For PVP, the Vindi wins hands down. The extra mid gives you a lot more versatility because EWAR modules reside in midslots. It also gives you the opportunity to counter enemy ewar by fitting ECCMs, Sensor boosters, etc. without sacrificing any of the four critical modules (MWD, booster, web, scram). Also, let's not forget the incredibly MWD bonus that the Vindicator has. While the Navy mega would be hit by -25% cap by equipping a MWD, a Vindicator with max skills actually gains cap from fitting a MWD. Not a bonus to be overlooked.
For PvE,I have no idea since I couldn't care less. However, the Vindi's MWD bonus wouldn't be very useful in PvE since everything takes place in deadspaces anyway, so I suppose it comes down to whether you prefer the extra mid or the extra low.

Also Vindicator handles a LOT better than a Navy Megathron does (It has less mass).

Gank = Navy Thron Tank = Vindicator
You should have Gal BS 5 if you plan on flying the Navy Thron. If you have BS 4 only, take the Vindi. _______________

Edited by: Xoduse on 17/08/2007 18:45:37 Navy Mega is amazing with multiple plate setup and LG or even HG Slaves.
It's got the extra low for all that extra yummy armor. Handles like a brick, but thats b/c its a brick wall...

Actually the Navy mega can do both more damage and tank better. Because a mid slot doesn't boost a tank/damage. A low slot does.

If you're interested in flying a pure blaster ship, use the Navy Mega.
Advantages of the Vindicator:
Slightly better cap (not really an issue with a T2 heavy cap injector or faction injector), 5th mid slot for more flexibility (I'd use a sensor booster here for faster lock time for smaller ships, or ECCM), better agility (this is rather unique, and it's more agile than the Mega, Navy Mega, or Hyperion, but once you put some armor rigs on it, it loses a lot of it's dexterity).
Advantages of the Navy Mega:
The one extra low gives it that perfect ability to fit one rep, one plate, 3x tanking mods (2x eanm and DC) and 3x magstabs.
Don't bother running two reps and a full rack of blasters on either ship. It's just not sustainable with a single heavy injector, and only barely so with TWO heavy injectors.
You need to run either ship with High Grade Slaves. These things have lots of armor, and the Navy Mega even more so. Exploit this as much as possible with HG Slaves and two trimark rigs. Grid rig in the last low to allow the fitting of a large rep.
If you're not going to commit to running faction everything, you're not going to have enough CPU to fit all the mods you need. If you're running a CPU implant, then that's another 5% DPS you're losing, and that's an **unstacked** bonus. That's a lot of DPS to give up for a CPU boost when you need every last little scrap of DPS you can get.
I can get just as much utility out of the Hyperion as I can out of the Vindicator, with a little less tracking, and I don't have to fit *any* faction mods to use it.
These days a Hype is even cheaper to use than a Neutron Megathron, as the Neutron Mega needs faction just to get it to all fit.
