what about allowing the player to purchase any pirate ship from the LP store? more diverse ships would be nice. say a blood raider apocolypse with one extra/mid or low with either a shield or armor buff. nothing to extreme but good enough to make you want to do pirate missions ruining your empire faction standings.

Greyscale, you seem like a stand-up guy from all the post I've read from you. What are your thoughts on the current faction ships? Most if not all of them are very unspectacular compared to even T1 variants (some battleships like the machariel and vindicator excepted).
Wouldn't it be cool to make faction ships at least equivalent to T2, or with unique bonuses that would actually make them viable for compat? You hardly ever see faction ships in PVP aside from some hilariously rich guys flying around in snaked-out machariels or officer-fit vindicators. There are so many cool faction cruisers and frigates that could really spice up PVP if they were given unique bonuses or just generally got hotted up. Variation is the spice of life, and it's always an adrenaline rush to see an uncommon ship in PVP, but as it is now there is very little incentive to use faction ships.
Also, where are the faction BC's ;)

You realize increasing their usefulness would raise their prices, and it would then be hilariously ultra-rich guys flying them around for PvP?

It would be nice to see different variations of faction ships from the 1 frigate/cruiser/battleship school.
For instance, faction industrials that fall between T1 and T2 or have altered abilities. Pirates smuggle a lot of guns, implants, drugs right? What about a Serpentis flavored Iteron with an an extra cargo hold immune to cargo scanning, there's already carriers etc with more then one bay, why not add a 3000m3 corp hanger immune to scanning that can hold one GSC?
How about an Angel Faction Mammoth with a smaller cargo bay, but a higher base speed, or a reduced penalty to speed while cloaked? Maybe a Blood raider industrial with extra highslots for tractor beams/salvagers that can quickly clean a battlefield of wrecks to collect loot and slaves? A Guristas Badger 2 with higher base shields or the ability to fit a bigger tank, maybe 2 turret slots to fit a pair of rocket launchers?
Besides industrials, how about a Caldari Navy Customs Heron with an increase to probe strenght and decrease to probe time so you can track down encounters and hidden belts faster. A Republic Fleet Scythe with an extra mining turret,ect...
Faction ships shouldn't just be about blowing up stuff better, they should be about doing all the jobs better than T1.
Even if designing brand new ships is too much, how about more none-combat modules. A 30% Serpentis expanded cargo, or a 4200m3 internal space Blood Raider GSC, an Angel Recon Probe Launcher or other similar items might be nice.

I think Bill Ni here is one the right track. Nearly all of those ideas sound great. I could see poeple seeking out and paying some good $$ for those items as they would be very useful in many differnt roles.

Feel free to zot this post as it's not at all on topic, but I can't believe how much Dev attention this thread has gotten, considering that there are many, many far more pressing issues on these forums which hold a far greater impact on gameplay than something like Pirate corp LP prizes...

Oversight - they've already mentioned Ammatar Navy XL crystals.
Also, why isn't there a Republic Fleet Carbonized Lead ammo?

Because for some odd reason it didn't exist when we were populating the store. Chronotis knocked some up in his spare time and it'll be added to the store in 2.2, along with the other missing type. (Uranium possibly? I forget. Either way, we fixed it.)

Oh, while we're talking about revamping the LP store....what about lessening the number of tags needed for modules by adding a modifier that dynamically lessens the cost the higher your standing with both the parent empire and the corporation?
...or would that be too complex?
It just seems silly to me that on highly-desirable modules such as the Republic Fleet Warp Disruptor that it works out that you need 300+ million in tags and isk/LP requirements alone when the Domination WD is out there and selling for half as much on contracts.

How about pirate drones? maybe not as much damage as T2 but deals 2-3 types? or Spider drones? Sentry drones that do various E-War? I'd like having drones that jammed but stay out of SB range
some of the non-combat stuff would be nice, but I'd be a bit sad if i got a faction asteroid scanner

Already coming. The drones in the drone regions will drop salvage towards making drones with racially-split damage.
The "modified" Hammerheads will deal 50/50 Kin/Therm, for example. Same amount of damage, just two different types.

Id love to see some love given to the Other areas of EVE. Pirates need Gear and loot that Pirate and some Non military love would be nice to. As it stands there are 4 factions there should be 6. The 4 main, Pirates and Civilians.
Pirates Ships should be a mix of stealth, speed and firepower. Give them modules that can say Jam Turrets for a few seconds, cargo ships like Bill Ni was saying, the ability to warp cloaked with a haulers would make 0.0 far more Profitable for a great many people. The proposed scan probes that can Detect cloaks should be Faction Only! and the Pirates should get the cheapest ones, (thou not the best) Longer range webs/scrambler, or 2-3 point scramblers, A tractor beam that can pull a enemy away from his palls.(Divide and Conquer) In short Pirate ships should all ways give the Edge to the Pirate for hit and run,
Civilians should get haulers and other classes of ships with greater cargo space and more armor, or things kinda like the pirates with no scanning, (but weaker and fewer than pirates) a Module that can Break a Web. Massive Secure containers. Frigates, Cruisers, Battleships, Battle Cruisers, that all have a more Civilian edge but still have Teeth. the Battle Cruisers, Cruisers could use Strip miners(1-2 per ship) with the ability to still fire some sort of a tank/Offence. (some of us would like to pvp when the Pirates show up to pvp with us and not need a fleet of friends around for protection.) A battleship that can form a link with another battleship kinda like the titans jump ability but with a Battleship on both sides. (Bc and under can only use.) In short Civilian ships should allways give the Edge to Escape/Defence.
Its silly that the Great military mighty of the universe are the only ones contracting ship designs out there should be some ships for factions Made by the corps themselves sort of a one off Design to showcase their Building style/Tech. (each should be wildy different With no regard to a role/counterpart on the other side)
Ok I hope some love is given to the rest of EVE some of us would like to Explore the rest of EVE not just the 4 main Sides.

Suggestion to what pirate factions (0,0) could offer:
anything to aid exploration: faction probes? longer flight time, better res faction probelaunchers scanning implants
faction dictor stuff: bubble launchers. lower fitting req if you dotn want to boost em to much bubbles with longer flight time. dictor implants? (bubble size) different types of bubbles
those are things taht makes life in 0,0 more rewarding and what 0,0 wants. and are pretty much useless to empire pilots anyway..

As for Ammatar, give them shieldtanking laserboats to make up for the ships some Amarr guys feel they have lost with Khanid Mk II. +5% per level to shield resistances, and some laser bonus. And for modules, I would like to see variation to the already existing ones, and not just in name. Same for Khanid. Like right now on SiSi, the Khanid BCU is an exact copy of the DG/CN one. I would like for it to be different. Like it having a higher damage bonus, but less RoF bonus, so you end up with higher damage per missile but less total dps.
The pirate factions should maybe get some deadspace loot into their offers. At high enough prices that finding a complex would still be worth tons, but low enough to make it a remotely viable source. Or better yet, give pirate LP stores deadspace versions of the items that don't have any yet, like guns, painters, SPRs etc. And of course they really need the +20% ammo.
Or.. how about faction rigs?
