OK,
so i am just wondering which minmatar ship would be better for small gank squads and/or solo pvp?
Each has it pros and cons of course. but i am wanting to know from people that have already tested and decided hat is good/bad for what situations.
I plan on training both, but i am trying to figure out which would be best to train first.
All posts made reflect my opinion and not that of my corp/alliance. |

Edited by: Gawain Hill on 15/08/2007 18:23:38 assault fighter first then interceptor
simply because if you train for interceptor on the way you already get the skills you need for assault fighter
edit: if you want to tackle and not get shot at use an intie or you want to hurt people use an af

AF's generally last a few seconds longer. But like already said; if you want to just tackle and make sure you get on the killmail, use the interceptor. But if you want to make a difference in the outcome of the battle, fly an AF. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Agreed.
@ OP:
Interceptor. I recommend a railgun taranis, a beam crusader, or a crow, in that order. However, if you really want a cruiser-esque tank in a frigate-sized package, by all means fly an AF.
Interceptors have more uses, AFs are more like fast cruisers with weaker damage, if you use a MWD.
Generally, a well-setup cruiser will make mince-meat out of a well-setup AF.

He asked specifically for Minmatar ships, so meh ;P
Anyway, minmatar inties are too ugly to be flown. I've bought both the claw and the stilleto, fitted them, flown them a bit around station, and then repackaged & sold them, because they were just too ugly to look at
However, minmatar AFs are great, very decent in a gang and also quite alright for soloing as well, although you should know your limits (attacking PvP-fitted cruisers and up is suicide 95% of the time, unless it's something like a stabber with T1 guns).
Cruisers are a better addition to a gang most of the time, anyway, due to having a bit bigger buffer / tank and doing a significantly higher amount of damage in any realistic setup.

Get a wolf, it's a sweet-ass looking ships and pvps even better. --

Well, in a gang, yes. Solo, however, the lack of a web and the general slowness of the Wolf makes me very uncomfortable, in combination.
I prefer taking the Jag, which is very decent solo even if it's got less raw firepower, and can also be fitted in very interesting ways as well.

both has his own uses and sharing the fun factor, jaguar and claw both are potent and powerfull for its size, try some with jag then step to claw, fly both and pick wich suits situation well.

Edited by: Jonny Magellan on 16/08/2007 10:18:27 To be honest I am very disappointed with Assault frigates. They have quite more mass than frigs meaning they will get a lot less from a MWD or a AB. They also align much slower. They are kinda like a destroyer with a better tank..
They need a mass reduction to frig numbers or theres no point to fly them over a Stabber for example.

Well i know most everyone seems to hate their assault frig's, but i still enjoy my enyo's and harpy's. Their cheap ships that have low sp requirement that allow me to go into dangerous areas of space and do it effectively for a very low cost. Its easy to spend alot more isk on the inty's, and inty's can be quite skill intensive.
So as far as which one to get first, id get the af.
