There is always so many people in jita that makes the server lag in many ways and if there was a time limit and population limit on jita that will decrease the lag itself on the Server...How many times people jump into Jita and finding themselves asking a GM to move them becuase they are stuck. the People in jita are the ones that stay there all day and night really not doing anything besides spamming the local channel with contracts and stupid stuff that they can just do all that in the Trade Channel. The most people I seen in Jita is about 1300+ players and that day the server was very laggie and you could hardly do anything but wait for like 30 mins to move. My idea is have like 300 people max in jita for only 15 mins max and that would decrease the lag by alot and making the game more smoother for other players. |

I believe CCP should embrace Jita and simply put it into the tutorial not to go there and they should remove autopilot from going through Jita. Autopilot through Jita means those people do not need to go there and probably wont stop there but are too lazy or ignorant to go around Jita manually.

dont go to jita
anyway the only way to solve 50% of lag is to disable autorefresh of market windows when you buy and sell... TADA!

Maybe i'm just fortunate but i have few problems with Jita, the lag is hardly noticable, and to be quite honest the only problem is undocking.. but this is easily voided by flying a k or so below the line before alligning to whereever the hell im going.

I do go to Jita on occasion. Once it was intolerable, but usually if you pick a "quiet" time it's merely annoyingly bad.
Go there on a Sunday afternoon and you'll get what one might expect.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

Out of curiosity, where do you want CCP to teleport the players to after the 15 min?
And, what do you do about the other 300+ people waiting to get in? Queue them? Give them coffee?
Certainly, Jita is a gathering hub....Seems to me that other solutions exist which will satisfy your concerns without curtailing normal player activity.
Enjoy!

Jita is a hub. Hubs are good.
After the last server upgrade Jita has been very good lag-wise. Even at peek hours.

Jita is a trade hub, meaning that many players congregate there to buy and sell all manner of goods. Generally, Jita is the cheapest place to buy most T2 and other high-end items, though you can find some items cheaper elsewhere.
I think it used to have a lot of good quality agents several patches back which gave the system it's initial popularity, but this does not seem to have decreased with the removal of the agents.

I actually have less lag in Jita when there is 500-600 people there compared to Saila with around 130+. Saila, Motsu and some of the neighbouring systems are a total mess.

Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 13/08/2007 11:44:39 The Jita 4-4 station should simply fire a Doomsday device every 5 minutes, with a public countdown to prevent people from docking/undocking into the blast. Would solve a large part of the Jita problem imho. I really doubt all the station huggers cause the lag, its the 50+ idiots outside that station bumping each other to hell and back...

Thats probably because most of the people in Jita are simply existing there, using market and chat.
In Saila, you have 130 people missioning, and that means a crapload of more stuff for the server to handle.
I vote they remove the jumpgates to and from Jita for a month, force people to use the alternatives to being all in one place.

Jita will always be what it is, and if not Jita, another hub will spring up - stupid artificial limits like this won't help matters.
Anyway, it's a useful test bed for new hardware/code, if CCP can stay one step ahead in Jita, they've half a chance of making fleet battles work elsewhere.
Only thing I'd suggest is multiple undocking ports on stations - that 4-4 station does become quite insane...

Thats a very good idea ironman 04... except if CCP do that they go to another system and spam that system instead... time limit would suck... but if they could have some way of control of the system so this things dont happen. like try to focrce them out. e.g in jita they make the broker fee higher then somewhere else. and everybody have to go elsewhere. and everytime too many ppl gather and make a hell in system they do something temporary with that system so ppl dont gather to much in 1 system.
NOW THAT IS A GOOD IDEA!!! hehe...

I don't see why there are in-game reasons why there is a cap on people in Jita. I mean every jumpgate is manned (according to the chronicles?) or at the very least even if it isn't, the computers could deny access into Jita o.o Dead easy thing to do.
And it's easy to justify as well - the local chat channel is run via the jumpgates, which is why new people show up when the jump in - the jumpgates notify the whole place. So the chat and traffic control on the in-game servers would be high
(Of course this means that we can get rid of a cap on Jita by getting rid of local - which would probably also decrease the lag) ----------------------------- "Oh, we're sorry, you had the 'NakedAmarrChicks' bit flagged in your account somehow." "Wait, why was there even a flag for that to begin with?" "..." |

Edited by: Sharupak on 13/08/2007 13:57:55 I was in there the first time the other day to pickup a mwd and there was 790 some odd people in local. There was some lag, but not terrible. I docked at the 4-4 caldary navy plant. There was a buttload of people there. I am not sure if that was the most populated area, but it took an extra couple of seconds to undock and dock but thats about it. _______________________________________________ RuntimeError: ChainEvent is blocking by design, but you're block trapped. I've been playing two months. I've been in and through Jita numerous times. This is mainly due to Jita seeming to be a place you have to go through to get most places... or so F10 tells me so.
On the weekends during peaktimes the lag is ridiculas... other than that I have no issues.
