I'm not sure but I think Jim's dead as well...
Jim's useless. As long as Bones is still alive, we'll be back up Soon(tm). (Edit: Okay, there was no page four or estimated startup time when I wrote this....)
My experience was borderline surreal. Warped from a belt to a POS, landed just off a moon, but nothing around me. Asteroids still on overview at 30.7 AU away. POS was showing up as "approach" and not "warp to" on the options. Warped to a different location a couple of times. It took awhile to enter warp each time, and when I exited I was alwasy back at that same moon. I even warped to the star and landed at that darn moon. Then I logged and couldn't get back in.

Every weekend during prime time play times we experience server shutdowns and lag. Really a shame that this game can not grow past this beta like state.
If you can find another game that requires the technology and innovation to have everyone on ONE server in a gameworld this huge that is always stable then go play it. There is a reason other companies don't take on massive projects like this, the hiccups should be expected, EVE is the first of its kind.
You are right...
CCP hosts the largest cluster I am aware of outside of academia. And with 30,000 concurrent clients. It's amazing- and even more so because I'm in the tech business and know the scale of what they have done.
I'd prefer they were more stable... but in reality they do pretty well.
we have the largest game server in the world current and we are looking to replace alot of the hardware that will put us into the top 500 super computers in the world or something like that.

Very interesting it happened NOW, after the new "hardware" had been installed, and NOT directly after the patch. *raising eyebrow*
Maybe we should start to collect old 486DX machines from the player community to help out a bit?

Go, Microsoft SQL, go. One of the worst comercial SQL systems ever made. If not the worst. Not worth a penny.

GMT is GMT. If you're an hour ahead of GMT because of daylight savings, you're GMT+1, and the estimated time is still 2:30 GMT.

how about we get a credit to our account for the 10% of time we pay for with a subscription but your guys take with primtime server downtime unannounced and the 1.25 days a month with the scheduled downtime. You turn the account of after 30 days if not paid. Yet it is ok to take time left and right from your customers and not even apologize. Great way to run clients away to a RELIABLE game. Great patch but work on the hardware. We pay enough for you all to have reliable systems. *this Place is For Rent* |
