Edited by: Ravvzor on 18/08/2007 13:36:07 Is dmg-problem usual for Armageddon users?
~3mio SP pilot - using Armageddon but with a heavy dmg problem and I can't see why. I'm fighting against Serpentis frigs/cr/bs. The frigs/cr isn't a problem at all cause I also use drones but I only do between 50-60dmg/gun up to 130dmg/gun with my lasers. Isn't that way too little? My large energy turret skill is lvl 4 and a got a avg. rank 4 on all gunneryskills. Using multif, uv and sansha radio crystals for diff. type of range. My fittings is as follows:
[High-Slots] Mega Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I Mega Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I Mega Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I Mega Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I Mega Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I Mega Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Salvager I
[Med-Slots] Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
[Low-Solts] Large 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Damage Control II Beta Reactor Control: Capacitor Power Relay I Voltaic Nanite Kinetic Hardener I Voltaic Nanite Kinetic Hardener I Armor Thermic Hardener I
[Rig-slots] Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I Ancillary Current Router I
Can you see any flaws that direcly will impact on my dmg? Cause I would really like to kill those 1.7BS a bit faster.
Thanks to replyes! :-)

The problem is the Serpentis resists. They're pretty much immune to EM damage so only the thermal dmg is going through. Use short range crystals with more thermal dmg to up your dps. Oh, and get rid of the salvager and stick another gun in there. Use a seperate ship to salvage once you've cleared a row of belts.
Alternatively, train for another races ship for ratting, the Myrmidon is good since most of its damage is from drones, and just fit tractor beams / salvage mods in the highs so you can salvage and kill in one ship.
Also, get Amarr BS4 - the ship bonus should help your damage by a fair bit too.

Considering the fact that Serpentis have, on average, decently high EM resistances and so-so Thermal resistances... I think thats the fact you're not doing much damage per shot.
Try getting some faction Multifreq lenses, and orbiting right around your optimal there. A tracking computer would also help if you're having tracking issues; that could result in a DPS drop when ratting.
My only last point is that the Geddon isn't a power hitter. Its advantage is that it can fire quickly.
And for the record, you shouldn't use any Amarr ship [with lasers] until your piloting skill for that kind of ship is at level IV. Period. Whats yours?

The fact that you fly a BS with less than 5 million sp is your problem...

I thought 2.5-3 mil sp was just barely cutting it for a bc.... and semi-bad for a cruiser...

Get ~4 mill SP in gunnery, ~1 mill in mechanics, ~1 mill in engineering, and you'll notice something awesome... __________________________ It's great beeing Amarr, ain't it?

Ignore all the snobs flaunting their SP counts and trying to judge yours. If it went by their standards, people wouldn't dare to start level 2 missions without at least tech 2 guns, missiles and drones to their name.
The problem lies indeed with your choice of targets; Serpentis are not very nice to Amarr ships.
I would recommend going after Blood Raiders instead, if that's an option for you. That should up your DPs by anywhere between 50% and 100%, and increase your killing speed accordingly.

It's the target you're shooting at which is giving you a problem. Serpentis battleships have around 64 EM resist on average and 55 therm resist on average. So you're cutting your EM damage by like 60% and your therm damage by 55% looking at the Eveinfo site.
If your only option is to engage Serpentis rats with Amarr ships then you will need to toss in some kinetic drones to help out.
Now if you are able to shoot at Sansha/Blood Raider...definitely go for it =P ---

1st problem: your 3 mil SP 2nd problem: shooting stuff whit quite high resists against your dmg.
try sansha or blood raider as enemy (amarr missions) :)
you will notice quite a big diffrence --------------------------------------- Sig killed by MODs.... reworking it Great being Gallente... aint it ? ----------------- YARRRR, sig hijack! -HornFrog ----------------- |

Edited by: Ravvzor on 18/08/2007 17:15:03 Thanks for all the advice, I kinda knew some "i'm best"-guys would complain about the SP but as I say, the ratting goes OK, was just wondering about the low dmg and I really appriciate most of the answers I've got.
Thank you all!
Edit: My BS skills is lvl 1 so ofc I got much to improve. :-)
