Is it just me or do all new skills tend to land in one of these two categories ? (with Industry as a third). While I appreciate that new skills enrich the game each skill set used to be a neat package for what you wanted to get in to however now these categories have more than one "purpose" and are really getting to be too long. Personally I think that it would be more manageable if they were split in to two(or more) other skill trees ie Science ...Advanced Laboratory Operation ...Archaeology ...Astrogeology ...Astrometric Pinpointing ...Astrometric Triangulation ...Astrometrics ...Biology ...Cloneing Facility Operation ...Cybernetics ...Duplicating ...Genetic Engineering ...Infomorph Psycology ...Laboratory Operation ...Metallurgy ...Mnemonics ...Nanite Control ...Neurotoxin Recovery ...Research ...Research Project Management ...Reverse Engineering ...Science ...Scientific Networking ...Signal Aquisition ...Thermodynamics Technology ...Amarr Encryption Methods ...Amarrian Starship Engineering ...Astronautic Engineering ...Caldari Encryption Methods ...Caldari Starship Engineering ...Electromagnetic Physics ...Electronic Engineering ...Gallentean Encryption Methods ...Gallentean Starship Engineering ...Graviton Physics ...Hacking ...High Energy Physics ...Hydromagnetic Physics ...Hypernet Science ...Laser Physics ...Mechanical Engeenering ...Minmatar Encryption Methods ...Minmatar Starship Engineering ...Molecular Engineering ...Nanite Engeneering ...Nucular Physics ...Plasma Physics ...Quantum Physics ...Rocket Science ...Sleeper Technology ...Takmahl Technology ...Talocan Technology ...Yan Jung Technology
I'm not sure of the naming but you get the idea that all of the requirement for Tech2 as well as hacking and understanding foreign Technology. that way each tree has a more defined purpose.

Though I a not sure about the naming I do think you have a point there. I have been getting more and more iritated with the growing science list of skills.
I would go a little further even to make things even clearer, assign the following groups: - Scanning - Mechenical engineering - Science - Technology
This would for all of us make things easier to find and for the new players more understandable. There used to be a time when you where able to tell by the thing you wanted to do under which category you should be looking, right now most of the things do seem to land under Science.

What's the point?
What perceived problem does your suggestion solve?
What benefit does your suggestion provide?
Is scrolling in one list really any worse than expanding and searching through 2+ lists?

Well. trying to figure out which skills relate to scanning would be easier with this method. just buy skill books in the scanning section of the skillbooks market.
Same with research or with technology(t2 ) stuff.
sure you can read all the skill book descriptions under science...but it is a bit unwieldy and leads to confusion under new folx..or like me just new to scanning. (I had missed a skill because I didnt realize it w as scanning related in the science list)

Edited by: Gerbil Intaki on 10/07/2007 07:57:56 I've also bought skills which I've already got because I'd over looked them on the list
I also think that Mechanic and Industry could be split in to
Mechanic, Construction and maybe Rigging. Industry, Mining and maybe Refining.
I realise that "there are bigger problems than this" but I cant see it being that hard to have a re-org of the skills so that the groups are more manageable.

Actually I take the other view.... I'm glad to see some previously sparse groups getting fleshed out.... I am glad groups that once were small....mechanic, social, leadership.... have gotten some respect
