As I read it, the time server got the time wrong, and told the other server they were 5 minuttes behind, that started a chain effect of replications. Now the time issue started at 10.45 to be more precise, or atleast things started going south at 10.45 which collides with the 15 minutte warning, just a thougth.
And have you Identified the responsible hamster? I have a few proccedures I'd like to run it through. This suringe for instance. And pardon my spelling, my grama hamster died 10 minuttes ago. http://elune-ferret.spaces.live.com/

Anyone else having same issues? I had to petition trade transaction twice because connection dropped during trade and all items in trade window were gone and it also happened few times while flying in space.
I had it. but it might be your connection after all.

I'm OUTRAGED by this outage. I pay money for this game and the fact that I'm in work and can't play I should still be compensated....
Actually I'm hungover and considered pulling a sickie for a quiet day in front of the pc...... I would have lost time playing if I wasn't so honest and pottered into work regardless of feeling ****ty..... 50% vodka ftl

Wrangler any info on any reimbursments for lost game time? The server has been crashing nearly daily for quite some time now.. i think a week or at least 3 days of free game time would be the least CCP could do.
We used to get free days when CCP f###ed up but suddenly that was changed without any public statement... why should we have to pay for the times CCP is incapable of providing the promised service?
Even WOW or Hello Kitty Online reimburs their players when they're unable to provide a stable server for the players to login to... that IS what we are paying you for... not for "something happend"-threads in the forums. |

It's easy to find the weakest hamster.
Let them loose in a yard full of foxes.
The ones that make it 24 hrs can work on TQ. The ones that's still alive after 12 hrs can work on SiSi The rest.. well.. Thet won't work again.. ever.

What makes you think that this replication task has anything to do with downtime ? This is standard server behavior, happens all the time, they are semi self maintaining these days you know Try ctrl-alt-del and look at your cpu and processes, your pc does all kinds of things without you telling it to do anything.
Yeah they pulled the plug early so they could have a big orgy

Originally by: Zanpt By sliding into the downtime you have left a ton of pilots, ships, drones, wrecks and ore stranded in space, many of the drones no doubt in dangerous situations. Prepare for a flood of petitions.
I have to go to sleep. I'm probably not the only one in this situation. If I do, my drones and ore will be gone. The wreck loot and salvage will be lost anyway, since wrecks seem to disappear over dt.
This is poorly handled.
Do you think running something like EVE is simple? Things go wrong, like..your personal computer x 100000000. Give the guys a break, in the meantime we'll all shed a tear for your irreplaceable drones and ore.
I've personally worked on critical systems serving 2-3 times as many users with subsecond response. There are many critical systems larger than Eve-O. Credit and debit payment systems and banking systems dwarf Eve-O and rarely go down or make mistakes. I'm not a PC weenie. PCs are crap. I'm a mainframe and minicomputer guy with 40 years of real time communications programming under my belt.
This year-long experience with Eve-O has certainly taught me something, though: I'll never use or recommend MS SQL Server for anything.

Ehm, yes indeedy my PC does all kinds of weird things without me telling it to do it, but it doesn't crash and burn on a regular basis either, so I really fail to see the relevance of the comparison.

As much whining that is done and the 'grow up' 'get used to it' etc comments from the peanuts playing this game. You need to remember that ths is a service we are PAYING for. They are already down 1 hour every 24 for service and maintenance.
Question for you simpletons that think these sudden outages are ok. If you come to my store, pay for a stereo or TV and I give you one and it only works sometimes, you ok with that? Or you want what you are payng for?

do you call up a satalite tv company and demand free service everytime a cloud passes by?
and i am sure somewhere in the EULA(to lazy to look) says that they cannot guarentee service 100% of scheduled up time and by playing you agree to that and if you dont you are suposed to stop playing

MS SQL Server is widely recognised as an industry standard for uselessness. Pity Eve doesn't move to something more sensible, scalable and reliable like DB2, MySQL or Oracle. Nice game, shame it's so frequently and thoroughly pooched by the backend. And I know whereof I speak. The corp irl I work for has all four of the databases in one shape or another (for historical and mainly acquisitional reasons) which are tied together with various mainframe processes running Datastage, and if there's a problem, we know immediately where we are going to look for the issues. Clue: it isn't the three I suggested as alternatives.

Startup is delayed due to application errors, the database guys are working to get them fixed so we can startup Tranquility.

To what did the database fail over to? If there was a backup system, from the consequences to EVE, I might get the feeling that failed too (completely). You might change your terms for the future.
