Edited by: *****Monger on 11/08/2007 13:05:58 Ok so I upgraded my main PC to Vista Ultimate x64 Edition
Does Eve work...does it chuff.
Points to note:
1. Same machine as before so not hardware (was using XP x64 before with no issues) 2. Multiple machines running on the same network and running XP with Eve just fine. 3. Done the delete Machonet folder etc and still no joy.
I never even make it to the char screen. My client throws me out when getting the Machonet folder from the server.
Can I have a show of hands for those running Vista and Eve together with and without problems?
Cheers

Edited by: Marc Zhorr on 11/08/2007 13:20:29 Vista worked soso on my notebook, but starting EVE took long and framerates were not as I expected.
Installed w2k and now runs incredibly fast.
But installing w2k on a system with brandnew harware is tricky.
If you want to get better performance than vista, but with an easy install, then it is best to take XP.

Im running Vista x64 home premium, it works fine for me.
One problem you might run into when installing a few programs though, is user account control (UAC), its supposed to protect your machine from virus's and acts of stupidity, unfortunately its a complete pain as it can break installers simply because they try to install a file in a location it doesn't like etc... the first thing i did was switch it off, and it made life a whole lot easier.

Ultimate 32 and working just fine, just as good as under XP.
I do have a new problem since I built a new machine of the music continually restarting at the beginning of the next track every time I do something but I suspect that is my Realtek and nothing to do with Vista.

If you have any technical problems you are welcome to file a petition. Also if you are using the same hardware Vista does have bigger requirements and you can disable a lot of these functions, although it can be time consuming. |
