Don&t know what can be done about this, but thats why you get empty slots at faction fits.
Guess I have to rebuild them by hand

yup to back this up with numbers:
machariel with gallente bs 3, 7x800mm 'scout' repeating artis, trajectory 4, 3 ambit rigs and 2 tracking computers without script: ingame i got 44km, but eft shows 59km with tracking computer off/scripted i get 42km ingame and 46km in eft.
alone the huge difference and amount of falloff stuff i added its clear that i miss a lot of stacking penality with the 2 tracking comps unscripted. -------------------------------------- Slave and Property of Kathryn Dougans. |

Dear Gripen, I really appreciate your work on the EFT and I like it very much. I would like to give you some feedbacks on the newest EFT2.12. 1. Ship setups were not saved after closing the EFT. It seems that the EFT2.12 will seldom save the .cfg file after being closed. Actually, I have created several setups of most of the frigates, battleships and electronic attack ships but only a Caldari Navy Hookbill.cfg, a Kitsune.cfg and a Armageddon Navy Issue.cfg were saved. I wonder how to solve this problem. Note I'm using Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium with F-secure and openoffice. I have never encounter such a kind of problem in the previous version of EFT.
2. The screenshot of ship setup is saved in a file of .jpg format, which is too large to spread on the Internet. It's known that many forums may have size limitations for uploading files. Therefore, I suggest that you use .png file format to save the screenshot. It's smaller and have better quality than .jpg file. Or you can have both output format coded in the EFT and let users choose. Additionally, http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/libpng.html (documents for .png format) and http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/png-sitemap.html#programming (sources) may help you.
3. This is a problem about the ships and modules. You can ignore this if you don't have time. As a pilot from Serenity (whose version is still in Quantum Rise), I cannot test ships and modules in Dominion. I have found that there is no stacking penalty for the falloff bonus between Projectile Ambit Extension rig and the Tracking Computer. I wonder if it is actually true in Dominion because if so, Vargur can get about 150KM+ falloff, which is imbalanced.
Thank you very much for reading those feedbacks.

This had been the same in the previous versions. Setups had only been saved when you close the corresponding window (for example if you fit a Megathron, you have to close that window). Otherwise setups are gone - or at least had been on my computer.

I think it is, Tracking Enhancer IIs now give quite a substantial bonus to Falloff range. As do the optimal range scripted Tracking Computer IIs. Add the Falloff bonus the Sleipnir gets anyway and you end up with lots of Falloff to play with.

To my knowledge PNG doesn't provide any higher quality/size ratio than JPEG format. Currently generated images are about 100kB at max. If you have troubles with such image size you can use other picture hosting sites to store the images and link those on the forums.

JPEG has unbeatable quality/size for photographs. For icons, text, white window areas and such, PNG is better. As a bonus, PNG is lossless with bit-for-bit accuracy giving vastly better screenshot quality and smaller size at the same time. PNG compression methdod is similar to ZIP, while JPEG's compression works a bit like MP3.

The first part of your post says "I don't think there's any difference". To which I respond: Jpeg is only better when dealing with photos. However, PNG does in fact provide a higher quality with smaller size when dealing with images like EFT screep cap generates. There are large monocolor areas that are compressed very well. Try taking screen caps of EFT and saving then as jpg and png and see the clarity/size differences if you don't believe us. Or just read Wikipedia's article on the subject.
The second part of your post relays a very different picture though, to which I respond: Really, if you don't want to do it, just say "I think jpg is good enough so I won't get to that. Here's a work around.".

I had this problem too. I closed EFT, deleted the 'setups' folder in the EFT folder, then reopened EFT and it work like normal (created a new setup folder). Copy your setups first if you want to save them. The problem seemed to be that the setups folder (and in past patches the char folder) becomes read only and wont change no matter what.

Great work, fast update, much appreciation. I have a thought for a new feature. Due to projectile ammo effecting not only range but tracking. It would be sweet to have a column, like the one for optimal + falloff, that shows the tracking of turrets instead of having to show info to see the tracking. Maybe make the columns show adjustable. Just an idea. Great work and thanks again.

FYI, it seems that Avast is having some major issues at the moment with false positives, including half my system files on one my computers - and as it calls it a virus (falsley, it's OEM software, in that case) you can't access it. The only soloution I've found is to uninstall Avast and swap to AVG until avast fixes it
Also, EFT rocks!

DO scan programs before you install/run them, folks! It'll save you. Someone out there is up to no good if they tell you to disable your virus scanner. If things are showing up infected, there's a reason!

Ack. You're correct. I kept searching around after this put a seed of doubt into my mind, and so I could see what this Delf-MZG thing was. Note to self: Kick Avast. <sigh>

I'm 100% sure I had a couple of Jaguar and Wolf fits saved yesterday and the day before that and when I decided to check them today they were gone and their cfg files aren't in Setups.
Before anyone asks, no I didn't touch those files and didn't delete the setups through EFT.

That Avast update is bringing up false positives on all kinds of stuff, not just EFT. Most people are getting a Win32: Delf-MZG trojan error. Check out their forums.
edit, it seems they have a fix out: Quote: Hello,
last night, avast had a bad false positive issue. At around 12:15am GMT we released VPS update 091203-0 which started flagging hundreds of innocent files as a "Win32:Delf-MZG" Trojan. Among the files affected were high-profile programs produced by Adobe, Realtek sound card drivers, various media players etc.
We are still investigating the issue, trying to find out what exactly happened and how to make absolutely sure it will not happen again.
At 5:50am GMT, another VPS update (091203-1) was released, fixing the issue. Those who have not used their computers between 12:15am and 5:50am will most likely not be affected.
If you're still using the bad VPS (091203-0) we recommend to invoke a VPS update immediately.
Our technical support team is currently preparing extensive HOWTOs about how to fix the situation for those who were hit by the problem.
We will be updating you shortly.
We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Thanks, Vlk

As said before in this thread, and confirmed by at least one other, it might be the same bug that I have.
If you have EFT on when shutting down Windows, Windows shuts EFT and fails to save any changes to fits you had. But if you manually close EFT before shutting Windows, the changes to fittings are saved fine.
So feel free to try and see if this is the case.

I wonder how to solve this problem. Note I'm using Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium with F-secure and openoffice. I have never encounter such a kind of problem in the previous version of EFT.
Same problem here. Setups are not saved. I've also tried a clean install of EFT with no success. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. EFT 2.11 was working just fine.

I've never encountered a problem with losing setup when closing EFT while having fitting window open.
Thanks a lot for the hint. I've changed permissions for "Users" group on setups folder, EFT have started to save fittings.

Before I start griping, thanks a ton for creating and updating this awesome tool for free.
So I just got bitten by the no-save bug, which threw away a couple hours of updating/creating fittings.
It looks like it was related to file permissioning issues, which is a total user-side issue and unfixable, but the program just quitting out without telling you that it threw away all of your modifications, that should be doable.
To prevent this problem from cropping up again, I suggest implement a file modification time check, so that after it saves the .cfg files, it checks the timestamp just to make sure that the save actually happened. If not, it can pop up a dialog box saying something like, "Couldn't save changes. Are you sure you want to quit?" |

3 standard disclaimers - I'm an eve newbie, EFT is a great tool for sorting out the vast sea of options, and I looked around for a previous answer to this question, but didn't find one.
On the EFT setup display, in the module list, there are 6 columns. CPU, Power, Charges, I get. Next to power, there is an icon I don't recognize, and I don't know what to do with the optimal value. Optimal would seem to be a binary thing. It is,or it isn't.
[update] duh. I just realized the symbol is for capacitor draw. I'm still confused about the optimal value though.

New EFT 2.12.1 still isn't saving properly for me. I did a bit more investigation and I don't think it's a permissions issue.
The problem seems to be that only the fittings for the last modified ship are being saved. This is reproducible with the following:
1) Rename the Setups folder to something else. 2) Start EFT (New Setups folder is created) 3) Create a new Reaper fitting 4) Create a new Ibis fitting 5) Close EFT
The Setups folder will only have Ibis.cfg, but not Reaper.cfg
Also, if you open up EFT again and create another Reaper fitting, but then modify the Ibis fitting before closing the application, Ibis.cfg will be modified but Reaper.cfg is still not created.
If it helps, I'm on Win XP.

I assume you are using a TP II with all lvl 5 as it seems to account for the numbers. The increase of 176 is approximately a 37.5% increase (as you would expect from all 5 TP2). The sig is now 646 and the second TP is applied to that. 211 is about a 32.7% increase and the reduction likely accounts for stacking penalty.
In other words the first painter is giving a 37.5% increase and the second a 32.7% increase. It seems to be correctly applied though I cant confirm if it works like that in game.

I checked and at lvl 5 it shows the rep to only consume 759 cap per cycle which is off aswell.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but I found that in Windows 7, you have to run EFT in Administrator mode in order to get setups to save.
I don't like running this in Admin mode as it opens your system up to become infected with some virus if the distribution becomes infected.
UPDATE:
I found a way to fix this.
1. Unzip the download of the EFT program and run the program for the first time. 2. Copy from your old EFT location your Setups and Characters folders. 3. Delete your old EFT folder, not the contents, the entire folder. 4. Copy the new EFT folder to where your old folder was located. 5. Setups are now saved without having to run in Admin mode.

I found a way to fix this.
1. Unzip the download of the EFT program and run the program for the first time. 2. Rename EFT2.12.1 to EFT. 2. Copy from your old EFT location your Setups and Characters folders. 3. Delete your old EFT folder, not the contents, the entire folder. 4. Copy the new EFT folder to where your old folder was located. 5. Setups are now saved without having to run in Admin mode.
Example:
1. Unziped EFT 2.12.1 in my downloads folder and ran. 2. Renamed EFT 2.12.1 to EFT 3. Copied my setups and characters folders from c:\Program Files\EFT into c:\downloads\EFT 4. Deleted the folder c:\Program Files\EFT. 5. Moved the EFT folder from c:\downloads to c:\Program Files. 6. EFT now saves your setups again.
It looks to be a permissions issue for some strange reason. I tried tinkering with permissions settings without any success. The above process seems to work. I hope this helps you all out.
Had the same problem under windows vista, came up with something similar, and until i restarted my computer it actually worked. but now its back to not saving my modified and/or new fittings. vista 32 with eft v2.12.1
bugfix plz XD _________________________________________________________

I bet this is an issue with the folder "virtualization" that windows 7 applies so that legacy programs can write to files in system folders (ie windows puts these files somewhere else and then symlinks them into the current folder...)
I notiecd after upgrading to 2.12 I lost many recent setups but my older ones were intact. I also had to run the app in xp sp2 compatability mode for it to even start (otherwise it threw a " is not a valid floating point error...

Hotfix for vista /windows 7 owners: backup, then delete the contents in c:\users\<username>\AppData\Local\Virtualstore\Program Files\eft\ and try running the application again. I found that there are some config residues that crashes eft, but I'm not sure what these are. Try moving these files back into the normal eft folder to set your characters/saves back. (for x64-users use "program files (x86)" instead)

Any chance the next version could have a recently used area that can be saved to like the favorates section, i always find myself using the same 50-100 modules and it would be super awsome to have access to them all and be able to save specifc sets away (like an armour tank list, shield tank missiles guns etc)
keep it up mate its definitly universally appricheated!

Is this a EFT bug? Or did aligning got nerfed somewhere in between 2.10 and 2.12? Or am I missing anything else?
I know align time did change recently when they nerfed agility on cruisers and stuff. For example the Exequror used to be super-sweet even with a plate and now it is average no matter what.
that must be it then... thanks. and damn, my frigs were so cool before that nerf...

The problem is you are putting EFT in Program Files. In Vista and 7 this is a protected directory and applications that are not escalated to admin can not write to it. EFT writes to it's own folder, so when it tries to save data it can not. Keep this outside of Program Files and on your desktop, My Documents, or just in the root of C: and it should be fine.
Confirming latest version works just fine on Vista & 7 when saving when in a user writable directory. |

Upon checking the EFT configuration file, I saw that the value for the "Autosave_Interval" was set to 0. Changed this to a 1 and now EFT is saving my setups. So far, it's saved every fit that I've entered without a hiccup. Might wanna try this and see if it works for you as well.

[update] duh. I just realized the symbol is for capacitor draw. I'm still confused about the optimal value though.
Optimal is a range at which module can work (for those modules which have limited activation range). For guns it's listed in <Optimal>+<Falloff> form and for missile launchers it shows approximate missile flight range (real range would be little lower). Calling this column a "range" would be less confusing but term "optimal" (short form of "optimal range") is generally used within EVE.
Originally by: Rhen Ayase Suggestion: Make a two Columns Between Optimal and Charge for SigRadius and ExplVelocity/tracking for weapons, i think thats kinda an important info, mostly for the new projectile charges.
Tracking, even together with gun signature radius says nothing about accuracy without intended target size and range. So I think that such column is not needed and if you want to compare turret tracking you can use DPS graphs.
Originally by: J'mee Leggs How do I import my character?
Open Character Editor (available in "View" menu). Create new character, open Import tab and fill User ID and API key in. In the window what will pop up after you click "Connect" select a character whose skills you want to be loaded.

Why can't you use favorites for this? Just create some subfolders in favorites and group frequently used modules as you wish.

AFAIK they were removed from LP-shop and now exist only as collector's items and it will be pretty useless to have them included.

It won't solve all the issues. It will try to save changes every minute but if you'll change two or more fits at once only one will be saved.

there is no installation involved - everything is run directly out of that folder - so no, you can't "update" your current EFT
however if you go into your old EFT folder you can chop out your fits and slap them into your most current EFT folder, this is the only important thing in my concern __________________________________________________________

That's an Eve API error, not eft error. You'll have Hull Upg at 4 in evemon and any other app using the api as well.

Err... there is much better way. Do this:
1) quit old version of EFT
2) unzip new version to the same directory - make sure your unzip tool creates full directory structure and overwrites all old files
3) run new version
This simple procedure will keep all your setups, characters and settings. If unsure, create a backup before you start. |

IIRC, eft assumes that if you're flying a nighthawk or any t2 ship, you will have the pre-requisites trained. Thus, as you need battlecruisers 5 to fly a nighthawk, it gives you the bonuses on the nighthawk whether you actually have BC 5 trained or not. Sikander 2 - as useless as the duck-billed platypus |

The shield resistance skills do not effect the shield harderns on them, or with further testing ANY ship. Try making a blank fit on a blank fresh EFT install. After chatting with a few corpies and this post. Sorry that was not my understanding, maybe that should be stated on a description somewhere in eve. Fail @ me and Fail @ CCP.
But i think my shield resistances bonus from ship doesn't work on vulture/nighthawk comment still stands. I am Davo, said like an english guy would say it, DAVE-o.

Just fail @ you due to CCP DID mention it in the Skill itself:
EM Armor Compensation To active armor hardeners: 3% bonus per skill level to Armor EM resistance when the modules are not active To passive armor hardeners: 5% bonus per skill level to Armor EM resistance
Bolded important part. :)

Originally by: Marko Riva API is down, that's why. It's only been allover the main forum, also the fact that EVEmon has issues should give you a clue.
This is good to know. Initially, I thought this might be the case but it had not worked for two days. So, I thought I would post. Admittedly, I did not check whatever thread mentions the status of API. (The prospect of trolling through the abundantly broad results of CCP's pathetic forum search engine never fails to depress me... though I do always try.) In this case, I had a problem with EFT, so I came here first.
Oh, and I do not have EVEmon installed, so that clue was not available to me at the time. However, I do have EVEmon installed on my work PC which was working fine only two hours before I encountered this problem at home.
Anyway, I have since confirmed that it is working today.
May I suggest incorporating some sort of error checking in the API connection process so that a message such as "API is down" or "Failed to retrieve character list: API may be down" will appear if the character list is unavailable? Or, at least, add to the FAQ a line that says: "If the API connects but retrieves no characters, chances are that the API interface is down." This might save the author the hassle of posts like these and save some time tinkering on behalf of us lowly users. ;)
...Not to sound crotchety or anything. I certainly appreciate the effort that goes into this fine tool!

Just downloaded it and i found a bug. The nighthawk resistance bonuses dont seem to be appling to the shield resists when i flick from no skills to lvl 5 skills. Well or any skills that effect the resistance bonus of shield hardeners either.
Don't troll me check out what i say before you mindlessly start typing.
The shield resistance skills do not effect the shield harderns on them, or with further testing ANY ship. Try making a blank fit on a blank fresh EFT install. Add 1 x Invul field II. flick from lvl 5 skills to no skills in the drop down box, NO change occurs in the resistances, same with the t2 resists effected by ship bonuses.
EDIT: Same with armor resists.
Maybe i wasn't clear, i hope this clarifies.
Regards Davo
Actually, it was my fault. After further research, i've noticed that no resistances are applying to any ships, from hardeners, at least. However, i've found that my statement about the nighthawk bonuses is also true - the t1 bonuses on t2 ships do not change with skill level. What i think happened here was a misunderstanding, so thats just fitting it all together. Sikander 2 - as useless as the duck-billed platypus |

Yes, I see the same issue with my Manticore setup, no damage indicated for the Bomb Launcher. Could have been a conscious effort to remove it from the DPS calculation, which sort of makes sense, given the long reactivation delay for bombs. But it should still show up for volley damage, I think.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before.
It's possible to end up with more turrets than turret slots on T3's if you change subsystems reducing the number of slots. Ie. Legion: Liquid crystal magnifier -> fit 5 turrets -> switch to any other offensive subsystem. I don't really consider it a bug, but it left me confused for a minute why EFT wouldn't let me drop any new modules onto the fit. A message box for convenience an idea?
Either way love this program, it's saved me tons of time (like when I lose all my saved fittings in EVE ).

In the base folder of EFT is a folder call Setups. That's where the ship loadouts are. As for settings, I have yet to find one that'll carry over. If you wanna transfer your characters, just transfer the Characters folder. That works fine and saves all of your API info.

I've checked it and it works fine and its description is up to date. If by "ST" you are referring to Shield Transporters then this rig shouldn't affect them. It affects Energy Transfer Arrays, Energy Neutralizers and Nosferatus.
Originally by: Chribba The mimir's slot layout needs to be looked at.
What's wrong with it? It's no longer possible to link it ingame but according to dominion dump slot layout should be 6-3-6.
Originally by: Wild Spirit There's an error with Shield Power Relays in EFT. For example, Shield Power Relay II: in game: Caprecharge -35%, Shieldrecharge +24% in EFT: Caprecharge +35%, Shieldrecharge -24%
It's a matter of terminology. By "CapRecharge" and "ShieldRecharge" EFT means capacitor recharge time and shield recharge time. In game information shows "cap recharge rate" and "shield recharge rate" bonuses. Higher recharge time means lower recharge rate thus the sign is inverted. But if you want to be absolutely correct it's the way module parameters presented in ingame information window is wrong because 35% increase in recharge time is not the same as 35% decrease in recharge rate.
---
For those of you who are still having issues with saving the changes I can only suggest to 1) make sure you're using latest version 2) make sure your are not running EFT from read-only folder like "Program Files" in Vista.
Otherwise if anybody could came up with the solid way to reproduce it, it would be very helpfull. Btw, is there anyone with this problem on XP or is it only Vista\Win7 issue?

It was nothing, it's showing 3 rig-slots in-game, however there are only two that can be used. So nm it is a client UI error, 6-3-6 is correct.

I would like to export Eve ship base statistical data to an excel spreadsheet. If the best way is to convert the EFT ships.dat file, then how would you suggest that I go about it? Or is there a better way to get the spreadsheet? I am looking to parse and sort ship data unaffected by skills or mods. Thanks. The key to pvp is effective fleet teamwork. |

Hi, I'm using this great tool at home, but would love to also be able to messa round with this in the free moments at the office. Since we are behind a proxy server, I can't import the character from the API. I've been in the Preferences menu, but the proxy fields are only the server and the port, and the proxy I'm behind has user and password too.
Is there a way to import from the API into EFT2 behind a passworded proxy?
Thanks!

You could always pull the relevant character file from your eft folder at home and then email it to yourself at work. Obviously it won't update if it can't continually pull the api but as long as you're not learning skills too quickly you could just manually update.

Actually it could make a ship stable which has a large ST, but EFT does not count that so a stable ship could only last few minutes in EFT.
I noticed it (with older version) when PC (running vista) is closed down without first closing EFT. I may try reproducing that later with latest version, I 'll get back to you on that.
I also have a question, why is there a roughly 20k differnce in EHP for my HAM drake fit when I compare stats in EFT and the in game fitting window ? Is there something that EvE does not take into account ? I was in space with active mods turned on BTW so it's not that. --------------------------------------------

When I use the damage graph and set the attacker as a missile ship (Drake) and target as an interceptor (ares), the damage increases when I turn OFF the MWD. However, if I assign target painters against the Ares to increase its sig radius, the damage goes up.
I tried it with a Raven shooting at a Vexor and had the same issue. Damage goes up when the MWD is turned off.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? I would think the big sig radius increase for having a MWD on would increase the damage as well.

Playing around with the Tempest and Typhoon on 2.12.2
EFT is not properly calculating the volley damage. It doesn't add the missile volley to the turrets volley. IF there are turrets + missiles present - it only counts the turrets volley.
Try it on the Typhoon and you'll see what I mean.

It's not a bug. Missile+guns volley is by no mean a volley since damage won't come at same time. -- 081014 : emoragequit, char transfered to a friend, 090317 : back to original owner blog |

This is normal, particularly when shooting at a ship a size class smaller than your weapon class... The speed boost from the MWD decreases the damage more than the sig increases it.

I have had the same problem as the other 2, with EFT not saving my fittings. Your description here of why that's happening would be correct if it were that I/them had multiple EFT's open. Being that I run only 1 instance of EFT and open multiple ships/fittings within the 1, this is not my cause, and therefore I doubt theirs either. EFT's current version will only save up to 1 new ship for fitting at a time when it is closed, and sometimes if you have multiple new ship fittings to be saved it will save none of them.

Doing it this way does seem to work for me as well, but if I open multiple new ships (without any fittings) and create 1 or more fittings for each, then EFT won't save any of them.
Also, I'm running Windows XP SP3, so it's not just Vista. I'm a PC tech and before ever hitting the forums verified my rights to the folder suspecting somehow it became read-only to me, but hadn't. I can create new files no problem, but read above for my exact issue. I have created new shortcuts to it (someone mentioned this worked for them), no change. Opening directly, no change. If you want any specific info, let me know and I'll get it for you.
By the way, still a great program! Just wish I hadn't forgot to back it up before wiping my PC a few weeks ago, causing me to have to update to this new version that isn't working right for me... Oh well. :)

View -> Charachter Editor -> Import tab. You need your User ID and API key available from eveonline.com

As an example, in BattleClinic.com, there is this loadout: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/25222-BUFFER-tank-drake-with-f-ck-you-dps.html. It states there should be a dps of 667. EFT states the dps should be around 361. Am I doing something wrong?

All I can say is, excellent program, but I have noticed a slight problem.
I could not for the life of me work out why I was not cap stable in game, but under EFT, the build was cap stable. I checked that my implants I was using currently were installed were correct in my character editor page, they were. I had been scratching my head for days and still not getting any where, so I decided to check that the program had correctly imported my skills correctly. I am afraid to say that the program does not list some of the current skills that are in game. The example from personal experience is Nanite Operation and Nanite Interfacing, if you have these skills trained and are Active Armour Tanking, these 2 skills will impact on your cap and repair bonuses in game, but do not appear to impact on EFT stats, nor do they appear in the character editor screen. In this particular case, just having Nanite Operation at level 2 impacted on my CAP by over 5% (EFT reads 43% Cap Stable, In Game 38%) and as soon as I go Level 3 Nanite Operation , it will not be cap stable.
I thought I would just point out this slight hassle. Again, a top little program and thanks to Grippen for building it .
Oh....Current program is EFT Version 2.12.2

I had a thought for a useful feature. An orbit speed at 'x' distance readout. With experience, you can sort of guestimate by looking at the ships speed and align time. But in practice, you need to fit the ship and orbit someone.

I'd like to reiterate the glitch pointed out by Adehlea in post 4514.
If you fit a t3 ship and then change subsystems so the current hardpoint fitting is impossible, then EFT will not display any warnings but will also not let you add/change modules until you delete the extra modules.
For instance, on a blank tengu fit: adaptive shielding dissolution sequencer augmented capacitor reservoir accelerated ejection bay intercalated nanofibers
then fit 6 heavy missile launchers
then change the augmented cap reservoir to a capacitor regeneration matrix (-1 launcher hardpoints)
the fit will be stuck until you remove one of the missile launchers

Reinforced is the maximum DPS (of the damage type selected - make a damage profile) that you can tank. In other words 100 shield regenerated per second with 75% resist is a 400 dps tank.
Sustained is what you could tank "for ever" by pulsing your mods on and off. If you are capstable (which I never am) then sustained and reinforced would be equal. |

Eve ingame will calculate it based on all mods running at same time, whereas in eft you may have one turned off thats not need constantly, like a salvager. Or if your in a wormhole when checking ingame data it can be affected. |

Faction missile launchers are better than T2 but with specialization skills for tuurrets, the same does not hold true. If you have the skills then T2 is better than faction for guns.

Nice thought, but the idea is to download it from a few trusted sources. Rampant mirrors could mean versions with keyloggers, and we wouldn't want that now, would we?
Edit: My earlier issue with hardwires not applying has been sorted. I was editing characters (one with hardwires, one without) but the hardwires were already applied under the ship setup itself. User error. :/ |

As far as I can see, the DPS graphs don't take any account of EWAR modules fitted to the 'target'. Is there any chance of adding this in? I'm thinking particularly of being able to see effectiveness of TD's and/or damps (I can see that ECM can't really be represented in this way since it is chance-based and binary in nature, and TP's show up already since they are 'offensive' modules.)

DEFENCE EFFICIENCY:
I want to make sure i understand defence efficiency correctly. Say i have a Passive Shield Tank Drake fitted with the following at ALL SKILLS LVL 5: 4 x Shield Power Relay II, 1 x Lrg Shield Extender II, 3x Invul Field II, 3x Med Core Def Fld Purger I.
This gives me the following stats: 55,498 ehp 10117.5 shield capacity 179.4s recharge time 141.03 hp/s peak self-recharge 43,382 shield effective hp
along with the following shield resistances: EM 67.8% Therm 74.3% Kin 80.7% Exp 83.9%
This give a sustained defence efficiency of 605.
Now am i right in thinking that this sustained defence efficiency means that if theoretically someone attacked me dealing even damage across the 4 damage types that given the amount of damage cancelled by the shield resists along with the amount and rate of the shields recharge that i can effectively tank upto 605dps indefinately (ignoring the cap issues of keeping the invul fields running)
And if this is right am i right that by right clicking and doing custom profile i can change the damage ratio to that of say Antimatter M (14Kin Dmg, 10Therm Dmg/58%Kin 42%Therm) which would have a defence efficiency 642.
Sorry this is a bit long winded but i want to make sure i understand this properly.

Yes it works that way. However that's just your tank on paper. It doesn't take your signature, your speed (against missiles) or transversal (against gun ships) or any other effect into account. Therefore treat it with caution and don't build a ship around EFT stats without taking the rest into account. :)

That said, those things can only work in your favour. Nothing can hit harder than it's "paper" DPS, only weaker...
Edit: with the assumption of evenly distributed damage types taken into account, that is...

Check the following: 1. That you updated your profile through the API (this has to be done manualy every time you "skill") 2. That you are using the same META version Modules 3. That you haven't changed skill levels in EFT for fits.

thanks for the answer. 1. I've just updated it one more time. Found new skill i've got. 2. Here i'm not sure. I see modules "Photonic CPU enchancer" and "Photonic CPU enchancer I". In game i have versions I and II. Anyway in game i use T1 versions. 3. I don't changed anything in EFT.

In the setup/fitting screen, right-click the module, go to Change Affecting Skill and set the appropriate skill level you want to check it as. In your case, right-click the Mining Upgrade module.

Confirmed with v 2.12.3 as well.
Some changes to the subsystems disallow changes to the modules and you have to either start deleting stuff until it works or scratch the whole thing.

If you fit more turrets\launchers than ship can use you won't be able to fit anything until you remove excessive weapons. It was reported already but for some reason I forgot to fix it. I've added this issue to the first post.
Originally by: Nundinae Meretricis It appears that the description feature of EFT 2.12.3 is not working properly. When I attempt to look at the description of an item all I get is a blank screen.
It is intentional because most descriptions are useless like "This is a gun. It can be used to shoot stuff". Only for those modules whose purpose isn't clear from their name or parameters descriptions are present.
Originally by: Ecid Q'Wulf I think i discovered a bug concerning wormwhole effects not applying correctly.
e.g.: Cataclysmic Variables -Armor bonus dont -Shield bonus dont - capacitor recharge rate bonus does not - Armor repair and shield boost mali and capacitor amount bonus do
Cataclysmic Variable penalizes local shield boosters and armor repairers and boosts performance of remote boosters/repairers. It also increases total capacitor capacity and capacitor recharge time what yields same capacitor recharge rate. All those effects are working as intended.

Please report any issues with it to me ingame. (I expect potential issues with localized characters in names... can't check myself)
Also thank you Gripen for the EFT - it's a good game by itself, aside from it's intended (fitting helper) purposes :) -- Thanks CCP for cu |

e.g.: Cataclysmic Variables -Armor bonus dont -Shield bonus dont - capacitor recharge rate bonus does not - Armor repair and shield boost mali and capacitor amount bonus do
Cataclysmic Variable penalizes local shield boosters and armor repairers and boosts performance of remote boosters/repairers. It also increases total capacitor capacity and capacitor recharge time what yields same capacitor recharge rate. All those effects are working as intended.
I just looked again at the 2.12.3 Version:
If you go for Cataclysmic Variable Class 6 (e.g.) It states in EFT as follows: Armor Repair -50% Shield Boost -50% Armor Bonus +100% Shield Bonus +100% Capacitor +100% CapRecharge +100%
I dont know if the Values shown under INFO/Parameters are faulty of if they are aplied wrong. However its one of those.
ps.: also since 2.12.3 EFT is interfering with TS. Basically when your using Push to talk with either a mousekey or a keyboardkey and switch to Teamspeak it gets, you keep "pushing to talk" even tho you already let go of teh button. THe other way around it works too. If your in EFT (highlighted) and use your push to talk key, nothing happens in Teamspeak. It wasn`t present in 2.12.1 tho is in 2.12.3. Its only a minor annoyance tho. ________

Would it be possible to get one neat feature to EFT:
Right-click somewhere on the ship setup's stats-part to get option to "copy all numbers to clipboard as text", that is tank, resist, EHP, the whole number "jungle"?
Would be neat just to show the text-list for setup and EHP+numbers as text instead of the usual screen-shots.
Probably is a quite big thing, but just thought... pretty please?
:)
Anyways... and not to forget: much thanks for this awesome program!

It seems as though T2 rigs are not being stacking penalized. A few tests:
Vindicator with 7x Cormack's mag stabs+cormack's neutron blaster ROF: No rigs: 3.8537 Aerator I: 3.8533 Aerator II: 3.65954
Much faster with a T2 rig, the extra 5% due to it being T2 surely does not account for the massive increase.
Megathron, 7x cormack mag stab+neutron blaster II ROF: No rigs: 4.14376 Aerator I: 4.14333 Aerator II: 3.93499
It definitely isn't isolated to just the Vindicator.
Deimos, 6x mag stab II's+heavy neutron II ROF: No rigs: 2.76437 Aerator I: 2.76259 Aerator II: 2.62361
Nor is it isolated to just large rigs. Perhaps it's only ROF?
Deimos, 6x mag stab II's+heavy neutron II damage mod: No rigs: 13.66952 Collision I: 13.67828 Collision II: 14.30002
Nope, also broken with damage mod. Maybe lasers aren't borked?
Armageddon, 8x Heat Sink II+Mega pulse II ROF: No rigs: 3.10748 Aerator I: 3.10744 Aerator II: 2.9512
Hmm, maybe it's only damage mods?
Abaddon, 7x Armor EM hardener II, armor EHP under 100% EM damage profile: No rigs: 225579 Anti-EM I: 225649 Anti-EM II: 225660
Ok, resist rigs work normally. Now how about nano rigs?
Armageddon, 8x Overdrive II, speed No rigs: 185 m/s Auxiliary I: 185 m/s Auxiliary II: 185 m/s
Armageddon, 8x Inertial Stabilizer II, align time No rigs: 7.1 Low friction I: 7.1 Low friction II: 7.1
Speed rigs seem fine. The only other thing I can think of testing that also has stacking penalties would be missiles, so...
Raven, 5x BCS II, Siege launcher II, ROF: No rigs: 5.45508 Accelerator I: 5.43872 Accelerator II: 5.16449
Seems all rigs relating to damage and are also T2 aren't stacking penalized. Makes for some crazy EFT dps numbers (the Vindi is 2671 dps overheated.)

Try fitting 3 invuls, then turn on an EM-specific hardener and watch your EM resist shoot up. Same reason.

Seeing similiar on Harbinger, but with power grid. In game it lists the power grid as 1500, but EFT is giving it 1545 (value is before any skills).

Just thought i would say that the bonus's for the faction ships are wrong, that is the blood raider ships ect.
Example is the Bhaalgorn (Blood raider Bs) It says that the ship has a 50% reduction in large energy turret cap use. But in game it has a 100% dmg bonus to large energy turrets. This is a problem when trying to setup one the the ships because the damage is wrong and the cap.
I know this may have already been addressed in one of the erlier pages but i did not feel like reading through the last 100 or so pages looking for this.
Is there anything i can do to change this or a patch o something.
Thanks

Upgrade to the current version. Or instead of using Alt-F4 or click the X in the upper right of the window frame, close the individual ship pages inside the app. Then click the menu item File -> Exit to close the app.
My guess is that the version you're using isn't catching the exit window message thrown when you use alt-f4 or the X button to kill the app's window, so it never saves your changes. File -> Exit and closing the individual windows throws a close window message which is being handled by the app.

Also, I tried putting a dd on a titan before, and as soon as I add any XL kind of sized weapons, the volley slams into the ground. Is this a bug or is it maybe about range differences or something? And lastly and most importantly, the sustained/reinforced defence efficiency is for DPS, right? so if it reads, oh, 816 for both, I can take a beating of 816 DPS assuming the beater is using the damage types I chose?

No its not ;) I just checked again (V2.12.3) and the bug isnt that the 5% bonus is not calculated, its even calculated without skills. Viator shows for me (no fitting) with "Without Skills" 3750m& where it should show 3000m&
edit: ok my mistake, forgot that you need the industrial V skill to fly the transport Ship, so i guess its ok when EFT just calculates it hardcoded with 1,25 factor

Yes, EVE is a bit tricky that way, but the module was fitted and online. Also, it tells me my cap will deplete in 7m 15s, whereas EFT says I'm cap stable. I put it to the test, and for the last 15 minutes, my BS has had all modules activated, and is indeed cap-stable at 40% as EFT claims.
Though EVE reports something different, it apparently calculates the right numbers behind the scene. Curious, small and probably very specialized bug. But baring any obvious mistake or oversight on my part, there it is.

I think I found a bug, well at least a difference between EVE and EFT.
In EFT basic versions of signal amplifier (low cpu ones) get the 'electronic upgrades' skill bonus applied(reducing the CPU use even more. In EVE this does not happen.
EVE module description makes one think it should get the CPU bonus, but looking at skill requirements for the basic versions make me believe the EVE behavior is correct. No electronic upgrades is required, so it not getting the bonus makes sense.

Skill bonuses differ as well
and i have no idea why this is so :(

Marghulis- Not telling you to suck eggs or anything but are you looking at your stats whilst docked? If so EVE does not calculate modules that are not passive i.e active hardeners/extenders bonus will not be added to your ship whilst docked.
Hope that is the answer if not then its a bug most probebly, qudos to EFT excellant program been using it since i started EVE and is a wonderful addition to any EVE player

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but 150 pages no thanks... There should be an auto price update button. It's annoying to have to fit something in order for it to display it's in-game market value. I just downloaded EFT and I assume it updates everything daily if I set it to, but I'd like to have something more real-time.

OK well I guess I have to say I like having EFT, but its got an INSANE LIST of problems. EHP IS NOT correct AT ALL, I have checked everything including active mods for tank while in space, not in station everything turned on. Most of the people I know in game say the same thing. Next is that I am trying to do some research on fittings, tanking and so on but CANT DO CRAP where the super carriers are concerned because NONE of the stats have been updated. And the list goes on.
I am not trying to be a jerk or anything, I like the tool, saves alot of headaches, but leaves some behind that I figured for as long as the tool has been around, would have been fixed by now. At the very least having updated ship stats to match eve, I already read posts that pertain to ships that have been around for some time that still arent correct. Does this forum actually get read so issues can be addressed and then are they actually ever fixed?

While EFT has some issues atm, lets stay a bit more realistic, shall we?
EFT EHP is correct, eve EHP is also correct, but EFT EHP is more correct. They calculate it different, eve uses worst case scenario for damage types, eft uses whatever you tell it to use, which is on default all damage types equal.
And i got an aeon to 150M EHP (with my EFT warrior skills), i really doubt that would have been possible without super carrier boost in eft.

The cormorant cap is now back at 500, instead of 475, as listed in the current built (2.12.3). |

But EVE itself still lists the activation as 400 GJ
I thought the blame was EFT, but actually EFT is correct, and it seems EVE Online somehow ignores my Shield Compensation V. Anybody know about this?
Undock in your ship, right click and show the info of the shield booster, then check if it's using 360 or 400Gj ------------- Rough Necks Alliance

Would an option to save and restore setups windows on exit/startup be useful?
Excellent work maintaining EFT so far

Hello.
Seems like I found a bug. I can't compare DPS of different ships on 1 graph:
I open DPS graph, choose target ship and attacker ship №1. EFT shows me correct graph. Than I add attacker ship №2 - EFT again adds correct graph, BUT here comes the trouble: EFT autoscales grid for 2nd dps graph and does nothing with 1st graph, and 1st graph becomes incorrect (it doesn't change its shape, just in new grid it is incorrect).
Hope you understood what I meant

the vessels in question that i'm referencing are the Pirate faction cruisers. specifically the Ashimmu, Gila, and Vigilant.
Also on the Gila the Dronebay m3 and bandwidth are wrong.
*EDIT* disregard... apparently i had an older version. |

Hello, I have a feature request.
It would be fantastic if fits could be tagged or somehow categorized. For example, I have "Cheap PvP" fits, "Expensive PvP" fits, "Exploration", "PvE", etc. It would be great if I could browse available fits by user defined categories. Just listing the ship type and fit name would be great.

It would also be nice if EFT had an auto update available. I am currently using 2.11. But I noticed someone say that they had 2.12. Is there a link within EFT I missed that will update it? |

OK total newb question here, hoping someone has tried this and knows for sure... I'm currently using EFT 2.9.1. If I install 2.12.3 on top of my current install, will I have to re-import all of my characters and copy/paste my ship setups, or do those stay in place? |

Is it really so difficult to understand that you need to use the latest version? I don't think you should be using a computer.

Is there any plans on making it possible to have different color themes and stuffs like that for EFT in the future?.
