I found out I have dozens of 1MN Afterburner 1s. I haven't bought any of them, they are all loot. Market says thousands of them are sold each day. Why? Who is buying them, when npcs give so many?

Also: people who do, but need the afterburner sharpish. And their own stash is too far away.

Low value, high-volume buy orders are usually the cause for the trades, rather than sell orders. As for who buys them... recyclers (the vast majority I guess), T2 AB manufacturers and probably some inventors too, to name but a few.

Traders buy them and either decide to hike up the price and sell them where there is demand or reprocess them for guaranteed isk via mins. Go to Motsu or any other bigtime mission hub and make billions off someones garbage. TBH, I cant believe how much people don't know about the reprocess button and how much isk they are missing out on by selling loot for next to nothing. 1 MN afterburner is a nice drop item there.
Your a mission runner right? Take a few days missioning & looting them, and then take inventory of whatcha got in your hanger there and put up some buy orders. Granted you may need some decent trade & refining skills but its a good way to make a few billion here and there eh?

if I can buy named armor hardeners by the dozen for less than mineral cost, crap common loot like 1mn AB is surely selling below cost.
most of them are probably going to the buy orders at <50% mineral cost.

If you build T2 1MN Afterburner you need the T1 AB as base material. And building the T1 yourself would waste a precious building slot. So it is best to buy them. They are very cheap anyway and it makes no sense to save a few isk by building them on your own while you waste that valuable building slot with this! Skills allows only very few concurrent building jobs.

I reprocees probably 95% of the rat loot I get the other 5% I keep in my hanger for the "ooh when my skills go up I might have to fit this", then it's promptly reprocessed when it does indeed turn out to be crap.
Is there anything rat's drop that is actually worth selling? At the moment I find Rat loot to be a good source for the otherwise elusive Megacyte, it's funding my production of Ice Harvestors quite nicely.

best named (unless it's some garbage module like shield power relay), and sometimes lesser named depending on what item it is and where you're trying to sell it.

Some tycoons actually go through the trouble of placing buy orders for rat loot in the regions they control , to reprocess it and sell the minerals. It *might* be worth it on the long run if you're piling up lot and lots of minerals (stacks worth moving around) otherwise it's clearly an awful waste of time. If I could move around highsec freely , I'd rather scam people in minutes instead
