hello there i have a problem, a big one infact - pertaining to using amarr in pvp. t2 med lasers, check fully t2 tank, check able to fit a harb//proph entirely t2? check.
getting wtfbbqpwned as soon as i engage anything? check.
currently operating on a loss trying to do anything with amarr based setups, gank is inefficient against the majority of stuff i run into, and all that my tank means is that more of my enemies get onto the kill mail :(
i am able to fly all t1 ships in the game, upto battleship, all t2 frigs but apart from lasers have no t2 weapon capabilities beyond small sized weapons (and not projectiles)
what should i do? - hit me with all your ideas and suggestions to help this carebear out :)

Beam geddon Ammar ships don't have the cap to both gank and tank, so just go all out gank on there gank ships.

lets see. . .
the nessisary support skills to 5? The two cap skills in Engeneering and Controlled Bursts to 5.
After that, to play the ship in a gang, possibly at some kind of range - open your range to your X-Ray ranges and play that field well. When you load in Multi-specs, remember that all your targets need to die before you cap out. . .if you start with Multies, you are asking to die. (or gleam for that matter.)
Fly Amarr like they are meant t0, if you want to play the close range game, train Gallente.

Amarr ships are both SP-intensive and gang-oriented, and (unfortunately for you) their BS shine more that any of the other ship classes.
You need to run with chums to get the most out of Amarr really.

Without knowing exactly what your trying to do pvp wise its hard for me to give good advice but I fly a fair bit of amarr and here are my thoughts:
Arbitrator: small gang, low sec piracy works like gem with good drone skills. rough set up high: 2x med nos, 1x small neut, 1x whatever med: 1x mwd, 1x 20k scram, 1x web, 1x td low: 1x mar, 1x dmg control, 1x eanmm 1x bigest plate you can fit
Maller: gang suport/bait ship heavy tank high: 5x small beam lasers tec2 1x med nos med: 1x mwd, 1x 20k scarm, 1x cap booster/web as you like low: 1x mar2, 1x dmg control, 2x eanm, 1x biggest plate you can fit
Omen: small dang dps high: 4x medium focused pulse lasers med: 1x mwd, 1x 20k scram, 1x web low: 1x small rep, 3x heatsink2, 1x dmg control
Harbinger: uber tank in small gang u jump in play bait your friend kill before u go down high: 7x focused medium pulse 1x med nos med: 1x ab, 1x 20k scram, 1x web, 1x cap booster low: 1x mar, 1x dmg control, 1x reactive membrane, 2x eanm, 1x 1600mm plate
prophecy: i used as a cheap fleet ship... not a great set up honestly but since you won't be primaried it works high: 6x med beams (can't rember what size go with what fits) 1x heavy missle launcher med: 1x sensor booster, 1x tracking comp, 1x web low: 1x mar, 1x dmg control, 3x eanm, 1x biggest plate you can fit
as for drones on all of them ('cept the arbi) i like ew drones but its your call.
no promises on these meeting your needs and i haven't flown some of these in a while and i'm doing it out of game from memory but hope one of these works for you. ------- Even my barge has kills... |

EASY FIX....
Train Amarr Recons and WTF'BBQ just about any ship 1 vs 1....One thing amarr have going for them is their recons, both Pilgrim and Curse are awsome ships, Curse being in a class of its own....

Get AWU up a couple of levels and get a beam crusader. Good thing about it is that if you feel things aren't going your way (i.e they warp in a blob for your little interceptor), you can disengage (unless they've got a huginn, but you should have been outa there before the huginn can even lock you tbh). ----------------------------------------------

Get an Arbitrator. It's an excellent small cheap ship. Then set your sights on flying an Absolution for gangs and Abaddon for solo. Win.

thanks for the input guys, been experimenting with an arbitrator - busy beefing my drone skillz up at the minute sigh
also am i right in thinking that the recon's cannot fit a covops cloak + nos?, im a good month of flyig a curse myself but it would be nice to know if i should drop that train of though and train direct for something else

so by that note - how is a curse so effective? or do you just use a standard cloak for hiding after a gank?
im confused

curse and pilgrim are very different ships.
pilgrim sneaks up and armor tanks, curse just zooms around nano'd and has a much longer range. also it can pack more nos.
as for after a gank, either dock up or jsut keep moving around safespots ---------------------------------------------

Maybe your setup ?
What are you using ? The Harbinger is a very good ship, what I usually see is people flying amarr ships completly outbalanced.

Id say fly the geddon Trimarked up to the max with full gank and some 60k total tanked hp.
That should change the outcome in most situations

God saves you if something faster then your recon attacks you.
Like week before, I was testing my damage on corp-mates Curse. It popped before I could deactivate my guns when it was in speed setup.
If you have speed above 2-3km/sec and a web, you can catch at least half of those. If you have faction web or Huggin....even better. ---

stop engaging groups in a harbinger?
try only attacking 1 opponent at first and then ur tank means u don't die

I think the main problem here is that you are AMARR.

I'll say. High-speed sensor dampener NOSing drone boat. Sheer win.

True, but that's more about knowing what ships can beat yours and engaging accordingly. No matter how fast they are at the start of the fight they'll still be out of cap extremely fast if you play it right (and if you're not getting mobbed of course.)

Dont fly solo, and try out dual heavy beam t2 with tracking/damage mods. You can hit just about anything within 25km and have incredible DPS. One 1600 plate and a mwd, some t2 light drones and a NOS and your set.

Often helps if the curse is moving... tis the entire idea behind a speed tank.

That which is faster than you will not remain so with no cap but if its a Rapier/Huggin you are better off spending your remaining seconds checking the market for a replacement

What gunz were you using ? and was your corp mate using sensor damps ?
I personaly dont fly the curse, I like the armor tank of the pilgrim coupled with sensor damps and ecm burst. I also like picking my fights.
My favorite thing to do is camp low sec gates and wait for pirates to engage a ship coming through, then I pop out of cloak 3km away from them and hold them down while the sentrys do the rest.

what i meant is that when im in a geddon (dual modulated pulse energy streams) any tank i DO have jsut tends to mean that more of my enemies get on the kill mail... as in more of them turn up to help
