ok, before going to the ideas forum or "trying" to get this as a csm question i am going to bring this up here so people can give it some thought.
i was at crielere tonight defending the station and the pioneer research work done there by the bravest pair of scientists i have seen. they were willing to sacrifice their lives to benefit the world with their efforts.
after having successfully defended the station against wave upon wave of gurista pirates my camera drones began to show strains of the attempts of the scientists to communicate to the pilots around the station. Before my camera drones got locked down i witnessed a strong force of atuk corp pilots enter the scene and start to shoot upon defending pilots.
Now, this system is rated as a 0.3 system which means it is not policed by any official government or faction police ships and that fact made the job easy for the atuk corp pilots to gun down ship after ship.
why were they able to do this? several "features" made this possible. 1. the fact that this is a 0.3 system and no offical police presend (yeah yeah...) 2. the fact that no single pilot targeted by atuk could actually have a hope of defending against their attack and no pilot could actually come to his defence without being an aggressor. 3. sentry guns had been damaged by the gurista onslaught...no help there.
i for one did not want to become an aggressor by assisting in the defence against atuk for several reasons (no need mentioning them), the main reason was my concord security status...which although not that high is valuable to me...so i continuted firing at the guristas still attacking the station.
soon after my camera drones suffered from a malfunction due to the scrambled radio transmitions coming form the crielere labs.
this left me wondering why when a pilot loses a security status in a system not governed by official police other pilots willing to share the responsibility against crime are frowned upon.
i suggest a motion to CONCORD that any aggression towards a pilot who has recently lost security status will be "legal". effectivly granting pilots in unsecure space the opportunity to respond to pirate attacks.

I agree wholeheartedly. There needs to be an "immediate" major loss that will allow players to intervene in cases of recent piracy.
It is inconceivable to me that even in high security space, that pilots would be punished for coming to the aid of another.
If I see a gunman on the road, shooting at another person's car, and I pull over and shoot him, I won't go to jail. But in EVE, I will. Bizarre.
I think some sort of trigger, even a short one (5-10 minutes max, same as how if you shoot a convoy, any factioned ships and turrets from that faction will shoot you) is long overdue.
This will allow people who want to roleplay as "Caldari Freedom Fighters" to have some real risk from Gallente loyalists. :)
And so on...
Good idea. Hope they do this.

Dunno...I didn't see the thread starter there.
Just a bunch of alt vulture twips in frigates either circling the bships while someone else was the target or waiting to race in from the stations to grab any loot that dropped.
Editted PS
Ah, you mean about the 'pirates' saying the exact same thing, that the jacked sec system was protecting the loot thieves?

as i said, the sentry guns had been damaged by the gurista onslaught...meaning that they were there to do damage...
at about 21:00 however they had sustained so much damage they became useless [ooc](ccp removed them)[/ooc] ...new sig coming up Ravenal - Fate is what you make of it. |

oh..and another "problem"...splash damage to ships you dont have targeted or havent targeted in the last few minutes...(apart from doing damage with smartbombs and possibly mines)
why on pator do you suffer a security hit for doing splash damage like that :/ ...new sig coming up Ravenal - Fate is what you make of it. |

and a person passing by seeing you doing this will pull his gun...
funny, how without intention you pointedv to the real problem:
we need a clever security system. (this will take ages, the current one is a big pile of..)
running a combat event in a system with working sentry guns btw, is among the most stupid things i ve ever heard of!
