So wows new expansion for 49.99 looks like a cross of WoW with kung-fu panda. Seriously its almost as if they want their game to die now. |

WoW will never die. It will just be recreated 5,000 times by the MMO industry. |

WoW release date: Nov 2004. The game has been out for seven years now. Someone who was 5 years old in 2004 is now 12 years old.
Blizzard might be trying to attract new/young blood with the new expansion.

Wait... that's seriously the next expansion? I always thought Blizzard frequently went overboard with their idea of humor, but naming an entire expansion after the goofy panda people really takes the cake. |

I actually like the idea more as time goes by. It's definitely silly and initially even shocking to see, but it's also different from what they've done before. If done properly it just might be the what WoW desperately needs now that people have started to become increasingly bored with it and the constant regurgitation of the same content. Or it will suck horribly and be another nail in it's coffin. Both outcomes are good in my book. |

They're also adding pokemon battles and training with your pets.
Could be worse though. Could be the same old **** with a reused baddie from previous expansions.

Pretty much gave up on it now.
While the core game got more refined over the years, the actual content became a joke. The atmosphere of the game is lost entirely, Blizzard has no clue where to go with the lore aside from an ending battle with Sargeras (making that an LFR raid will be a total joke....), making the game feel incredibly disjointed.
While WotLK was the beginning of the end, Blizz actually looked up the word "consistency" for it and up untill Ulduar (before 3.2) the game actually felt alive. After 3.2 and the argent championship debacle Blizz set the tone of where they want to take the game. Basically, they just put out the best content patch they've ever made, the best raid they've ever made, and then just went "meh" and went back to the Molten Core model of raid design, aswell as making everything about raids as far as pve is concerned.
The overzealous integration with PvP that started with arenas in TBC went completely overboard and actually hurts the entire game - Rather than making pvp and pve distinct playstyles they insist on having everyhting work the same everywher,e or so they say, as they still make some abilities behave differently in pvp than in pve. They've created the ultimate balancing nightmare by refusing to make it simple for themselves, not trusting their players to have at least a little bit of intelligence and common sense, and thus sending the community into a vicious circle of disheartening the good members and inviting the bad ones.
WoW is easy to pick up, yes, but at the moment i can't even really recommend it to new players due to it's massively schizophrenic nature. SWTOR does everything it needs to do for new players and it does it better. Hell, even EQ2, despite it's horrible graphics and still somewhat rough edges, manages to outgame WoW nowadays by simply staying true to it's roots and offering some genuine challenge aswell as features that Blizzard hasn't managed to put in their game despite having almost 100x the budget and manpower.
Untill very recently, WoW was actually quite good. LFR/4.3 and MoP however have shown what direction Blizzard wants to take the game in and tbh, it's not a good one, not for anyone involved. Sad, the game used to be at least a little fun :/ |

Thats what i am saying, I kind of love and hate the game, I do love some of the back story that blizz gave some of the original content especially Uldaman, uldum and ulduar, aq area and what not. Also the troll lore of Zul'Aman, Zul'gurub and the others you know when you start questing at a low level and the quests lead to the raid with a huge and bloody backstory. But recently the lore is just silly and all over the place, this just adds to it. No consistant lore and no long term lore to it. |

Yep, seriously, the old republic is probably going to take up the mantle and fool anyone who hasn't played a game older than five years.
I looked at a demo by the guys who were making it and I honestly was o_O ..... Wait a minute, tanking? Damage dealing? In a Star Wars MMO? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! |

Currently, WoW is hemorrhaging subscriptions almost as badly as SWG did with the NGE expansion. The effects are just less dramatic due to WoWs current subscription number size.
This pokemon and kung fu panda ripoff expansion will not help things.
I know there's been doomsayers left and right claiming WoW is dying, but it is actually happening right now and we're witnessing it. Like my post? Made you laugh or think? Maybe even offended or nausiated you? Then give a Like. They're free and oh so easy to give. |

Honestly if wow "dies" it will simply be relegated to the same niche UO and then EQ1 were placed when it was their time.
I just wish the ultimate crapftes that SWTOR is dethrones it, simply because in a sense, if polished wow clones replace wow slowly, we will eventually mutate into new types of MMO's by sheer serendipity.
Since the MMO industry is having an obscene hard on by emulating all things wow, when they begin to emulate all things SWTOR or RIFT which are simply WOW 2.0 we can then safely extrapolate that over time MMO's will have a newer base ground to copy that is NOT WoW.
In the same vein that some of the early WOW devs were hardcore EQ1 gamers, and injected some ideas into it, in about 10 more years the MMO industry will be something quite diff from the utter turd it is now (I hope, with a bit of sarcasm).
I'm still waiting for my Johnny Mnemonic MMO/General PC Interfacing ... Hope I can use something like that before I die. Inner Sayings of BrujoLoco: http://eve-files.com/sig/brujoloco |
