I honestly, honestly don't understand the constant hate for "the blob". What I dislike is lag. If we could all fight lag free all the time then I would be eager to see battles of thousands vs. thousands on the same grid.

Patches which alter game balance will always catch some people out, and I think the Shrike kill was a prime example of this. For months now Titan pilots have been bouncing around the galaxy in a functionally indestructable, push-button killmail generator, and it looks like Shrike/Molle was still caught in that 'nothing can possibly harm an active Titan' mindset that has been built up since titans were introduced. Understandable, I guess, but an expensive lesson for him.

The whole Titan mess will begin again in a few months when at least 1 alliance can field 10+ of them at once...

Originally by: Nimitz Alexander one should be very wary about repeating this feat against any force that may have more then on titan...
start off like this... but with a cyno gen fitted and a second titan in reserve+ capitol fleet..
First one in, has dreads jumped on it, enter siege.... cyno in a second titan to wipe out scrambling fleet then hit the sieged dreads with a secondary fleet...
From what can be seen on the fraps (both by RA and Goons), it could all have ended much differently if BoB forces hadn't been acting stupid all the way. A couple of carriers / MS in triage mode would have kept Shrike up fine, but they never even tried (lack of skills? lack of coordination? lack of confidence? who knows).

triage module is suicide and causes carriers to cap out within a mere few seconds. -----------------------------------

Originally CCP touted them as a way to break blobs and force people into more creative tactics.
But they forgot that the people in the blobs have just as much ability and right to complain as those who don't like the blobs...

No they forgot that blobs are necessary to accomplish strategic objectives within the game.

Glass cannon my arse.
If its a 180 v 10 battle, all it proves is that the Titan is close-to but not totally God-mode.
Lemme guess, the DD took out oooooh 30-40 guys.
Then it took 100+ guys bumping, bubbling and nossing it, I'm sure it got a few more with smartbombs.
If that's your idea of a glass cannon, then you need glasses.
More like BFG9000 solo pwnmobile taken out by 180 Ewoks with giant swinging treetrunks.

If people would please check what really did happened rather than simply speculate it would be nice.
The DDD didnt do much damage, the titan aparently hit a bunch of friggs at a gate and rather than warping out chose to cloak. Aparently this was a HUGE mistake.
Moreover the titan was not taken down in a trap, the titan made his move at the worst possible of all times as RA was bringing in its capital fleet to protect a POS.
Initially RA and Goons were damn lucky to get the opportunity, Shrike made a mistake and they capitalized on it and thus got the first active combat titan kill, congrats to that.
BoB ended upp being the first to loose a titan in active combat... well they were bound to loose one sooner or later seeing as they have multiple ones they bring to the front lines, bad luck they happened to loose one first but cudos for risking it.
We could naturally speculate that the attack was a diversion to facilitate an assault on the above mentioned POS and that it simply went horribly wrong, POS attack had to be called off to try assist the titan and then a cut losses situation... but why bother, we will know what comes out, nothing more nothing less.
As for the whole "we didnt want the titan anyways" "Molle will just bring out his spare" crap, nomatter how wealthy an alliance is it does not have "spare" titans, a halfwit can figure out that the ship is a hell of a lot better used on the field as oposed to hidden away. True, if BoB wants this Shirke in a new avatar Im sure they can swap round a few people and get him into one or bump the next in line to get one down a peg to let him get the next one produced... but then again that is upp to BoB, I have no doubt BoB is too smart to mothball a titan :)
The one good thing about this kill is that both sides seem to feel 0.0 battles are more fun, I have seen both sides claim this and that is good!

which is better to lose? 10 carriers to buy time to save a titan? or a Titan itself? Redswarms cap ships were already mobilized to save a POS from distruction from BoB, where where BoB's cap ships?

loled why not cloaking a whole planned sounds fun :P lol
Originally by: Illyria Ambri I think titans wont be used quite as much w/o MASSIVE blob support to lag out the node.
It would be a nice circular irony of BoB wants to use a titan and blobs support for it causing massive lag to make the node stutter causing warping and fleet problems causing the loss of the titan they are blobing to protect.
Either way.. this wont be the last titan kill.. but it is nice that finally its possible to kill 1 with someone actually flying it.
Just to verify: A titan DDD's and is unable to cyno out for 10 minutes.. This effectivly locks it into the system if the enemy fleet can bubble the outgoing gates and track him down in said system?
P.S. Titans and Motherships should NOT be able to fit a cloak.. PERIOD

And who blew it up?
Avatar - Sirmolle (BOB) - killed by RA/Goons
Check CAOD for details.
I'm not sure if its an alt of Sirmolle's, but that was not the character that was in the avatar when it was popped. The characters name was "Shrike." I downloaded the video.
**EDIT***
I just found the direct link to download the Fraps video.

Originally by: Zarcan Isn't it fairly amusing that the first Legit titan kill happened a mere two days after Revelations II was introduced?
From the explanations that I've heard, it sounds like the pilot used his DD too early, and was stuck in place for 10 minutes- long enough for wrecks and bubbles to be spammed around him, and taken out by the Goons and RA...
How do you think this will effect Titan warfare from now on? I for one think that titans will become even more valuable than before, because their risk-reward ratio has been significantly changed in favor of risk.
Comments?

I'd like to find the chucklehead who first insisted that titans were made specifically to break up blobs, because its the most heinous lie I've ever heard. |

Does anyone actually fit traditional weapons on titans?
Titans would be a lot more useful if their bonuses to capital turrets/launchers made them useful against battleships, so that titan pilots would actually have offensive weapons beyond over-sized smart bombs.
Sort of like a dread with more guns/launchers that can actually hit (slowly) moving battleships for good damage, and (oh yeah) a doomsday device.
Give them a 7.5% tracking bonus per level on turrets and an equivalent bonus for citadel torps, or some way to make them effective enough that titan pilots will actually use them. - We don't get information anymore, we get spin.

They should give it a uber shield transporter that can instantly heal stn-services to compensate for poor game design so we dont have to spent half a day healing them all the time... :S
