Edited by: Weatherman on 25/06/2007 16:57:07 Edited by: Weatherman on 25/06/2007 16:55:55 So I just watch this episode where he got dropped off in the middle of a glacier in iceland and has to make it back to civilization. It was pretty cool, but is it true that Icelanders eat sheep ********* (starts w/ "test" rhymes w/ bicycles)? o.O

that brings up an interesting point about the language filter -- If CCP can eat them, how come I can't talk about them? lol

¦orramatur, the traditional Icelandic food, does indeed include the genitals of sheep. They are pickled in whey or something equally weird, and they taste...well. Let's just say I won't be going out of my way to seek them out again. And yes, all of us who work out of the Reykjavik office have had to try ¦orramatur...I think they use it as part of the hiring procedure.

This is true. This is just one of the many tests that a new employe must pass before we take them aboard, we also have "sarcasm" and "beer" tests just to name a few.

Edited by: Daedalus DuGalle on 26/06/2007 01:26:12 Heh...what wiki says about Bree is vastly amusing.
edit: After reading a few related links (e.g Hßkarl) I've come to the conclusion you icelanders are quite strange. I mean, how the heck did they find out after a poisonous shark rots it's safe to eat???

some of that ¦orramatur is definitly not kosher, but you guys should totally have a ram's ball eating contest at fanfest! You're probably going to need some pretty fantastic prizes to get anyone to participate tho.

At least they don't make you eat that semi-decomposed shark dish, or the one involving gonads and something nasty involving sheep. Ick!

From Wiki: 'Bree' 'at times [sic] is drunk as a "chaser" after sampling "hßkarl", which consists of putrified shark meat, to mask the meat's taste.'
WTF? I get eating strange foods and all... I even like cheese (really just a type of rotten milk)... but putrefactive shark meat? How many people die from botulism poisoning every year? That's taking things a bit too far, imo...

Thanks, you found the name of the semi-decomposed shark meat I mentioned.
It's just sick and wrong.

"Bree" actually comes from this:

I ate whale when I was in Iceland. It's really nice and I can totlaly understand why they're endangered.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |
