Edited by: Scara Ni on 03/07/2007 20:24:47 I'm not sure how aware everyone is about the resent explosion of gold advertizing. For example the finnish speaking channel is overrun with gold selling ads to an extent that one must block and petition an advertizing player every 10 minutes.
I propose a change in the trial chatting rules to futher limit the potential annoyance these gold farmers utilize with the trial system:
- Restrict the use of existing channels from the Trial accounts. Rookie Help and the Newbie Corp is more than enough to accomodate new players with information with the game. New trial players with friends playing could form a new channel to chat with their friends or mayby implement an invite possibility for new players to the existing channels. - |

Yeah. There's is never a clean, spam-free chat in the ships channel that I can peacefully ready without being rudely interupted by a stupid ISKies Advert.

The noob corps are getting spammed just as much & how do you think it looks to new players when they get flooded out with Isk Sellers ads ? How hard do you think it is when your explaining how to use the map to find agents & the steps are cut up with ads inbetween.
Start blocking URL's from being shown. After they've brought 10 or so domains they must start loosing money. You'll have to block tinyurl etc but its just part of the cost or ridding this cancer.
Reguardless of how much money they are making off the subscribed farmers they need to be removed. ______________________________

Or just change it so that the moderator or creator of the channel can restrict trial accounts from joining.
Could add the same setting to the inbox options. "Exclude trial account mails (yes/no)"
That should solve the trial account isk spammer problem.

They still need to moderate the noob corp channel, same as they do the rookie channel. ______________________________

Can't they log the chats and monitor them for certain keywords? If a certain threshold of occurrences is reached trigger a review by a GM.

I think what you want is a spam filter. 99% of the spam I see in chat posts the same website. A quick and easy fix for sure that would lead to more clever spamming, but it is at least the basic first step. Beyond that there's moderating and personal filters (block all accounts < 1 day old, etc).

CCP need to do something. They do not have to completly stop it, all they need to do is force up the costs. If the ISK farmers profits go down they will move to other games.
Blocking URL's would help, allowing players to vote (right click mark as spam etc). Allowing ISD to mute trial accounts that spam allowing CCP to use more resource on the problem and freeing up GM to concentrate on taking out the networks.
Another thing that they could do instead of banning trail account that spam, just mute them so there message does not appear for anyone but them, this way they do not know they have been stopped and waste time spamming with blocked accounts instead of making new accounts.
Another thing they could do is change the client so it tells CCP what accounts it has been used with. If the client lists spammer accounts the servers ignore there connection attempts so they think they have connection problems or have they have to do a clean install each time slowing them down driving up there costs.
They could also slow them down by block trial accounts from paste messages in chat, that why they have type each message by hand. Additionaly limiting the number of channels that can be opened by trail accounts to say 5 at any one time, limiting that they can do to set up a spam run before they are blocked.

Mae reporting easier, allow people to right click a name, then report as isk seller, macro miner, etc. Then confirm, and voila. If enough people then report someone, the gm should look into asap.

The problem is that source of the money is not being stopped. While the trial account advertisers are being stopped, the real accounts that are farming the isk up are not. Stop the source and they will stop in their tracks cold. I would suggest that CCP conduct an investigation on their own dime to stop this. Heck for what $8.85 they could track down the people distributing them and ban them instantly. Would they rather pay an extra GM ~$1000 - $2000 a month to moderate all these spam or use that same cash to conduct stings in game. Is that a loss for them? Well, not really if you consider the account they banned has bought the game for $20, and probably paid a monthly fee for X number of months. Though if you really look at it from that perspective... what incentive do they really have financially for stopping the isk sellers?

just set up a trail universe 100 systems, down to 0.3 sec only available items is those that you can use as a trail and then its solved, and people that find it interesting will activate an account to get the full exstend of the game ___________________________________________ Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward.
