CB Games magazine reporter makes the following statement: "...according to mmogchart.com, EVE Online is actually one of the least popular MMORPGs around with CCP, EVE's developer/publisher, estimating over 170,000 active members. While that number appears to be growing steadily, compare it to the massively multiplayer monolith that is World of Warcraft."

Least popular?
They need a hit on the head with a clue-by-four so that they learn what "least popular" MMORPG means.
EVE Online is one of the top 10-15 out of thousands.

Quantity != Quality
I'll take an indepth game like EVE above your "ME have club! ME smash skulls!" type of game any day.
The only thing WoW has going for it is publicity and hype. The game offer nothing but a grind (I've tried it).

It didn't seem that unfavorable. "least popular" is quite a stretch though.. Maybe the author meant to say that EVE's subscription numbers simply pale in comparison to WoW.

Its not CCP's fault every 12-15 year old with grandmas's creditcard likes magic and horseriding over the emotional torment that is EvE online. If those kids played EvE Online, there would be a huge jump in suicides and emotional trauma in children. Let the children play WoW......the men (and internet chicks who are really guys) can play EvE.

Nope he plays wow and hates eve.. You can tell by this line..
Quote: Known as the "EVE Interstellar Bank Scam," a single player scammed others into investing in ISK until he had over 700 billion ISK. Sounds kinda ******** to anyone not involved in EVE, but it was actually a major event in the course of the game.
Everyone out of the game I know that I told that story too was like: "Whoaa.. You can do *that* in Eve? Cool! My game has artificial limits to what I can do.. "

Every game is a grind at its basic level. The difference is whether you enjoy it or not. Thats one nice thing with Eve. If you get tired of the grind, find a new way to do it. You can PVP (if your good), you can run missions, you can be a trader, a miner, a looter, an inventer etc etc etc.
While Eve certainly has its share of the grind, I dont know of any other MMO that has as many different types of grind as Eve does.

People who think "least popular" is an insult need to look up the word popular.
Add the fact that the article is baised from the outset (specifically linking Jalipo to beheadings) and that the author has all the journalistic talent of my hamster, and I think we can sleep soundly. _____________________________________________
