When youGÇÿre out and about shooting other pilots in the face, the most important part of information in local (other than the smack talk) is the standings icon. So we added an option to see a compact member list. In the compact list, thereGÇÿs no portrait but instead the standings icon is at the beginning and itGÇÿs about one third of the height of the detailed list, so you can see way more pilots in the list. Since weGÇÿre sure you still want to look at the nice portraits of your friends in some of the chat channels, the setting is per channel. You can access it via right clicking on the tab.]
I'm a "local is an omniscient intel tool" hater and I'm not sure what to think about this change! New CCP stance on this issue? Hope not! |

On the whole some quite significant QOL improvements I feel. I think the chat change is my favourite, closely followed by overheat (though I'm almost certain I've it set to go on right clicking the module). It'll certainly be nice to get access to more of my screen without losing the vital information from chat.
Riffix wrote: Also, since your making changes that affect the local view, I'm just going to go out and say what I think many would really like that would be most helpful in local, counts of how many pilots of each standing type.
Even with the compact view, if you are in a fleet of 100 and you jump into a system with 175 reds you have to do some scrolling and tallying to figure out even whether you might want to run or fight. But this is precious time you might not have and it would be really helpful to know that immediately.
This or the sorting works for me, part of me feels it'd be nice to even be able to filter out the corp/alliance/blues if we choose to, that way we only see the ones we need to be concerned about, combine this with the numbers and we have nearly all the detail we need instantly on hand to assess the situation. If we're curious which corpies/allies/etc... are in system then we can disable the filter to see.

(I actually like the idea of you seeing yourself in a different color)
This made me thing if the best troll ever... Make every female character's text appear pink on their own screen. (But realistically, it probably wouldn't be hard to implement or make it configurable. If I want to look blue to myself, that should be just fine.) Personalised chat colours could be a nice little improvement... *As in each user gets to decide what colour their chat comments appear in, might even be worth extending to being able to set the colour differently in each channel.*
Jackie Fisher wrote:[quote=CCP Punkturis] Joking aside it would be nice if L5 skills were highligted in the skill sheet in a similar fashion to the currently training skill is (although obviously with a different colour).
Isn't there already the ability to highlight partially trained skills? If so there must already be code there for highlighting skills other than the one in training, so highlighting lvl 5's shouldn't require too much tweaking of the code. |

Wow this is some great stuff!!!
With the new chat windows option will there be a setting somewhere to allow us to setup our prefered default settings for new channels/chats?
Any chance we will see the search box added to the Science and Industry blueprint tabs sometime soon? It can be a chore when adding remote jobs and scrolling to find the needed blueprint.
Hats off to BFF!!!! |

Awesome changes. I realy like shift+click to overload modules, but compact chat member list is pure win.
Is there a possibility to add sort feature to chat lists? Now people are always sorted alphabetically, i would love to sort by standing. |

Does any DEV saw null sec player's screen? Players use local chat to see how many friends and foes in current system. IT IS NOT PRIMARY FUNCTION OF LOCAL CHAT. Local chat serves for local chatting, We all need new window were we can see statistics of local population. Does it impossible to make something like
____________________________ excellent\good standing: 16 bodies ____________________________ neutral standing: 5 bodies ____________________________ bad standing: 10 bodies ____________________________ your corporation\fleet\militia (optional)
And then you can do many good things with it like red blink of corner when bad standing jumping in and pink one when this guy jumping out, etc.
I will say it again. We need local chat to talk in current system. We don't need boosting it's secondary functions. This function must have it's own window.
And I hate this ugly window of local chat on my screen that takes 1/4 of screen's space but I have to do this because I don't have simple automatic calculator that will calculate number of foes. |

Very good changes indeed.
one question about the watchlist though. Could it be made possible to select a player's ship simply by clicking the character in the watchlist, the same way you can select a drone in space by clicking it in the Drones window?
Reason I would like this is for example when you are in a large fleet and have an assigned anchor in watchlist, it would be nice to easily be able to select that ship so you could see where it is in relation to yourself and the rest of the fleet (lets you know if you have broken out of the orbit for example).
With the current watchlist I have to lock the anchor in order to see where he is. |

Massive improvements!
I hope though that when I shift-click on a module that is already running, this only switches the overheat status and does NOT switch on the overheating while turning off the module at the end of the cycle. That would be pretty deadly *g* |

Good improvements but can't you/won't you add a symbol that indicates when someone is afk. There are other MMOs that if you haven't moved, panned your camera or written anything in chat, you're marked as being AFK. For a CEO, Director or FC, this would be invaluable. |

Is it possible to save some space on the UI for those of us who don't use local by removing the chat box and bar from local completely and just have it function as a watch list of sorts?
I don't chat in local. I've no desire to see what people are saying in local. I soley use local as a means of gathering intel about who's in the system with me. (which I think should be on a time lag, but whatever.)

Awesome stuff.
One thing that would make the condensed chat list even more awesome is ability to sort the chat window first on standings. (IE all your war targets, reds, neuts, blues, copies, ect.....)
Nothing worse than scanning a system with 120 pilots looking for WTS and having to scroll local to do so. Or from the carebear's perspective having to constantly scroll up and down to see if a WT jumpned in or logged on in system.
Make it so... |

Would it be possible to either separate tabs on my watch list into different windows, or add static objects like corp bookmarks to my UI/Overview?
My frustration is that its difficult to sort relevant information of my overview when lots of things are happening.
An example would be when fighting in fleets, often its necessary to sort by distance from you, when the amount of people on grid goes up, it makes it very difficult to sort necessary align points, which being sorted by distance are immediately dropped off my list towards the bottom.
I'd like the option of creating a separate Overview (Not a tab to switch between) or being able to prioritize certain types of objects on my UI/Overview which would remain at the top regardless of how I sorted the remainder of my overview.
EG . I see Planets, and Stargates and even corp bookmarks at the top of my Overview, arranged alphabetically regardless of which celestial I'm closest to, meanwhile ships which are on grid with me are sorted by distance and remain below my priority overview items.
I know that would be a tall order, but <3 if its even remotely possible. |
