Hi
Just wanna have some fun and hunt some level 4 mission runners. Don't really want to kill them, just to jam, scramble and webi and they will be killed by NPCs :) so, the main question what ship to use for such "dirty" thinks. Thought of a Falcon for its ECM bonuses. Is there something better? maybe a Pilgrim?
Any ideas are welcome.
Thx

Most people fly Domis and Ravens, and if you can figure out what type of NPCs they're fighting, you'd know their armor hole. But since you just want to web and scram them...
They'll be tanked for the NPCs, and if they're sniping, what you're doing might not do anything since they can take out the npcs they've aggro'd with sentry drones before turning their attention to you.
Just something to consider.
Also, it takes a while to scan down deadspace. If they're bookmarking, it'll be regular space again when they turn in the mission. Then wait for them to salvage/loot (let them do the work), then jump in, gank, and take the loot.
Easy Peasy.
Sincerely, K'reemy ---

something I did not understood. If I jam them, then they can't kill NPCs and if the mission is like 5 step of the Guristas|Angel Extravaganza or something like Worlds Collide then is pretty hard to survive if not killing NPCs. Am I wrong?

must be a stupid noob who cant tank spawns :)
when i need to get my sec up and make a lil isk on the side i run lvl4s...
i never agro all spawns :) that means i can tank em easy and when a pirate jumps on me he gets the est other spawns on himself :P
and most mission runners are aligned to something when thy have a had spwant that they can hardly tank. thats just incase it breaks. and usually get away because of it :( --------------------------------------- Sig killed by MODs.... reworking it Great being Gallente... aint it ? ----------------- YARRRR, sig hijack! -HornFrog ----------------- |

Edited by: Sick Jenny on 13/06/2007 11:53:29 I've busted countless mission runners but tbh not found a single one that I could simply hold in place while NPCs killed him off. As has already been said, one factor is that most who you'll find in L4s in losec are competent enough to tank it's NPCs (if not they'll be dead before you get to them), another is that probing them out takes a while and you'll seldom enter a mission that has enough NPC left to do the job for you. Most missions you'll find will also be L3 or lower.
In fact the only time I was lucky enough to enter a mission with lots of mean enough NPCs left, it also featured a number of sentries which turned on me as I came out of warp and I had to double time it outta there to stay alive. Needless to say, this was a tad embarrassing
In theory though, I'd say the ultimate setup for your tactic would be an Arazu with 2 x 24km scrams or better, damps of course, afterburner + speed tank in lows, a probe launcher and 2 x Gravity Capacitor rigs to decrease the probe time. This will give you 2 points of scram at 43 km+ (with recon skill IV) which is totally invaluable in mission busting and thus imo makes the Arazu the best choice of any recon for the job (I use it myself).
(btw if you're looking for a corp to do this as well as pursue other pirate activites with, just give me a holler ingame EDIT: whups alt post, see below)

If you want to use rat aggro against mish runners , track them down with an arazu , wait until they are in a room with enough rats to kill them , have your gangmate come in with a cheap fast ship and draw rat aggro like mad , fly close to the target and warp out. If you scram from a decent distance , rats should prefer to shoot the mish runner.
That's just a stunt though , of no practical use - and rats will steal the killmail. It's much easier to kill the target with a tackler , damage dealer and ewar cruiser.

As long as you have very very good probing skills, I like a Domi with heavy nos and a probe launcher. My last one took a few rigs to fit everything, but it quite effective. Pretty hard to tank a L4 in an active tanked raven with no capacitor left :)

thx guys for the answers, it seems to be not a good source of income my idea. Will try to think something better.
Any other "bad" ideas are welcome

Is it possible to do the same things to a mission runner in a deadspace mission in highsec? I was under the impression that Concord didn't respond if you are in deadspace in a 0.5+ system, but I'm not really sure.

Correct! You're safe to blow up players in high-sec deadspace. Just don't go anywhere until agro counter finishes.
I've done it loads of times.. Let us know if you get any good loot Who's the rudest of them all! |
