What other MMO can offer such an accurate simulation of sound in space?
hawhawhaw, latenight post, ibtl and all that forum foolishness. But seriously, whats the deal with the new sound engine they were talking about a few months back? I really want to be able to fire ze missles without it totally locking up the client. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Quote: Sound travels in waves like light or heat does, but unlike them, sound travels by making molecules vibrate. So, in order for sound to travel, there has to be something with molecules for it to travel through. On Earth, sound travels to your ears by vibrating air molecules. In deep space, the large empty areas between stars and planets, there are no molecules to vibrate. There is no sound there.

Ive had a sound bug with the new sound system that makes it sound like my speakers got broken. Only happens sometimes when there is lots of different sounds and lag. If I can find a way to reproduce it, ill bug report it, but its difficult to reproduce.

I get it too. If I'm alt tabbed during warp it usually comes up garbled like broken speakers. Combat sounds seem to be a little bit better, but it still can't handle lots of things shooting at once very well. Everything gets chopped up.

from a RP point of view, it has already been stated that the sound your pod pilot hears is artificially added to make piloting the ship easier.
From a game play point ov view, the only sound I hear is TS.

READ YOUR EVE HISTORY
Its all in the scientific articles of EvE as to why there is sound is space.... And yes I have nothing better to do since EvE is but a distant dream...at least it will be for the next 13 months -----------------------------------------------

You know, it's funny... I've played EVE with the sound off, with the sound on, with the four volume levels at all sorts of different levels, windowed, full screen, with turrets and effects on and off, with varying degrees of translucency in the HUD, showing empty modules, hiding empty modules, showing and hiding passive modules, showing and not showing percentages...
No matter what configuration I run the game in, I have NEVER noticed any given change altering the game's performance. Not once in the two years I've been playing this game has turning the sound off made my game run noticeably faster. I've quite often run it in what is, apparently, the most laggy possible configuration, and EVE has never failed to run anything other than perfectly for me. This is a truth that has held true for me across three different computers, one of which was the most temperamental system it has ever been my misfortune to use.
So either I'm the most infinitely lucky person to play this game, I'm completely blind, or you're all a bunch of griping old women who make up problems where none exist. I'm going with the last option ***
