initial battle that took place in Utopia, with our pilots scattered among the stars; we initialized our logistics and grabbed what we could. We headed down to the Empire platform in readiness for our first 0.0 contract since the KIA Alliance had formed.
What a wakeup call we hadą.
I have already covered the initial battle in another thread, so I wonĘt go into that again here. Outbreak showed their metal in that encounter, and KIA realised that this was going to be no walk in the park. It was also quickly realised that using the Derelik region as a base of Ops was not going to work for us, as Outbreak cunningly declared war on us, which made getting the rest of the KIA assets into place difficult.
We were asked to move into Catch, which for the most part was a simple task, our carriers ran day and night moving ships and equipment from Empire to the new base, but the question of battleships was an issue. We called into action ęOperation Benny HillĘ to move a large number of nano fitted Battleships through in a comedy fashion; but some pilots did not get the memo and kept a tank fitting, the fleet is only as fast as its slowest ship, and after foolishly hanging around to engage a scout, they soon got trapped in curse by a lightening fast Outbreak reaction.
This was the turning point for our operation; we had not fully understood the way that Outbreak operates as a corporation. Their numbers can seem manageable, yet swell within virtually seconds when a threat/opportunity arises. I personally saw Utopia go from 8-9 pilots to 30 within a 5 minute period at one point, all Outbreak, all ready to fight.
The other issue we had from the second day of the contract was our battle hardened figurehead, the primary FC and basic glue of our Alliance (yeah, I could have just said KIAEddz, but I donĘt think even KIA realised how much he means to us when he is not about) had been dragged off by the RL monster.
We were stuck, with low numbers and under par ships. We did our best, but Outbreak soon showed us that this was just not good enough. Every attempt at a fleet operation we put together was literally shredded by Outbreak fleets that were fielded purely to kill what we had managed to assemble, and they were deadly effective.
We fielded a number of Operations during the contract, mostly a collaboration between KIA and IAC.
Most Notable engagements
The 18/5/07 1P-WGB engagement when we stood defiant in our T1 cruiser/BC inty gang against a Battleship/Commandship Outbreak fleetą.that was a giggle. Bad intel 4tw :P
On the 20th of May, we got together a combined fleet to go for a scrap, everything was coming together nicely. Then in F4R2-Q local we saw ōFriendly Cynoöą..wait a minute, that is a BoB pilotąand another oneąby that time, it was too late. A BoB Covert uncloaked above the gate and then on our Teamspeak ōGuysą..I think I have just been DDd, not sure, but there are a LOT of wrecksö One man wins 4tl.
Then was the 27/5/07 battle in Litom, I can only say that I was not in system, but on Teamspeak, and I could hear the losses being posted in my mind before it even startedą Outbreaks tactics in conventional fleet battles are a treat to watch, if you are not on the other side
Pls Dont reply, more to come yet...

Edited by: Necronomicon on 06/06/2007 09:03:27 The Final Countdown
At the back end of last week, we decided that we would have one last scrap, something to tell our grandkids of. The plan was a good old fashioned dust up.
KIA ran a gang out from shortly after downtime, our numbers were better than usual, and there was a good bit of fighting to be had in Doril in the afternoon with a few losses on both sides, salutes to SAS for coming to play as well.
We assembled an 80 man fleet on Sunday evening, IAC numbers were amazing considering the hour notice we gave them. The order was simple ū this will most likely be a one way trip, but what the hell. We arrived in Litom, there was no way we would engage them in Utopia, as we knew that their HQ housed enough equipment to allow them to refit and escalate this past our means. We wanted them to bring their fleet to Litom and fight.
Tick Tocką
Nothing happened for a while, numbers grew in Utopia, at their peak they had equal numbers to us, and we were expecting their usual command/battleship gang that they prefer in this situation, but it wasnĘt coming.
Then one of our scouts spotted the BoB Titan in Heminąagain. The gang started to feel uneasy. We gave Outbreak 90 minutes to make a move, by the time I called the operation over; all we had seen in Litom was a BoB Covops, and an Outbreak Cyno alt.
We had no choice but to leave, our previous large Op had been scuppered by the arrival of a DD delivered by a rogue corporation within our allies, and I was not going to let it happen again.
Summary
The involvement of BoB on your part has been a massive talking point for us. Various tinfoil moments made us overly cynical about what we could ever accomplish against you with their support. I will not go into that any further, but it did have a large psychological effect on us, so it worked ;)
That asideąOutbreak, you are a superb PvP force, and have commanded the utmost respect from KIA, there has been virtually zero smack, and even on the forums, your attitude has been exemplary.
Outbreak set the bar for PvP performance, no one we have encountered come even close to their organisational and in battle skills. We hope to re test ourselves at some point in the very near future, to be the best you have to beat the best, hats off OB, very nice idd.
The number on our kill boards speak for themselves. Aside from the Moros, in which we played a key role, so will accept partial credit for its demise; we did not fair well.
We also want to take the time to publicly apologise to the client that we were unable to provide the service that was expected of us. But in our defence, even the client did not know what Outbreak were capable of before we started.
Anyway, we are off to dry out, after 3 long weeks in the party capital of Eve. Thanks for reading, and please guys remember, every time an alt smacks, God kills a kitten.
Carlsberg dont make Eve Pilots, but if they did, i wouldnt be one of them.

Outbreak earned my respect the "Easy" way. By coming to our aid in what was undoubtably our darkest hour.
Watching them operate was a pleasure and a privilage. Even though we may one day be shooting at one another there is nothing that will remove the respect they earned.
Big props once again to KIA who are not afraid of publically stating facts instead of hiding behind the usual smoke, mirrors and bluster which make up 99% of CAOD post.
Well done to both sides.

Just a couple points: We are not blue to BoB nor was his appearance in Litom to do with us.
Unfortunately on that day we had something else planned, by the time we could go fight you guys you had stood down, bad timing ftl, I am sure it would have been a blast.
Best of luck on your next contract

Seeing better pvp against you only helps you get better... I see it alot
A bad contract is only really bad if you haven't learned from it.
I look forward to the vids when Tri/ Snigg are taken on and that could only be by outbreak and BoB. They will be the best pvp vids the game will ever see.
Good luck on your next one.

A nice write up, very good to read. It was always going to a tough contract.
By the way, I don't think the appearance of a few BoB pilots here and there mean they are working with Outbreak. I think you're reading too much into things.

Nice to see an honest and well written account in this forum, instead of the usual dross. And nice to see mutual respect between enemies.
However I suspect a flurry of alt posts is on it's way any moment now......

Best of luck, cant even begin to exspress not being let off the leash for that last fight but we do our best to honer plans. The boss even had to sedate me since all the foam coming from my mouth was making his carpit smell. I think we were pushing the biggest amount of outbreak players online this year and in the end we missed both...
Nice report, confirms to me that u are a class bunch and deffinatly nearly turned the capitol fight on its head for us. In a way that first battle decided alot, if there had been 3 or more dred/carrier losses for OB the locals would have been alot more chirpy and motivated.

It is my suspision that Outbreak has a high level "Molle" in their ranks. Behind the curtains Bob is running the show as Outbreak alway's seem to support their running operations. So you guesst it right although they will deny it.

We do, He's called Marko Debreault. And as for BoB running support, Why the idiots who pedal this nonsense can't look up Outbreak on BoB's killboard and vice versa I don't know.
Enough of the derailment though. Hat's off KIA, good luck in the future. ------------------

Too bad I could not take part in any of this. ISP has basicly refused to give any explanation why 10 day delivery time for broadband has now taken over month now. So far I have not gotten any date for the broadband or any reason for the whole mess.
What comes to Outbreak, they seem to be the hall of fame of certain era of FIX pilots. So many familiar names. So many good pilots. So many memories :)

The engagements were still fun, the contract was still very much appreciated by our client, who no doubt would of loved us to stay on, we provided pretty much what they wanted, but the reality is we know we didnt give this our best shot, and no one is harder on oursleves than we are.
I wasnt online much for those 3 weeks, RL has been hard for me of late with a few personal issues, but unfortunatley this coincided with other CEOs offline time, and even most of our normal FCs were unavailable. The KIA that stepped up were in for a hell of a ride, in over their heads, and basically ****ing in the wind against an opponent of strength and depth.
That said, even at full strength we know in our hearts we are not quite on the level of OB, people that think they are on of a few outfits at that level are wrong, these guys are head and shoulders above everyone in small fleet engagements. They have numbers instantly, they can raise cap ships and support and backup so quickly its astounding, and tactically they are superb.. KIA didnt have the numbers to take them on and give them the fight they deserved, but we have learnt a lot from this, and a few weeks on Sisi and we will be in a far better position next time ;)
Nice OB, much respect and well deserved props, you guys are the pinnacle that the rest of us are working towards right now, but don't take this mail as anything more than we know what we have to do and we are already working on it ;)
Thx to IAC for showing us yet another entity that truly knows the meaning of enjoying EVe. Always a pleasure to hang with you guys for a few weeks.

Massive Props to all of KIA involved in this contract, and most of all Thank you for such Kind words and and excellent unbiased post-contract report. If anything your not giving yourselves the credit you can be doing.
1. You brought it down to curse 0.0 in the first instance. 2. Had Internal problems, and yet you still brought it. 3. Kept it clean and professional before and after fights. 4. Dug In Deep and got on with the Job at hand no matter what, when others would have turned and burned. 5. Hopefully gained a Lot of experience and I hope respect as a merc corp from outside entities that no matter who the contract is against you would still be there for them. 6. Made such an awesome banner
Stay Safe and all the best on your next contract guys.
