A Public Letter:
I don't mean to sound like a nag, but I was wondering if you had caught up with our market community and what your thoughts are on things like IPO's, our fledgling stock market, etc? I'm sure I'm not the only one with questions...so how about we all pitch in on this one.
The purpose of this thread is to eventually compile five questions to send to Dr.EyjoG (our own Alan Greenspan of sorts) for him to hopefully respond to.
I'll save my question own question for later in the thread, in the meantime...have at it!

I want to know about the NPC supply of manufactured goods. Do we really need NPC vendors and loot drops supplying tier 1 frigate weapons, and the like?

I would like to know what his initial impressions are on what changes could be made to make trading more of a specialized career path if someone so chooses to go in that direction.
Also, what else might be done to improve the market and contracts interface, especially in regards to quickbar folders/saved searches/highlighted market entries in regards to if you or your corp/alliance issued them/ability to modify multiple orders at once (increase all by 1 million isk, or to increase all by 1%, etc).

On your #1, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by specialized career path, outside of what it is already. Trading seems to be in line with everything else from a skill standpoint. Elaborate please?

Dr. EyjoG, will you be making suggestions on the user interface and the general workings of market orders and how CCP can better streamline the market?

This is more of an interview format. Hence the "questions" and not the "feature requests".

hummm shares&stack markets... don't even know where to begin to ask. i'd gladly sacrifice the current system for an entirely new one (well... one that contains more than "giving" shares and a few votes here and there)
but as far as economy goes, i'm interested in an asessment of production - especially the currently popular groups of ingredients inside a field (faction tags for LP stores, basically all invention ingredients, salvage groups, raw materials) and his opinion about some of them being a relatively fixed factor. - putting the gist back into logistics |

1) I'd love to see a kind of balance sheet for the whole of eve... How much comes in from item drops, insurance payouts, mission rewards, etc. How much goes out from destroyed items, insurance payments, NPC sell orders, etc.
2) I'd like to see volume of isk traded by region/system. We all know Forge/Jita would be at the top but I'd be interested to see by how much and how big the 0.0 markets are in comparison.
3) Market share figures for item/item group for the larger players/corps. I'm sure that many trades (50%+?) would be independants but there must be large portions of certain markets that are contolled by just a few sellers.
can't think of any more right now...

Ah, I seem to be out of the coherent timezone, local. In any case, it wasn't meant as a troutslap link, only a reminder.
Although, if we're shooting questions, I've got one for the future...
You've mentioned academic uses for EVE analysis. When/if a paper is published, could you help the EVE community get its hands on it?
(I'm sure there are some here lucky enough [and cursed] to be out of school and unable to leech off a university subscription, who would nevertheless be interested.)

Could you elaborate on this one?
This was directed to EVEÆs money supply. Knowing the actual amount of in-game ISK is an absolute number necessary to determine many economical factors and the size of the various markets. It also provides banks the basis to change interest rates.
About two months ago BSAC experienced a drop in sales and I always wondered if it was due to a drop in the money supply.

Edited by: LaVista Vista on 02/08/2007 15:11:48 A few questions:
1. How do you see the insurence system work? On some ships, the basevalue is higher than the actual market price. Sometimes i have seen typhoon at a such price, that if you put the 100% insurence cost on top, you wont have lost a single isk, but the modules. 2. How do you see rig's prices being? Its supposed to be viable to fit to every ship. But on cruisers its hardly worth it. 3. What do you think about the recent amount of new IPO's launched? 4. How do you think the current time vs. reward is, when it comes to mining or ratting? My figures shows that you make maybe 30mill per hour, ratting in 0.0. This doesnt seem alot to me. 5. How do you see the chances for a real-time stock market being possible in a large-scale way, like in real life? 6. Can we get a bit more secure investment opertunities? This is kinda a feature request in regards to the corporation 7. Shares on contracts, yes please! Handling shares manually can be tiresome.

Most of my questions relate to shares:
1. Are there any plans to allow corporations to issue multiple sets of shares with different functions without having to make dummy corporations for each share issue? e.g. non-voting shares (which didn't count on votes obviously), seperately identifiable bond issues etc. 2. Is there any plan to allow shares to be traded - so they can be used in direct player exchanges, in contracts and (ultimately) be bought/sold on the in-game market? 3. Is there any plan to make share transactions trackable - so if I see 500 shares in my wallet I can view the transaction log and see who sent me them?

Price undercutting is stupid. Enforce a + hour delay between when you actually change the price, till its manifests itself.

A really generic, and therefore extremely tough question:
As the EVE resident "head economy advisor", what aspects of EVE do you ACTUALLY have any decision-making INFLUENCE in, out of what you might see as either faulty or just in need of an improvement ?

I'm going to ask this forum's help in formulating this question. I know what I am going for, but am unsure if I have enough knowledge of Eve's market to ask it well. Also, this information may exist somewhere in a thread I have no idea how to find.
What is the basis of the Eve economy?
I know there are many factors of course, and many ways of generating ISK, but is there an underlying determining factor that is not arbitrary? Named, un-producible modules are entirely dependent on the player market's whims. With standard ships and modules, I can determine a mineral value, but that value is fluid since it is tied to mineral prices that are subject to change. I've heard it said that insurance payouts for Tech 1 ships are a limiting factor, as they are unaffected by player interaction, yet put a price on the mineral value of the ship.
So, does this question make sense to anyone? Is anyone able to help me frame it a little better?
Thanks in advance.

Pity I missed the deadline, but I second these. I'm also interested in known how the 0.0 economy(s) compare to empire. Presumably BoB et al have their own large internal economies: how much of this happens via ISK and markets, and how much is effectively a command economy ?
