Really? Will it? Anyone that gets upset over a game should probably find something else to do.
False. Its jus a sign that they are playing a great game. If EVE doesnt affect you in anyway emotionally, what are you doing here?

Have to agree with the man above, if your not getting upset when you lose a ship which you have worked for the last 3 weeks. Is kinda childish, yeah its just a imaginary ship but the time you put into that ship isn't. That is one of the things that's makes this game so awesome.

Thank you all so much for your replies. It is nice to read constructive and mature comments.
I have been convinced, and will shortly convert my account from trial to full. After reading the posts here the one thing that seems very apparent to me is that I should try and find myself a good corp of mature players who can not only show me the ropes, but who can give me the social aspect that I am looking for.
Thank you to everyone who replied.

PvP is where I will be looking to go. Not piracy, but some sort of War that I could get involved with in some sort of small way. Can a new player make a difference, however limited?
On that subject (now I'm less drunk and have read your OP more thoroughly), have any decent PvP group explain to you about tackling.
It's possibly the single most important part of any PvP group- the tackler is responsible for stopping the other guys warping out before you land the final blow. A T1 frigate with just a few weeks worth of SP can make a thoroughly passable tackler, and it's a job that high SP players will often avoid (since they can be putting their high SP to better use in the forms of damage and EWAR and similar). Most veteran PvP groups are happy for newbies to fly tackler for them while they learn the ropes and train up their skills.
And if you really enjoy it, you can train up more advanced ships such as T2 interceptors and interdictors- the kings of tackling. If you don't enjoy it, there'll always be plenty of other new players willing to take your place.
Absolutely true.
I would add that my corp recruits new players for this reason (amongst others). I have found that a minimum of support and advice gets new players accustomed to lo-sec/0.0 within a couple of weeks of starting the game. I only wish I had had such assistance when I started playing.
I am extremely proud of the new players in Hi4Li.

You will find a huge difference in the nature of replies on this forum. Those who show spirit and initiative will almost always get overwhelmingly positive replies, and often help. Those who merely complain and whine, expecting success and safety as their rightful due will get... the other kind of reply.

Clearly yes, there are allll sorts of realms to explore EVE.
It goes in many directions, in my system I'm in I see newbs talking in locaL having a huge great time, diplomacy or anything.
I'm ahrad of them, thinking I can make ten of there most costly ships in ten minutes what takes them a while to do one.
But they are having a lot of fun, I can easily see that.
and the goals are endless.
*** Do what you want to EVE, as long as nothing fun is taken away and anything new is fun.

I wish you the very best of luck with that, But its only fair to warn you that 80% of All corps are paranoied. They see spys every where, so when one day you log on take your nice shiney brand new Drake out to go rating and 3 or 4 fellow corp members blow it and your pod out of the sky dont be surprised just remember thats eve. Eve is all about pvp it forces you to pvp under a cloak of pretending you have a choice when the truth is you dont. All ways try to speak to others on some kind of voice chat because what you type is very offten missunderstood as to its true meaning and can lead to you geting into trouble very quickly.
Try to limmit your self on how much you play as well or you'll find your self not wanting to go to work each day you'll dream about the game, your life and friends will fade away untill one day you realise eve has taken over your life and your an eve junki like so many who have posted on this forum. lol just try and diss eve and se what reaction you get its a bit like watching a ****** adict defending his habbit.
The game is brilliant with out a doubt but like most other things it has its draw backs.
Fly safe enjoy your time in the game.

But you have a new bloodline char?
Oh Davey, alts my boy! Alts! Admittedly, I was fitting T1 125mm Railguns to my Exequror and being coerced into taking on a Tempest when Miner IIs came in, but still. |

Eve is the best game of the world... *but*
Originally by: Impinge These are the questions that I have found myself asking, on the eve of becomming a fully fledged EvE Online player. My time online is limited ( wife, family etc ) and whilst I feel that EvE offers me something no other online game has so far, I want to be sure that starting this late isn't a foolish move.
PvP and family don't go along too well I think Eve will utterly vampirize your time , and while it is possible to play the game casually (thanks to the skilling system) you may be faced with heartbreaking choices once you are involved in alliance wars , when your presence will be required for fleet ops.
Starting "late" isn't a worry , SP is not required to fit in the ecosystem. But seeing your enthusiasm , I can't stress this enough - Eve is a huge game and may devour your life. It happened to me , but that's ok - I had no family to lose
