I'm working on a sql database replacement for Excel for my market analysis (and will make it public for free if it ever works fully). Currently I can store goods and input their buy and sell values and mineral values (for items that have them) for analysis in profit breakdown for manufacturing and trade.
One of the things I would like to do is be able to break down what sales are for manufactured items and what purchases and sales are for trading but am having difficulty in tracking down a pattern for one vs the other. One option I've considered is the fact that all my manufacturing is done at one station and everything else is though out the region. This works for me right now but wouldn't work for people who manufacture and trade at the same station/system.
Can anyone suggest a method for this or am I limited to analyzing overall profit as opposed to specific analysis for trade or manufacturing?
Thanks

Off the top of my head you could designate that the decimals places on the prices determine which category the item falls into. |

if you are head of your own small Corp you could "mis"-use the Corp-Wallet Divisions for that. This will not become viable in corps who really use those wallets. :-)
Tagging the Prices only works for goods that have enough room left for that kind of stuff. It would maybe work on Megacyte, but not on Tritanium. Also if you use Price-Tagging the stuff that sell for more than you ask will not be accounted. (e.g. your Kestrels sell for 250,000.11, but someone clicks on the next higest marketorder and clicks "buy this". Then you will be paid the higher price, because you are the supplier which wants the least monney, but get paid more.)
You can tell your application not include certain stuff into your calculation, but if you buy/sell minerals for manufacturing AND for price speculation it will not work either. --

I like the idea of tagging by decimals but I have too many purchases at a different price that goes to me. I think I'll probably have to file this away for future thought and for now focus on overall profit analysis.
