Depends where in the US and the time of year. During the summer, it certainly can be daylight at 10 AM GMT.
Yes I suppose you are right there.. its a wide country.. though. Though I wouldnt be surprised if they just called it ZULU in JAG cause it looks cool..

QFT. CCP, for the sake of my sanity, please get rid of this. Just make it say "server starting up" instead.

We have identified two sound issues in the new Audio Engine in Revelations II that we have fixed and will release soon in the next client patch.
Would that include the repeating locking sound? which is kinda freaks me out in station, i can tbe dealing with being targeted there?! ******************************************

Honestly I think it's time to just give up on audio in EVE.
I personally accepted that I would never use in-game audio about 8 months ago when my computer could easily handle 2 clients missioning with windows media player playing an HD copy of TV shows but running only 1 client with audio enabled would periodically crash.

and you wonder why people ask for stuff in return you keep saying one thing and change it when the time gets near your new so called 'fixes' seem to be making more problems.

On what are you comparing these guys? They are unique in what they have created. Compare EVE's stability to other MMORPG games out there that are half as complex and you will find that CCP is doing a better job than anyone else.
At least they are actively letting us know that they are working on the issue, not waiting 2 days before acknowleging that there is an issue, like other companies out there (SOE comes to mind right off the top).
Cut them some slack, it's frustrating, but remember, it's just a game.
Yes, I am the exception that defines the rules. |

You are right...
CCP hosts the largest cluster I am aware of outside of academia. And with 30,000 concurrent clients. It's amazing- and even more so because I'm in the tech business and know the scale of what they have done.
I'd prefer they were more stable... but in reality they do pretty well.
we have the largest game server in the world current and we are looking to replace alot of the hardware that will put us into the top 500 super computers in the world or something like that.
Yup... I figured you would probably have ranking among them.
One of these days I hope you folks publish a paper (not basics) on how you pulled it off (Specifically the network traffic issues).
For instance, you are the *only* cluster/super computer I can think of that can support 30k UDP connections, and all that is entailed in that. The demands on TCP/IP/UDP alone simply boggle my mind. I'm a total ISO model junky... I live and breath it as an edge security guy (I dream packets man!!). But in your case it's not 30k connection as an ISP from/to separate servers and clients, you are centralizing everything to one cluster.
How on earth do you aggregate that traffic into a cluster? I mean the routing requirements for that much packet redirection has to be astounding. I can see how systems like WOW handle 3k connection per cluster.... but ten times that?
As far as I'm concerned if EVE is up for 5 minutes at a time you guys are geniuses. In addition to selling game time, you should offer a class on how to aggregate that much traffic to a single cluster.
I'm no 12 year old fanboi. I'm an engineer. I want to see the how-to published.
I would love to see this as well (if google can...) :)
PS: On the server issues I would feel better if they droped MS but hell even this way it works great and rev2 is well worth some downtime (even if my skill finnished just before the crash so nothing training right now :( ).
