I was curious - out of the people posting char's with high SP's and skills trained, how many have an alt on that main account that has a few mill sp's of its own?
I had to train up an alt that way myself - couldn't afford a second account- so although my main has 58M SP and 280 odd skills, I also have an alt on this account with 3 mill sp's and hulk mining ability.
Have others gone down this route or simply paid CCP the money for another account?

Probably not too many, they get another account so they can dual play rather than having to play either character.
Help me help you. |

i did for about a week and a half, for a research alt. not too much time invested (would have taken longer for my main to get the same level of skills).

/me puts hand up
umm I originally had a different main, though I re-rolled within a few days of starting because he was gimped, I then trained a science alt, as I needed one for copying BP's permanently.
When T2 research came in I trained that alt for RPM4 [as it was quicker than doing RPM 5 on my main] - getting the standings was hard - as he had very bad weapons | ship skills [and still does] - however it wasn't wasted - he has 2.4Mil SP - 1.9Mil in Science - Now I do need more build slots and he would help - but it would mean less SP on my main...

I have a pirate friend that has a mission running alt with like 2m sp that he uses to get funds when he is low on them

Preface: I am anti-alt, think it is bad for the game.
That being said, I think the only time it would be worth it would be for research alts who can get you additional RP's.
Otherwise why train up, for example, a mining alt when you can just train up your main for it and probably have better support skills (navigation, spaceship command, etc.).

I trained as a miner first.. got that up to Retreiver lvl and just sat around mining while my combat alt got skilled up in learning and guns and all the other non-miner type skills.
It helps to set a goal for your secondary alt so you dont get bogged down in other skills. -------------- Active Miner improvement Threads = 5 Active Miner improvement Threads with Dev Response = 0

Lots of people drop, I think 10 days to train a cynoalt as they are pretty useful.

QFT! Mine just finished this morning so I can continue training my "main char" on THAT account.

cyno alt (although on the same account so you cant cyno yourself), market alt, research alt,
thinking these would be the best uses of a few days lost time.

I got myself a merchant alt, given the starting point skills it's worth it, training that on my main will be a huge waste of sp.
in general I think it depends, for example in my case getting the trade skills on my main (who has 0 in everything) was most costly then just training up remote sell and some industrial.
