With a battleship, if you get desynced, big deal, you lose a battleship.
With a carrier, if you get desynced, big deal, its just a carrier.
With a mothership or titan, if you get desynced, you lose 50-100 billion.
And so, most alliances don't even bother fielding them anymore because if you get a desync, you're dead, plain and simple, and you can't do anything about it.
I wish that CCP would reimburse these losses on both sides until its fixed, but I don't see reimbursement happening, and I don't see it being fixed either.
They promise it being fixed, but it isn't fixed. And most of all, desync is worst with larger ships because desync is primarily caused by being bumped out of warp while the client not recognizing it as such; and obviously a lot of bumping goes on with motherships.
At this point I think we have to accept that CCP is never going to fix this, and that we might as well retire supercapital ships for good.

Edited by: Seleene on 02/08/2007 00:20:35 To clarify, there were four MC moms on the gate at the height of the battle:
Sel - Nyx Jake - Hel Ant - Nyx Sedith - Aeon
A quick word on dictor bubbles and Moms - the bubble only stops a ship from initiating warp. It does not stop a ship that is IN warp. Basically, a super cap pilot just needs to wait for a 'hole' in the bubbles to either cyno out or get his warp engined fired up. Once the warp is initiated, the only way you can stop him is with bumping / wrecks / biomass. (CCP really needs to fix that nonsense where a frozen body can affect a ship that's several km long)
Sedith got his warp started, reported he was safe at Planet Six and was even on my MSN for a couple minutes saying, "DAMN, that was close."
Obviously both sides saw something completely different going on. Some people didn't get even lagged. Personally, when I warped out I stayed "in warp" at a POS and could move about normally even tho I was still "in warp" for nearly fifteen minutes.
I appreciate the effort some of the 'ememy' have made in telling things from your side. The MC isn't going to continue off of "what if" and "maybe". Motherships are meant to fight and die; they are tools of war and we were bound to lose one sooner or later. What's done is done and we'll just build Sedith another one. :)

We had our Nyx destroyed in almost the same way that Aeon died.
He had screen shots of the pos as he was being killed at the gate.
I have nothing but respect to MC and FIX for bringing it to that fight. We have been itching for a good fight for a while. Seems like it always ends up with chasing your own tail.

GOOD post.. EVE is what it is. With the forces vs you and 4 MS .. seems like you guys needed to back track and one got caught.Seems on par with or without sync.
I so though ackknowledge your point of bubble avoidance/warfare very on point and true.

Hate to state the bleeding obvious, but the screenie you posted showed the MS as being "battle fatigued" as in cap was low and in armour. It is also reported that Sedith began to engage the hostile forces at the gate. So he managed to warp *after* all the interdictors was placing bubbles around him.
I submit to you that he as well as many others desynced at the gate, but unlike you who got lucky with the desync, Sedith was in a "deadmom warping" anyway? As, IMO, there was sufficient warp disruptor bubbles being launched around Sed (and yourself) to have kept you all in place. You and the other Mom got lucky, Sedith was left to suffer the fate that you others should of shared?
Saying "But I got away" - "Desync!" certainly means nothing in this case, was a legit kill. Shame you managed to fluke it.

Bad luck MC, at least it went out built rather than in a cap ship array, and congrats to aAa/IAC on the kill, regardless of circumstance.
To the people smacking, thanks also to you, for once again reminding us that no matter how respected a group may be, the COAD kiddies will always be there ready to jump on any announcement and really shine for their respective corps/alliances.

you did well tho, good fight and yes, we have paid the price of killing much by heavy losses of our dictors, still hope ally will help with restoration

I've exprerienced that phenomenom as well. Were you warp, but are actually still at the gate. Not sure if thats what happened I missed it all, but if so GF and hope you get it back, its one thing to lose it in a fight, but its another to lose it to CCP.

the only problem with getting back is, CCP would have to return almost all the motherships kills up today also. If they didn 't made that, probably something far worse than goons Threadnaught would happen.
The best we can hope is that this typ of stuff don 't happen. I , on my part was thinking that desycn was really solved, sicen i had not a single desycn sicen the patch. But it seems there is still a sub-type of desync still present.

Sedith "surrounded" at Planet 6 after warping out.
Make of it what you will. This is what our pilot saw after he was able to initiate warp and tell us on the command channel that he was all clear.
Regardless, it was well played by our enemies, no doubt. I just wonder how many more RAMSANS or code updates it will take for all of us to see the same thing on our screens again.
Ok well I guess he did lose sync but so what, he couldn't have saved it even if he didn't lose sync. Thats different than losing a ship to lag, his client just lied and told him he was 24au away.
Now desync that ends with an entire fleet getting popped by a DDD, there is something that could have happened differently if the desync didn't occur, and CCP doesn't refund those either.
I'm sorry it happens but thats just part of the game now and they aren't fixing it apparently. Can't refund everything especially when you simply got caught in an ambush. But I'm sure it'll be refunded, the eve gods smile favorably upon bob.

Originally by: Seph Res well, to bring in clearness abouit the kill, there was no desync at all, we stayed up at 3 ms bubbled, but 2 include seleene got away, but not they initiated warp, cause only the fact they were llucky and the dictor bubbles were runnin out or placed on another ships that were called to bubble up in more priority, the aeon was doomed as it was warpin in to fight as soon we saw it on overview, mc support was totally chicken like acting and got decimated 1 by 1 in seconds, mothers were stranded helpless on gate then, as they took a last effort to safe the moms the inwarpin mc fix fleet was able to withstand aaa fire for about 20 seconds in order to warp or get busted (no one made it to warp out), unforntunately some bubbles dropped too far or misplaced and the other moms made it to hit warp before new bubble was online...
but to say is: mc u brought it on a 21 man support fleet with 3 moms, it was a very nice fight, u showed up as a nice opponent to fight with, more of it plz, even respect to fix who managed to bring some t1 cruisers in the field to fight with, i think we had all great fun and lookin forward to get more pew pew on the grounds of battle, thanks u for the fish..
and ur sedith made had absolutely no desync, as u were reporting it he was targeting me and sendin me some fighters into warp and killed me after 3 warp aways, my congrats to chase a hac while hitted by some bs
This may have been the stupidest thing I have ever read on these forums. And that's surprising, especially given that I read what I write.

When you are desynced, you cannot do anything to save yourself from your situation.
That is the problem with desync: if the client thinks you're at a POS and the server thinks you're at a gate, you cannot do anything to get away from that gate. Its not a matter of whether the ship would have survived or not; thats nothing more than a what-if.
What happened was the client thought the ship warped out, which means it was quite possible for the ship to have escaped. And the server thought the ship didn't warp out, which means it was quite possible for the ship to have not escaped. In fact, IAC mentioned another mothership literally disappeared out of the fight: that's exactly what happened here, except the other way around.
Its desync. Its BS. And it needs to be fixed if CCP wants alliance PvPers to keep playing their game.

Speaking of bullshi, why don't dictor bubbles cancel warp ? Makes tackling motherships/titans very nearly as stupid as before the patch.
Anyways, it won't get reimbursed anymore than the other dead motherships that all had the same problem. CCP have stated they won't reimburse supercapitals more than once and MC aren't about to get an exception to that rule.
Lots of fun fights today, expecting more of the same over next few days.

In my experience with desync, the server will still acknowledge your commands. You just won't see it on your client. So when you are desynced, the best thing to do is warp to a safespot and then relog asap. So when you log back on, you will be sitting safe, unless you were locked down which I think is what happened to Sedith.

I know it sucks dark shikari but it a common problem among client-server stuff. This client taking action before the server acknowledges that action leads me to believe that the eve client is no longer just a dummy terminal and is now attempting to predict the future. The server would either say that the ship can warp off or that it can't. Course im just guessing, could be a hundred different things.
But whatever it is if they don't fix it then eve will die.

Man the game seems worse than before with this stuff happening, before the server/system would just crash, now you just get stuck in limbo land trying to figure out wth is going on and before you know it you are in a pod in the middle of no where or sitting at a station with an eve mail saying your clone has been activated. I am sorry that it cost a MS this time, more to come if this issue is not fixed....wish CCP would fix this
