The Narath Asteroid Conservation Foundation was formed earlier this week. As of yet it has only a single pilot-member, myself. Now, I understand many people will believe the idea of protecting asteroids is ludicrous at best, and a justification for piracy at worst, but hear me out!
As has happened in so many terrestrial environments, our natural resources in space are being exploited with no thoughts of the consequences. Every day millions of cubic meters disappear from our beautiful asteroid fields. In the rush toward more resources, no one has thought about the potential long term repercussions. What if the potential next great discovery in some field is vaporized and sucked into your hold? Its secret forever lost merely because it was lodged in an asteroid? What if one day, as has already happened in at least 1 system, the fields are depleted entirely?
I realize these concerns may seem far fetched, but I believe at least a minimal amount of resources should be committed to preserving these geological monuments, our neighbors in the great black. To this end, the Foundation was formed. I plan on targeting initially the worst offenders, the miners everyone is familiar with. Those with nonsensical registered names in high security systems, who seem to use what may be a bastardization of Sansha technology to maintain a nearly constant, drone-like assault on these vulnerable natural wonders. I will attempt to discourage them with what tools I have at my disposal, including taking the fruit of their merciless affronts to nature and taking advantage of whatever other loopholes CONCORD laws give me.
My second initiative, in connection with this will be to recruit new pilots. Using the proceeds from the Foundations activities against the criminal antigeologists, these pilots will be outfitted with ships and equipment to discourage the rampant defacing themselves.
There will be a post on the Gal-Net recruitment section shortly with specifics of what the Foundation will providenew pilots wiht in return for their help combatting this menace. ---------

Wouldn't really matter as we wouldn't know anything about it! What if the next great discovery is not found because some whacked out weirdo made it so we can't mine anymore!
I say prep for dustoff, nuke the site from orbit...
Only way to be sure! |

Ahh, but if it wasn't mined, then it would be there, for some sorta asteroid-ologist to discover later. Seems like it makes sense to me. I dunno why I'm talking to people from non-podder corporations anyway. I like to be able to declare war on people I argue with. ---------

I spend most of my time in Lowsec anyways, save you the Dec cost! Asteroid-ologist, sounds even more boring than mining.

You should speak to Omber Zombie, some of his ideas are much more bizarre.

Yes, I do find this an odd venture to devote ones time to. That being said, you may find many of your targets in the Ivar system. Happy trails.
