I trades ships once... found the market to fluctuate too much...
And a big trader shouldn't join a trade war, the real big lazy ones just put up many orders and wait on their lazy asses for one to come through (well, I do... I have 0 isk in my wallet, and all in buy orders and assets ^^. When I come home it is always a little surprise howmuch I can invest again. I once quit eve for a couple of months. Came back and had lots of money from all my 90 days clearing out over that time. Didn't care a bit if my prices were market aggressive or not.

You sound like one of my victoms.
The market may have just 'fluctuated' because somebody with greater market based PvP skills decided to force you out.
But then again..

Not really, I traded for 4 months and some ships didn't sell that much and the prices migrated over a few weeks/months, not suddenly. I even have ships lying around right now which have been on the market for 3 months and didn't sell for my prices. But so once in a while they still sell though, for my original too high prices ofc :)... And I also didn't build them, I bought them (very) cheap.
Mostly in Sinq Laison btw. I had one competitor, but he was doing the 0.01 thing, just like I did ^^ ----------------- Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It's not a thing to be waited for - it is a thing to be achieved. |

Tell me about it.
Harbingers are a pain to deal with. Some weeks... prices at 40% margin, next week less than 5%. (I have seen folks sell price at near mineral costs. I assume Harbingers are crappy ships and they are dumping them)
There just isn't the stability of demand to maintain a static or at best, stable pricing regime on some ships in some regions.
I presume that happens on low volume/low demand ships. Those are a 'throw a 1/2 dozen' ships at it market for me. The crazy lowballers screw it completely up don't they?

Harbingers... yeah crazy price fluctuations... but nice.
I made 10 mil a sell of them. Then prices dropped and I let the orders stand... 2 months later they started selling again... but I still have a few in stations lying around. Don't really bother with them :P
Question is, why are/were people selling them so low and just don't/didn't sell them on the market ^^ ----------------- Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It's not a thing to be waited for - it is a thing to be achieved. |

Don't own a single T2 BPO. Not one. Ever.
I make my coin the vanilla way.
As for my funds. Granted I may not have, nor make as much as others, but my income is steady and I reinvest. Week on week it has been positive for a long long time. I make anywhere form 500m-2 billion a week depending on how active I am and the compettive forces at play. And I manage this by employing the very tactics I spoke about in my original post.
If Shadarle is truely the market master I'd love to see him post about tactics or contribute information to asssit budding young traders with mastering the market.
I look forward to reading his posts/guides on the subject... in another thread.

Edited by: Shiodome on 19/07/2007 22:30:34 oh dear, wish i had more traders with the OP's ego in my area, would be a total turkey shoot.
for everyone else, if you DO find a trader that starts displaying flashes of ego in the market work them, they'll stick around to loose money soooo much longer than anyone else - but then we all know that don't we

Wow. A whole 7 months old. A mining security officer too boot. Such eve insights you must have to share with everyone here.
But I don't see you stepping up to share or discuss the market... rather you are attempting to get into perverbial 'measuring' contest with me instead. How droll. I have better things to do.
