Hello. I tried to attack a NPC convoy somewhere in the Hek or Uttindar system a few days ago. Both systems are 0.5 security. I attacked the convoy and recieved no reprisals from CONCORD and got some trade goods from the two ships that I attacked. At the time I was some ways away form the station (I do not remember how far though.)
However, I have been trying to recreate my successful raid under a variety of conditions but to no avial. How did I attack a NPC trader convoy and not get killed by CONCORD that one time? I would like to do it again. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Edited by: Gojyu on 24/07/2007 01:21:36 There are two variables that you need to watch. 1) The faction that the convoy belongs to. This is determined by which station spawns the convoy 2) The faction the station they're headed to belongs to
When you attack, I believe the game checks for these two variables, if they match, you get concorded. There's a convoy guide floating around here somewhere, I'll see if I can find it

Edited by: Baka Lakadaka on 24/07/2007 02:28:37 The only way CONCORD gets involved is if you attack a CONCORD convoy (i.e. it was spawned at a CONCORD station).
Otherwise it's the spawning station that will attack you, not the station where the convoy is arriving (they don't care, they haven't bought the good yet....it's the originating station that owns the goods). The exceptions to this are: CONCORD spawns - they'll always respond (don't mess with the cops,or their stuff, man!) or if the spawning station and receiving station belong to the same NPC Corp (i.e. the goods DO belong to them).
You probably aren't being attacked by CONCORD, but by the sentry guns belonging to the local station (ie. the NPC corp that owns the goods).
btw - you always take a standing hit with the corp that owns the convoy.

Partially true, Baka.
If the convoy spawned at the station, i.e. they're flying away from it, the turrets will shoot at you if you're within 150k of any of them.
If the convoy is flying to the station, the turrets will shoot if you're within 75k of any of them.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

I just ganked a convoy on sisi and it went flawlessly. Lots of trade goods and pos parts.
I did it in a T2 fitted thorax to be safe, but thing is, you could easily defeat one in a decently fitted frigate, really easy. I'm not sure about a destroyer with sig size and all, but the cargo would be great.
A good ship would be your race's mining cruiser, that or bringa buddy in a hauler because if anybody is around they'll be quick to steal your goods!

I have read your guide that you linked to, Gojyu. It was a big help. While I have not yet mastered convoy attacks in practice, I think that in theory I understand it very well. I appreciate it! Thanks to everyone else for the help, too.
