If you want loads of kills and quick high profits get a gang of ships and camp a gate in a low-sec connector in empire.
LOL you will get more kills that you will easily be able to count and loads of loot from ppl who travel afk or just do not bother to scout cos its a single low hop sec on their journey.
Get a hauler alt or 2 cos you will find it hard to keep up with all the loot and make sure you fit your combat ship for tanking the guns. Then when you get a 200 man fleet comprised of deranged carebears from various noob and player corps howling in self righteous fury and going totaly mental at you its time to pack up shop cos your work there is done.
Id join a large alliance after doing this though ll cos i doubt you will be very popular and 0.0 will be about the safest place for you lol.

Don't you need a serious tank to withstand the gate guns? I've read that they do around 2,000 damage per second. |

Edited by: Atreides Horza on 11/07/2007 19:04:16 Congratulations on your career choice and your success.
An alternative to gate camping, which demands a somewhat expensive ship + skills + scouts/alts/assistants, is scanning down mission runners in low sec mission hubs.
Even with the most basic scanning skills and an imicus, any chump patient enough to read the exploration guide can scan down mission runners. It's doable with smaller ships, VERY profitable, and carries considerably less risk than gate camping.

The problem with camping gates is not tanking the sentries, which can be easily solved with a decent tank, a can of boosters and bookmarks.
The problem is hostile gangs dropping by for a free snack. You need to control your environment and be aware of what's coming in and out of the area you operate in, and most likely some support to take on hostiles in these days where the almighty blob is prevalent. Take it to the next level by actually knowing what you hit (passive cargo scanning ftw), or you'll end up risking a 50m ship for a hauler with 3 empty containers in it.
OFC you can do this alone. But doing it for a living on a daily basis attracts someone like me to come hold you down with a celestis or thorax while the sentries do their work - and that won't earn you the ISKies for those shiny ships.

If you did'nt like my empire single low sec idea try this its a more traditional sort of pirate gate camp and as you learn where they are in eve you can have ships set up and ready.
So if you get camped in by anti pirates or the league of extraordinarly mentaly deranged carebears you just move to another and start again over and over. Long term its a bit more boring and short term a lot less profitable than the single low sec in empire camp but its bread and butter if your gonna do this for real profit.
Get a system in low sec that is 2 jumps out of empire and with 2 gates to camp, drop scouts in the empire system and the first low sec and also the 2 through systems after the one you are camping.
This should let your gang know long before you get jumped just what is coming and let you avoid ganks. Also if you can find one that has a few low sec alliances or corps nearby it is a bit more profitable.
That way you will never lack for targets and get the fun of sitting in a station with 50 of em going mental in local at you and your buddies for killing em and not being up for a fair fight.

No m8 even a low skill player can tank guns and with a bunch of ppl they will switch targets so its easy. With my normal BS tank even the larger guns only hit me for about 60-100 per shot. And after a few shots they switch targets.
