if i want multiple characters online at the same time i have to create an corresponding number of accounts i dont really like the way this is done now...
why dont we have just one account for all the alts we want? instead of creating another account i would much rather be able to pay x money worth x accounts to get 3*x character slots, x skill-queues and x characters online at the same time
discuss...

Because the way the client is designed it doesn't allow you to log on with multiple charcters from the same account.
That would surely take a massive overhaul of the client to change the way you want it to work. Each of your characters would need to fire up in a seperate launcher from a base launcher.
This isn't something that can be easily changed and likely to never see it changed. I don't really see a problem with the way it works currently, |

sure there is some work to be done i dont expect something to be done soon(tm), but maybe in a year or two there will be some change
a eve-launcher would be nice, actually there should be something like that i read about a launcher in the sisi-threads, but never tried it out
included functionality of the repair.exe (with the commandline options as checkboxes) would also be a nice thing for the laucher |

I would think the apparent issue is that CCP doesn't charge for extra characters on the same account. On one account you're allowed to have 3 characters, but you can only play one character at a time, and only one character can be training at a time. So in order to have two fully unlocked characters, you need two accounts.
Now, the one thing I would like to see is a cheap duel character setup.
You pay 22 dollars a month instead of 15, but you can play two characters from one account at the same time. The only difference is, only one of these characters can be training. So while you'll have the option to play two for cheaper, there's also a down side.
This would still require a client change, but it would simply be a button on the character selection screen that says, run two characters. The players that are paying for this functionality will have another client window pop open to the character selection screen, but players that aren't paying for it, will be given an error message saying how they can aquire that use.
Now, when it comes to plexing this account. There are a few ways to do it.
1) You plex it and only have to pay the 7 dollars difference. 2) You plex it, still pay 15 dollars, but it allows full unlock of both characters to train at the same time. Also, if you double plex it, then you won't have to pay for that month, and both characters will be able to train at the same time.
Just a thought |

ok, no single account... but why not merge / link the resources from multiple accounts?
i.e. if i pay 3 accounts, i would like to be able to login all three chars from one account a shared pool of skillqueues would be nice, too^^ |

Or you could keep the client setup the same. If you want more than 1 account online at the same time, you use a launcher. Another cool thing could be how you have 3 chars on 1 account, you could pay extra each month to be able to train skills on each of those chars, but only bring one on line from that account at a time. So in essence, you have 6 total chars on 2 clients. 2 chars can be online via launcher, but because you pay an extra premium, you are training skills on 4 out of the 6 chars. I think that woulod be pretty damn spiffy.
What else would be pretty cool is if the launcher worked seperately from the client, and was fairly light. That would open opportunities for adding the training que to the launcher, without actually launching the game. This would help people who go out of town alot or work alot and dont always have acces to the resources to fully launch the game just to change a skill. |

Using two accounts at the same time is better than having only one. Not only can you do two things at the same time (or one thing better), but you also get 4 alts. My advise would be to figure out your idea alt, train it on a second account, and transfer it to the first account. Then do that again to fill that account with valuable characters. On the second account, I would train one character to an ideal, keep one a bit more flexible, and them keep main character to focus on. When not training that character while it still has low SP I would PvP like crazy in cheap ships. |

how would you controle mutiple ships in 1 window? ccp used to discourage using multiple accounts and they decided since eve didnt boom like they planned and all the players were multi boxing despite the dicouragement from ccp and ccp was making more money they opened it up and made multi boxing more user friendly. |

CCP has had the Power of Two deal on occasion since summer 2004. They don't "support" dual boxing, but they sure as cash promote it.
The tests and system recommendations are all designed around running one instance for one reason: officially supporting two or more creates liability. The captains quarters are an example of a feature that can run fine on a single box but was bad for dual and horrible for triple. Since they don't officially support multi-boxing, it isn't there problem.
It also prevents the question of how many accounts a person can have. I know plenty of people with two accounts, a few with three, and of a few who use four to seven. To support it they must limit it, and that is not in the interest of players or CCP. |

I read that too. While I can tell you all about how you can do just fine with one account (get Prod. Eff. V!), I cannot argue with the fact that an second account can get a younger player farther, faster. Older players run into problems with the limits on R&D, production, and even but/sell orders/contracts.
With luck, maybe some of the advantages of your original post will end up in the master account thing. |
