Eve has prevailed, and became strong. Albeit many players seek to complain and change aspects of the game for their benefit, but I think overall this has become something bigger than most anticipated. The playerbase, which drives the game, has grown immensly. Many of the players have multiple accounts to do multiple tasks and strive for self-sufficiency.
I think it's time for a change - in the community. We've grown so large we've become a festering pimple - a sort of disease if you will. Chaos within a group so large only grows as players interact and frustrate each other. And that brings me to my point... The playerbase has gone south in my opinion. I'm not pointing a finger at everyone, but... let's just say the majority of people I meet here nowadays seem immature and distasteful. And no, you cannot have my stuff unless you pry it out of my burning matari scrapheap of a ship. I'm not leaving, but I am going to become exiled in game. I just don't know what happened to the intelligent respectable people.
I used to find joy and utter mountains of information on the forums. Now it seems we tend to stockpile whines and have competitions to "beat the lock" etc... So what happened? I think people have lost their passion to mold themselves into the game. Rather they want the game to mold to them because they think paying a monthly fee gives them the right to make the game. It's CCPs game, and while intelligable input from the playerbase is great and should be implemented - 90% of what I see as far as suggestions just make me absolutely sick. So CCP balanced X and now X isn't as powerful, let's go whine about it till they change it, let's not use Y or Z, we're Xers so we wan't X back the way it was.
I'm hungover today, just reading the forums as I awake from my cocoon, and it's making me sick(er). What happened to the community I loved - the mature playerbase that lent the noobs a helping hand, and smited those that opposed them rather than complain about it?
And for the final bomb - IS EVE BECOMING WOW?

I think it was an inevitability that the amount of idiocy would go up. The game has grown larger, and has becoming more accessible to the average MMO player. This is completely different from when EVE first started. Back then you had to be dedicated, persistent, and clever in order to even survive. I don't think that the average amount of intelligence has gone down so much, it's just that the amount of idiots has gone up. And people notice the idiots a lot more because they stick out so much.
At the end of the day, no matter how many people agree with you, nothing will change. The idiots are here now, and they are going to be here until they move onto somewhere else of their own free will.
And no, I don't think EVE is becoming WoW.

I don't think Eve has become WoW. You still have far more control and unrestricted access to the world than what WoW gives you. As for idiots? Well its natural. There are still people who join up in hopes of playing true to Eve's original ideas. (Fine, intelligent, good looking people such as... oh I don't know, myself) Focus your attention on them. From what I've seen the smart players still hold the advantages.

Aye it seems logical that the population of idiots has gone up. I guess I'm just a little sour - I miss the olden days ;p

Things change sometimes. But I'm sure there's still a strong community out there, sometimes it just gets a little hidden.

You are seriously sitting at a game forum and judging people as unintelligent while patting yourself on the back? That doesnt seem very intelligent to me, but what do I know...

Just don't read the forums. I barely do so anymore. I find it helps. The only one I like is New Citizens. The excitment of a fresh noob reminds me why I started to play.
