I want to play Eve - but that seems to be hard to do these day. So what other MMO should I look into? I heard some of my former Eve co-players are happy with Lord of the Rings - is it good?
Kind regards, Amanda

You'll get tired of it real quick I believe. It has by no means the level of complexity that EVE offers and so on. Maybe Pirates of the Burning Seas might be an option in the long-run.

Check out www.mmorpg.com - lots of info on MMO's. Keep your Eve char training while you try other games, im almost certain you'll get very bored by them. :)

Sorry, if I do quit the game, my stuff will go to my corp.
I was kind of looking for something to do when Eve is down... which means a couple of hours every day or so, lately.

True there is a one off fee for each chapter (expansion) but you can pick up the first chapter now for around ú15 which is dirt cheap for an online game
ú15+unlimited playtime=Good value!! Er.....SIGNATURE |

I have not found a MMO that competes with Eve. Instead, I will point you towards a single player game, with a HUGE playerbase - It rivals eve's. They have a large group of modders and scripters - The game can be played many different times, each time being different than the next. As a matter of fact, If you want you can play in a totally fan created galaxy!
Oh yea, the game is X3: Reunion. Egosoft's website. Please, look into it :) It is a game well worth the money it costs.

I played this game before Eve and also had X:Gold before that.
All are *****ing games and very similar to Eve except single player.
I cannot recommend them enough.

I agree, X3 is pretty cool. I haven't played it yet except for about 30 minutes (too much time in EVE atm with everything going on) but I got to say it has plenty of depth and the graphics are great.
As far as other MMO's go, if science fiction is your thing which I am sure it is then there really isn't anything out atm for us sci-fi geeks
ps, if you have Steam installed (Half Life 2, Counter Strike etc) they sell the game through that for something like $20 US. It's a bargain.

I HIGHLY recommend World in Conflict (yes the game really looks like that on a good system). It is not an MMO and it is not even released just yet but it will be soon (beta just ended where I got to try it).
Multiplayer is an absolute blast and games take about 20 minutes or so to play so perfect for a diversion during DT in EVE. Gameplay is a blast. Chemical strikes, laser guided bombs, daisy cutters, carpet bopmbing...even tactical nukes. What's not to like?
If you ever liked RTS games this one is not to be missed.

LOTRO has been fun but mind you it's pretty much PVE or 'carebear' as the bloodthirsty mongoloids would say.
I've got a level 18 champion so far and I really enjoy him.
The map/terrain is simply incredible.
I generally play that when I feel like being laid back and I play this for the pvpness (although I'm a pansy in pvp here.)
Only thing I wish is that lotro had a pvp base system like dark age did. I used to love the bg's and just owning people on the battlefield.

30 minutes is hardly enough to get started :P You need to have played a good 1-2 DAYS(i mean here, 24-48 hours, RL time... gametime can run from anything to 2-5 days) before you A) get passed the learning curve(cliff), and B) have enough money to start having fun :)
There really is nothing that compairs to the pleasure of taking on 4-10 pirate m3 and support, and killing them all in your trusty buster.

Or building up and owning the largest narcotic production facilities in the game. Currently have 5 different complexes, using the XXL Station script. 3 XXL Energy Production Facilities (uses crap loads of crystals :( ), 5 XXL Bliss Farms, and 5 XXL Weed Facilitys. Each one has a massive turn over.
