Edited by: Helison on 03/07/2007 14:17:40 Yesterday we had a smallish capital-fight with only 20 ppl in local and we had massive problems with desync. The only thing which helped, was relogging. It¦s impossible to predict a fight, when desync hits in. Perhaps my carrier would still be alive if we had no desync + lag (including traffic control...), but well it was a very risky fight.
PS: My fighters killed a BS, while I wasn¦t able to see them. I launched them and they were never shown as "in space". After relog I was able to see them, but most of them were already dead.

What an incredible Job by CCP's QA department. How on earth this code got deployed is a staggering failure in a software project. You will desync with a 10v10 fight...how was that too hard for the testers to replicate. I am beginning to think that nothing was tested.
The feedback from GM's regarding this is unbelievable. They assume you are an idiot, and offer you advice such as "lowering the resolution". FPS is not the problem, I can happily watch my ship desync at 70FPS, I don't need to see it at 80 thanks.
So CPP ...sack your project manager, putting a faulty product out on time, is far worse than delivering a working one late.
It's amazing that you actually managed to break your own game

now I know you're complaining of desync, not lag, and yes, I agree it is a serious problem that needs to be fixed asap.
However,
Numerous times I've heard pilots (primarily including those in your own alliance) point out how you are to be very careful with your overview settings to fight lag - including, of course, turning off your wallet flashing.
And yet here you are with your wallet flashing, velocity column showing and red all over your overview, and a few chat channels open. Am I misunderstanding something?

To be honest OP, there doesn't appear to be an "error" like what one would expect... for example: 404 Not Found. Page does not exist.
Frankly speaking, for lack of a better error message popping in your screen or on a logserver, I'd say that's just a bad spike of lag between what's going on server side and client side.

desyncs don't seem to be related to lag, at least not the type of lag we've all been experiencing for years.

Here's my best desynch shot: Linkage
I got primaried in my caracal, hit warp to a SS, died before I got into warp, and got my pod out. Fetched an executioner and warped to the same safespot to find my Caracal sitting idly in space... I couldn't board it though, as it wasn't actually there. -----
