Edited by: Living Light on 06/07/2007 02:52:00 This game is changing as weather at any slight notion of some opinion. To play the chess you must have the RULES!
To PLAY this game CCP MUST agree what they must preserve as the RULES of the game and N E V E R change them.
It is now a very DARK (KALI?) feeling about the game that CCP does everything to nerf everything they invented in every part of the game.
Nothing seems stable or positive. I am difinetely playing a different game now.

Ever wonder how long it took them to get chess to be the perfectly-balanced game it is today?
"ZOMG nerf rookz they r overpowerd!" "rookz r fine, nerf nitez"
In order to completely "lock down" the game, CCP would have to never add another thing to it. Otherwise something would end up "out of whack" and need to be adjusted.
I dunno about anyone else, but playing a stagnant game is not my idea of fun. -------------------

Edited by: Matthew Cooper on 06/07/2007 02:57:44 Chess is a game with 64 positions, 6 units, 2 players, and is also turn based. EVE is a game that has (currently) 34,000 or so players on at peak, is made up of hundreds of solar systems, with players flying dozens of ships, using thousands of different module configurations, all interacting in real time. Do you think it's possible to make a rule set for a game this complicated that is perfect the first time or won't need to evolve over time?

1. its a mmorpg, preserving stuff = death 2. eve is supposed to be a dark place 3. yes its quite unstable at times, that is imo sadly the nature of online gaming with up to 30k in the same world..

a good point.
But this is already a well developed game and it is fun to master the rules we started with. Now the fundamental changes with chemistry, lottery, inventions etc., create a situation when you no longer care about the game as before. The new changes will bring more complications and more disappointments as in 2-3 months all add-ons will be nerfed back to nothing.

You are correct in the very essential Matthew, but let me change one of your numbers to better reflect the truth. The number of star systems..
Also, while in Chess there are 32 figures (2 rows on each sides, each holding 8 figures) the sided battles in EVE can be of thousand players plus their drones!! Then you have the added modules and its effects etc.
