For some reason my CPU in task manager shows a big spike when I run EVE.....any ideas or why this may be happening?

perhaps its because EVE is a CPU intesive game and is using the CPU power for itself?

You have a terrible CPU there. Upgrade it.

Because CPU means Central Processing Unit? By definition everything running on the computer depends on it and the more complex the application the more it needs the CPU. What did you think they put one in every computer for - just to keep the case warm?

Who/what told you that was a problem? I've notice a recent trend to think heavy CPU loading is a concern.
In reality, if it doesn't use 100%, you have a problem that needs fixed.

eve is suppose to work on less than 1.0 CPU so no it runs better yes but that's because the client is.. well... like a clogged drain.
good thing a dev said trinity 2.0 is coming

That's just plain wrong. Where did you get such a broken idea from?

You might want to point out the relevant bit in there. I see nothing that says CPU loading gets capped.
And, if you have a faster PC, then you usually want the game to make make use of all the speed available.

There is a nice tidbit about how lag is well managed though:
"Having been designed from its earliest stages specifically as a MMOG, most of the game systems are devised to minimize network traffic and the effects of lag. This high-level approach makes EVE relatively unaffected by Internet latency."
Pretty much backs up what I've been talking about in the lag threads, - that stutter is often the problem when they complain about lag. People just seem to get the two confused.
