I was docked in a Gelfiven station a while ago when I saw the following chat open up in local. I think Player 1 wanted to trade stuff with his alt but accidentally traded with Player 2 who now has his stuff.
Player 1 > opps Player 1 > was mean for player below u Player 2> nicely fitted too Player 1 > yep
- Long pause
Player 1 > i guess ur gonna keep it my own fault did'nt double check trade window
- Short pause
Player 2> ofcourse not...open a trade with me
- Long pause
Player 1 > thanks alot Player 2> your welcome Player 1 > that will teach me to be more careful Player 2> yes...that was a costly mistake....well could have been Player 1 > well if u need anythink whiich i can get just ask
- Short pause
Player 2> have your alliance set my corp to blue and xxxx x xxx xxx.. Player 1 > np at all Player 2> ty...i set your corp to blue as well MrsPlayer 1 > well the allaince is on the look out for new corps if u every fancy some 0.0 space life convo myself or xxxxx Player 2> will do thanks Player 1 > /emote adds Player 2 to the genuie nice persons list
Now, in the olden days, when honour was important and scamming was a no-no, the above convo would be normal.
I do not care how you play the game, i.e. pirate, pvp, carebear, mission runner, industrial but I think it is important to play the game in good conscience, self worth and integrity because when we log off from EvE those qualities are what we are left with.

Yeah, Honor would be nice...but it seems to have no place in Eve. The mechanics of the game allow/encourage players to be scum.
And 'Good old Days'? Like 3 years ago when I paid 10 mill for a shuttle, and the guy said 'Well, someone did it to me, so I thought I'd just pass it along to the next person.'?
BTW: I still have that Solid-Gold shuttle somewhere. I chose not to pass it along. And I'm still gonna kill the guy that sold it to me someday.

one of my alts sets us scam contracts in the n00b systems, then when they get accepted convos the n00bs and explains the dangers of the contract system then refunds most of the cash

Lol, I agree the olden days where not perfect, and I am not saying the game is that bad these days, but I would have been kicked out of my corp if I deliberately scammed or not honoured 1v1 pvp fights.
Some corp still value there intergrity for themselves and members but I will not accept a 1v1 with a new member.
Once heard in local, ô1v1 or 19v2 û loosing is loosingö
Its true but . . . . . theres more to EvE than winning at all cost.

so I had this low sec pos last year and i was always getting hunted by local pirates as I went to and from the gates, this one alt of a rich industrialist joins a group with them one day and low and behold he warps to me at my pos ... pop goes his rax and he leaves some decent serp armor hardeners
I get a convo from him after he shows up in a shuttle gets popped again and he sees me scoop his can, asking for the loot back claiming innocence, all the while I am in convo with his gang mate conferming that he was trying to pop my poor little viator.
no real relation to the op but funny along those lines

Can you believe I always tend to play like that behaviour? In contrary to all my trolling/flaming forum posts --- So I flame and troll when the occasion calls for it. So what are you gonna do about it? |

In the past I've played MMOs (sigh... Lineage/2) wherein items were dropped upon death. I returned a jewelry piece to a player who dropped it on death. The item outvalued everything I had a few times over. I was repaid with him emoting "Vitrael is the BEST! " and nothing else.
'Nough said I have been a corrupt freak ever since.

Not sure how I'd stand there. If it was a noob, I'd probably do the honorable thing and give it back. New players make mistakes because they don't fully understand the game and don;t realise how easily you can get scammed.
However, a player who's been around for two years or more should know better and has been playing long enough to know the scams and tricks. If they got lazy and made a stupid mistake I think my attitude would be "You want it back, you try and take it back".
I won't deliberately scam but wouldn't be stupid enough to give back a billion isk or something supremely valuable to someone who should have known better but just wasn't paying attention.
