I guess you forgot your INT implants.
At least concord doesn't come to blow you up in RL highsec...
Since when is 80 fast?
When you go head-over-handlebars, 80 is beyond fast.
Hell, even in a fully enclosed passenger vehicle, when you perform unscheduled off-road maneuvers, 80 is fast.
Of course it's fast in that way, but not fast in 'you're being an idiot'. It's the standard speed on most roads in europe. |

This happened in Florida.
Most of the US has a 65 mph speed limit or even lower depending on what type of area you are in.
Originally by: http://www.dot.state.fl.us/TrafficOperations/FAQs/SpeedLimitFAQ.htm The Florida Legislature authorized the Florida Department of Transportation to establish speed limits on state highways up to the following maximums: 70 mph on Interstates, 65 mph on a four-lane divided highway outside an urban area (with a population of 5,000 or more), and 60 mph on other state highways.
So it's fast in that way. In Arizona it would be reckless driving fast.

Was doing 80mph (on a straight) when I saw the turn (then realized the turn had no lighting at all and I wasn't able to gage its degree well enough before I was tossed) Down shifted, braked, etc. Might have eased it to 50 but probably more towards 60. Face first. Rolled 3-4 times, head over heals, for about 15 yards. I donno how I got up... Just road rash. Jesus?
The bike took out a sign too! I'm really only bummed that the bike is damaged. However, I think it's only cosmetic because I picked it up and road it to a nearby car and called someone and it rode straight and solid.
And yes, the scratches do indeed hurt. I've got about 7-8 Lidocaine (5%) patches on which have helped a fair bit. As far as meds, a single tylenol 3 (30mg codeine) and 4 doxycycline hyclate (50mg) capsules are what mother prescribed. ...lol...
That there codeine is ... nice. :) ---

More fool you for not wearing protective gear, cargo pants? t-shirt? At least you was wearing a helmet, do they still have lax laws in US over lids?
Most sensible ppl in the UK have Gortex/Kevlar/Leather jackets, pants, gloves, and boots which can have armour padding in - I appreciate the weather is a lot hotter over there but there must be some lightweight bike clothing with armour attached?
Glad your ok though, and hope your better protected next time

You call those scratches? Pah!
I got thrown through (or maybe ran through) a window a few years ago, and the glass struck me perfectly wrecking my arm and chest... My arm went in to structure (bone) and my chest was very close (1mm deeper and I'd have punctured a lung module)... Also got a plethora of scars up my wrist, but they weren't very deep. Had to be in surgery for 4 hours while they stitched my muscle back together!
And what makes your epidermis t2? Surely being a gamer it's more supple and pale than other epidermis, so only t1 or even basic?
And were the cargo pants destroyed as a result of the crash, or as a result of what happened just before?

Wife's currently down in Vero, but she'd kill me with an axe if I drove down to Florida and hung out with gamer geeks instead of showering her with love and attention.
Ah, married life.
Oh, and Mongo: Varies by state. NC is helmets, helmets now, helmet or we fine the everloving hell out of you. SC is no helmet requirement for seniors, and GA is helmet suggested, pretty much. Don't remember Florida's off the top of my head.

Your ignorance of the police is volumes.
Your pretty ignorant. It is only reckless driving if your going 25 mph over the posted limit. So at 80 mph he had another 10 mph to go before being reckless. And that sign could have been a pedestrian? Any pedestrian walking that close to a highway with a 65 mph speed limit deserves to get hit. We have to weed the ******s out of the population somehow. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

I hate to jump into this peen-waggling session, but get your facts straight before calling someone out.
The threshold for reckless driving varies by state. It's not a flat 25 everywhere.
As to the whole "sign could be a pedestrian" rant: A sign on the side of the highway could've very well been a pedestrian, or a bicyclist, or a hitchhiker. The south could've very well won the American Civil War. Satan could very well be living in my corn flakes. But none of the above actually happened, so why are we parsing hypotheticals again? Owait, internet, debating the insignificant is mandatory, I forgot.

You are lucky that not more happend at this speed.
For those people who say it is not fast: You reach a speed of 128 km/h (80 mph) after a free fall of 64 m (without air resistance). So, throw yourself from a 64m high tower and then when you hit the ground and stand up again, tell us again that 128 km/h is not fast

Not that i want to be added to the "idiot biker" list but...
Here in the UK the national speed limit is 70 on a motorway and dual carriageway (unless posted) and 60 on single lane road.
If traffic permits on a motorway I'll be cruising at about a ton (100mph for those that don't to british slang ). On the twisty A and B roads I'll happily bounce off the limiter (135ish on an unrestricted VFR400) in some places. Admittedly I'll only be this silly in perfect conditions (so about twice a year here) and I only ever go out on the full gear, takes longer to get ready but having hit the tarmac at 70 It's worth it.
Anyways. Sucks about the bike and I hope you mend soon, and tbh that must be a really crappy bend cos I know how fast an R6 can stop

I'm BoB. It just comes with the tags.
And let me get this out of the way. It was wreckless. I deserve all that happened and more. By all means, I should be dead. I won't tell you the posted speed limit.
All I can say in my defense is it was very late and the roads were clear. I had driven the road many times before and knew the turn was coming up, however it had never been so dark.
It happened. I suck at life. The codeine is wearing off...

You are the one who is ignorant here.
The moment he could not control his vehicle it became reckless. And the other guy is right. Just like speed limit's vary from state to state, so do the limits on what is reckless. Nor is that limit set in stone. It varies on weather conditions, road conditions, driver condition.
The point of the matter is that this person was driving a vehicle at a speed at which he was unable to control.
He was an idiot. I'm glad he isn't dead. (Instead of his bike, HE could have been the one into the pole, and then the pole would have won.)
However I am even more glad that no one else was injured/killed for his inability to drive.

Again, if YOU can handle the speed, more power to you. This person FAILED at it and injured himself and luckily not others.
I understand "The rush" just fine. However there are places for that and it's not on a public street.

I think generally with motorcycle riders its safe to say that most of us tread the line between thrill seeking and safety - that is safety in the sense of self preservation - quite well, on one hand we do tend to push limits and go faster than we should, but on the other we're well aware of that fact that aside from some plastic, foam and leather we're basically completely unprotected, as such while we may "push it a bit" most of the time its not that reckless or irresponsible.
And baring in mind that motorcycle riders - particularly sport bikes ridden fast - have at least a dozen more factors to handle than your average car driver, ie: road surface, weather, constant awareness of surroundings that...umm.. some car drivers may lack etc. So its not surprising that sometimes we do go a bit too far, **** up and get to have a nice chat with our insurance companies, although sometimes worse of course. :|
In the end, we're all human, we all make mistakes.
