Edited by: Jen Ya on 23/06/2007 13:28:52 i cant belive what info msg just come up while i was on my new created alt. why i am not allowed to train a skill on my alt without stopping the training of my main char?
that dont makes sense to me, why am i allowed to create 3 chars but im not allowed to train them at the same time?
i dont want to watch the skills go up while doing nothing but sitting around in a station. i dont need to go out and hunt rats or something b/c i have all the money i need on my main.
so what are the 2 extra character slots for?
you want me to pay for another account? no way!
/edit: thats the msg:
It seems that another character owned by this account, yayay, is training the skill Heavy Missiles. Only one character can train a skill per account. To rectify this, exit the game, log on to yayay, and stop training the skill.

For making purpose built low skill specialized alts like haulers scouts and miners.. Create it and put a week or two of training to get it up to snuff then enjoy.. To be honest it just like every other mmo that lets you have multiple charecters.. Do you complain about your second charecter in WoW not skilling up at the same time..

On the plus side it doesn't look like you need to train the skill 'Whiney Forum Post' any higher -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

what does that have to do with wow?
in wow you actualy need to do something to get your skills up, in eve i just need to click and wait.so the only thing left is making money but money is not the problem cuz its an alt.
so pls let wow out of this topic.

I was using it as an example so insert any other mmo you feel better about me mentioning.. But its still skilling up regardless if you wack wack wack a troll or click a button to start the level up process.. You still have to grind for isk and standings to make use of your skills so its really the same in the end..

Bah to think CCP wouldn't give you three accounts, equally trainable for the price of one! you'd think they're running a business or something.
as has been stated before, you can't train two wow characters at the same time so why should that be any different in eve?

Actually Eve is the only mmo that lets you train as many charecters at once as you can afford accounts..

To whoever said WoW in response to this thread, why ?
In WoW skills only increase when they are actively used either within combat or performing a tradeskill process, therefore to skilltrain in WoW you must be A) Logged in with that Character B) Actively enganged with that Character
Eve does NOT use this method of skill training, so your argument is not only flawed and pointless, but rather unimaginative aswell. Incase you fail to understand why your argument is flawed, the OP is discussing apples, you respond with a comment about oranges.
Skill Points do not equal Experience Points in any other MMO.

Why not?
In the end you advance in MMORPGs by investing time into them (excluding items/equipment). In most of them it is by investing time playing them. In EvE you do it simply by investing time.
YOu cannot play(=advance) multiple chars of the same account at the same time in other MMORPGs, in EvE you can only train one char at the same time.
That is IMO pretty compareable.
To the OP: cannot accept that? There's the susucribe button. It's been this way since eve existed and no, it won't suddenly change because of you and, yes, there are reasons for it beside it being better for CCP (=more $$$ from multiple accounts).
For example, if you could train skills on all your chars at once the majority of eve would train "alts" to sell them later, creating a huge skillpoint "inflation".

Well despite the usual petty answers the real reason is the obvious reason.
Money.
There are a lot of people that wouldn't "need" additional accounts if they could train up their 2 additional chars. Of course there are a lot of people who still would "need" them.
CCP encourage extra accounts for two reasons, firstly it generates more income, secondly it makes the game appear far more populated than it actually is. It's the only real issue I have with CCP's business strategies.
Scout Alt Trade Alt Hauler Alt Industrial Alt Pirate Alt Spy Alt Cyno Alt Supercap Alt
All these but Spy Alt (which is simply called a spy) and Supercap Alt (due to rarity of supercap pilots) are common phrases in the EVE vocabulary.

Daelin is right this is why you will NEVER see EVE have a way to skill up more than one char at a time. "The environment plays a big part but EVE is a "PvP" game." Oveur (Its not a MMORPG after all - I sent Oveur a email to update the main page) |

it's also to stop people from creating an alt, training it up to a point while only really playing with the main and then selling it for easy isk or real money. yes you can still do this with multiple accounts but while doing that you have to actually pay for the alt.

you can buy 2 additional chars and will have 3 chars to play with.
wait, you can only play with 1 at a time
CCP, why cant i play with all 6 chars on my 2 accounts simultaneously? ____________________________________________

Fact of EVE: Either you harden up, get some balls, or you wont make it. The "elite" attitudes by people exclude the weak from this game (They dont belong here anyways) and only let the strong survive. Its an environmental trigger in a way. Those with weak self esteem, low confidence, etc go play games like WoW and EQ2 where your weakness's can be pampered. EVE is a game for those with their own self esteem, high confidence, their own drive to succeed. Its a fact, and its a fact that makes eve great.
So yeh maybe they came off a bit harsh, but hey..thats eve. Sorry we couldnt sugar coat it for you! Wait..no im not.
Delivering the kick to the jaw of society to stop it from drooling on itself like the ignorant slop it is since 1984.
