Originally by: Deschenus Maximus I'd say the best overall is the Megathron. It can do solo, it can do gang, it can do fleet; it can tank, it can gank. What else could you ask for?

Imho the best soloships are the curse and maybe the astarte. Curse is a good ship but it relies on drones to do its damage, which get popped by sentrys in lowsec or small support for example. Many setups though that work very well to work around its various problems.
Astarte however works well even under sentry fire and can safely engage many ships which will just crumble under its dps. It also has a very nice combination of tank + gank + tackling gear, and will be able to avoid unwanted confrontations much easier than a megathron for example which shares some of the tarts other traits.

Throw in a snake set and your laughing.
Edit. Its damn boring though did it for long enough to hate it, pvp on easy mode dont really give you any type of buzz / enjoyment

If you are posting this so you can train towards "the best ship", BE WARNED: CCP has a LONG history of nerfing the "best" ships. Many many many many folks have spent months training towards a ceratin ship/fitting, only to have it nerfed out from under them.
Accept this now, and avoid the pain of shattered expectations.
The best option is to find a style you like, train it up, and stick with it, nerfed or un-nerfed.
Focusing on the "best" = Focusing on nerf bait.
Best advice I've seen on the forum since ever!

WORST THREAD EVER!
Seriously, this game isn't divided like other silly games.
If you want a best of the best comparison, then you need to do more than just saying firepower, durability, performance (what does that mean in this context anyway?).
You want to fight everything solo and small gang.
So what your asking for is technically NOT in eve, as no ship is so good and generalized that it handles all roles well.
You sound new, so take this advice, play the game and decide on a play style you like and follow your nose.
If you like knife fighting (close in pew pew) there are plenty of ships for that. IF you like sniping (far away pew pew) there are tons for that. If you like drones, plenty of ships for that. Missiles? Plenty.
Just try and pick what sounds like fun...
If winning is all your after you certainly won't achieve that by being told to fly a certain ship because your a nub and will likely find it useless to try.
So rethink your needs and your question, and experiment on your own.
Again, there IS no best ship overall, and if and when there is, You won't be flying it for long before the nerf bat comes and blows the doors off it, meaning all your hard work getting into it and learning to use it is wasted... Epic Fail in that case.
Now asking: "What ships should I avoid?"
That is a valid question always, as while there may not be a best ship, there are some that are clearly worst.
Executor (gal Tier 1 Cruiser) for example is almost useless in PVP heheh, unless they changed it. ********************************************* "Stars Die... Empires fall... We are dust..." ********************************************* |

But what if all the best ships are Gallente? Then CCP wouldn't nerf them.

A lot of you are saying Curse, but I've got to disagree. It just doesn't have to firepower to kill fast enough unless you know you won't be disturbed during the fight. And yes, I have DI 5 and Recon 5 as well. If you can take your time the Curse is excellent and pretty safe, but if you want to get in, kill something and get out quick use a plated gank mega.
CFW (Certified Forum Warrior) I kill people ingame too.

People who say Curse also seem to forget about the whole fleet warfare aspect of PvP as well.

Agreed, Curses are paper and suck for fleet. (But they are useful for small gangs if you somehow (unlikely) manage to not get called primary)

I find the best ship is the ship that can be adapted to multiple situations, getting you the most for your isk.
That's why I agree with the people who have mentioned the megathron, and also put forward the tempest. ----

Hmmm yep, Tempest would be a close tie indeed. I'd still say the Mega is better overall, because of the clear armour-tanking design, whereas the Tempest is probably a superior fleet ship because the the high number of mids allows for more TCs and SBs, and it has a higher Alpha.

As others have said, the question is vague and has many possible answers. However I do have some favorites - Vaga - fun, fast, easy to escape nasty situations Myrm - simply amazing performance for the price (tank and gank all in one) Eos, or Astarte - just, yeah. Domi - Good performance and lower skill level
Just keep flying different ships set up different ways, and see what you like! That's the fun of it for me!

The op needs to change it to.
Best solo overall ship:
Best Fleet overall ship:
Best Small gang ship:
id say solo is the curse fleet is tempest/geddon Small gang be the Domi
Cant argue with this. Reason i say curse is better than the domi is because the curse can always pwn the domi 1v1 (1v1 fo rthe entire fight)
When orbiting a nos domi outside its nos range you drain its cap and use up its cap boosts slowly. Then with the damps it makes the domi have a high calibration even with a SB. So locking drones takes 20/30 seconds.
Its a slow and painful ask but its all simply down to micro management. Send drones in for the attack. count to 20 then return them so the domi loses lock on drones rince repeat.
No need to attack his drones as he will recall them.
with a skilled domi pilot it takes about 25 minutes to take him down.
The domi has time only on his hands. The curse can kick back and enjoy the show.
Tedious but its what makes the curse better than the domi 1v1... SOLO!

Originally by: IONZ I have read many threads on setups but no one has given their opion on what they feel is the best all around PVP ship along with a set up for the ship. I am taking in to consideration: Fire Power Durability Performance I want to take this all in to account for fighting all types of ships solo or a small gang.
Please post some feed back with your ideal set up for the Best All Around PVP Ship.
