simple q: the right y-axis (and corresponding light green bars), does it display the number of items on the market for a speciffic date or does it display the number of items traded on a speciffic date.
the followup question depends on the answer. -- Tempus fugit -- |

The green bars display the number of items sold on that day.

Edited by: Miraye Khoury on 29/07/2007 16:21:49 Is it total volume traded (satisfied sell and buy orders), or just filled sell orders ?

that would have been my followup question, is it just fulfilled buyorders or is it the sum of all items that successfully changed hands (the sum of items in all market deals, so to speak)?
is there an ingame possibility to determine the sum of all wanted and offered items? i know i could do it using spreadsheets. -- Tempus fugit -- |

It really seems pretty obvious to me that the green bars are total items sold, period. Doesn't matter if it is a buy or sell order.
This is obvious because there are many items on the market with 0 sell orders and many with 0 buy orders, but both will still have some items sold listed by the green bars. Thus if they both register individually then they obviously are both counted.
There is no current display of the # of items offered on the market, you'd have to export that item and use a spreadsheet or an app to do it for ya.
An app would be the best idea, something that auto-imports all data files that appear in the export folder. Thus you can just go through all your markets and it will auto-import them all as you go. Would save a lot of time. But I don't see how it would be all that useful to know really.

That's correct.
The Market graph must be frustrating to wannabe Traders because although it is IMO very elegant and well designed it is left to the viewer to go take Economics 101 and work out what everything on it means and how it relates to the Market screen.
The new economic APIs are generating a host of third party apps that I'm busy downloading and enjoying. No doubt winners will emerge, like EveMon and QuickFit. This is absolutely the right way to go, farming out the processing of the raw data to private enterprise.
