and doing some site seeing. I fully expect to be podded on several occasions, but I have ISK and clones so I don't really care.
I'm just wondering with my first tour of 0.0 which type of ship should I fly and how should I outfit it?
I was thinking probably just a cheap frig with some nanos or something to help me get to warp quick.
WCS?
Not really interested in ratting or anything, just flying around and visiting places.
Best Regards,

If you're just after sightseeing, I'd suggest a shuttle or an interceptor. Neither of which will probably allow you to survive a gate camp. But in the immortal words of Innominate Nightmare, just say "This is so cool" in local and you'll be fine

If you've got the ISK, fit a ceptor and make it as fast as possible. It'll take it almost impossible to catch unless there's a few huginns (or get unlucky with a huginn). --- Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi". It's a templar, an amarr fighter used by shuttles. Tho I hear they don't tank very well. |

Cov Ops with cov ops cloak, mwd, nano/istab/overdrive, loads of cap batteries/rechargers.
I can burst to over 2500 m/s in my Helios for 10 seconds while cloaked, after jumping into a bubble, select quietest area away from gate where there are no ships, double click, hiw mwd, hit cloak. You will cloak but the mwd will still run 1 cycle before deactivating, even then I only slow down to about 490 m/s.
I only use the ship for scouting, I have fitted a 75mm T2 railgun as it just about fit, never used it though.
Jumped into plenty of bubbles and come away fine, pretty much invulnerable.

I went cruising in a rifter in 0.0 when I got my jump clones, high 3xAuto-cannon (size depends on skills) and a nos. Mid MWD, web, stength 2 scram. Low, small armour rep, resistance plating and 50mm/100mm plating.
Can take on other Tech 1 frigs and can escape most things except Tech II frigs.
And yes, not the best loadout, but cheap and usefull in areas without friendly stations.

Shuttles are great until you hit a bubble.
Rifters are probably the best T1 Frig for this, so long as you avoid the temptation to fit it to fight. Fit to run away.
Interceptors are better still, but more spendy.
In all cases you want the ship with: --The lowest basic Mass --The most low slots --The highest basic speed
A cloak is useful too, although CCP is adding a feature to scan them down, but I have no idea if it will be an effective feature.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

I wandered through Goon, RA, TCF, KOS, and IAC space in a shuttle for hours and hours. As far as I can tell they only shoot ships that have stuff in them, or have guns, or have a bounty, or are generally worth shooting at... shuttles get by fairly easily. D:

0.0 is ace. You can get station camped for upwards of 5 straight consecutive hours by 5 people. As long as you have another account to play on, you can time waste 5 to 1 your own ratio for zero effort. It's always most poingnant if you get it in unclaimed 0.0 space, by a group of five "hard" people, in a dead ended system, where they hide because if they set one foot out of it, they get splatted by a 10 man gang. Again. And then when you check in after an hour to see local full of "fight liek a man", well, that is just icing on your cake.
0.0 isn't for everybody. Leaving it behind as a dull memory is an option. You could always do an INNOMINATE NIGHTMARE. 0.0 is that dull, they will even get behind any popularity bandwagon just to break the monotony of station camping some tourist for 5 hours.

Depends where in 0.0 it is really, as i've flown for a couple of month's around 0.0 on my own looking for trouble and haven't been shot once...and i wanna be shot, ffs i gatecamped last night for ONE neut.
0.0 is safer that empire, i'm going into BoB space later to see if anyone still plays lol.

Condor, MWD.
Nothing spectacular, but effective. I've buzzed through an Outbreak bubble camp in one without breaking a sweat.
Alternatively, a Ferox with a full rack of WCS's, MWD, and a decent shield tank can also be amusing.

If you want to just fly around visit places there are generally two options.
1) Covert Ops. Covops cloak and MWD, learn to do the approach gate=>mwd=>instacloak for when you jump into a bubble.
2) Ceptor fitted for ONLY speed. Good ceptors for this would be the Crusader or the Ares.

If a ceptor or fast frig is stoppable it's never happened to me. They're imo far more survivable when flown skillfully than a covops. Hell the typical blob camp is incapable of killing a cruiser fitted with a bit of speed, although they at least can blob you in.

I found for zipping in and out of 0.0 the Raptor (preparing for a barrage of insults) is actually a very sturdy little ship, its fairly versitile and fairly quick, it can make work of any frigates you might find and will get you out of the bubbles pretty quick also.
Plus as it has the same slots as a Crow (scratch the 3rd launcher point) you can get a SIMILAR setup, ofcourse taking into account having less powergrid and CPU and also Cap.
But its cheap, and pretty good and works well with t1 gear, a good starting ship to learn how to use ceptors...go raptor go :-)
I still wuv my Crow though!
