Edited by: Amortalis on 09/07/2007 15:41:07 Grrrr Argh! Mild mannered venting of spleen etc
Once upon a time Amorpheus wrote a Bio for himself. He thought he'd put it together quite well and when others could be bothered to read it, it often got a few laughs, well perhaps a chuckle or two, ok ok sometimes in a moment of weakenss the reader might have accidentally allowed themselves a wry smile.
Anyway, moving on....
As time passed and Amorpheus had adventures and did more stuff, he added little bits to his Bio so in the fullness of time it did a pretty good job in describing Amorpheus, his background and motivations. It also gave him something to remind him who he was after poddings.
Due to the recent 'Bio shortening', said bio was cruelly and mercilessly cut short in it's prime. Whilst it was not quite a work of creative genius, it was a creative work nonetheless and useful to the mildly eccentric Amorpheus
After a polite inquiry Amorpheus has been informed that "Old bio data is not cached on our servers"
CCP just assigned chunks of our texts to the ether I think I'm a little dissapointed really, Amorpheus is baffled and confused
CCP ate his Bio!

Welcome to Revelations 2.0 where nerfing your Bio is directly tied to the "Need for Speed" initiative.

To be fair, it was a fairly important reason... ------------ LAG - Hopefully teen-appropriate now. IBTL! IBDS/DC! IBTC! 1st in a BoB post! And other such forum tom-foolery. |

That is completely subject to opinion.

Ofcourse, but majority rules that less lag > fictional biography, although I do feel for those who lost their bio journual.

Agreed, however they could have simply not loaded the bios on jump-in and coded teh client to only load/request a Bio on demand when someone actually asks for it. That would have had the same effect as nerfing 100% of the bio in terms of reducing "jump in" lag.

What is done is done. Unless people are going to ask for a formal appologize debating is futile and won't bring lost piece of novel back.
Now I still have space to write what persons die in the newest Harry Potter book when it comes out, so everyone reading my bio won't escape knowing it even if they are still reading it

The bios were cut from 4000 characters to 1000 characters
Perhaps not transmitting the bio as part of the 'Character Information' form and having a tiny little unobtrusive button saying "View Bio" would have been a more elegant solution to this alleged exploit
