Well im new to minmatar and Im just flyign about in 0.0 with my corp. Got caught by a small gang, 2 inties, sabre and another stabber. Got away from them a couple of times, but they got me pinned down. I had attacked both interceptors, I had 180mm's on with motion prediction 4, and I hardly hit them at all?
Setup: 4 dual 180mm 'prototype cannons' 2 heavy launchers
mwd, 24km scram, lse overdrive, nano, gryo
The ceptors came in an out of range, from 2-20km alot, one was hovering about 7km and I was hardly touching them. Bit pathetic realy seeing as I see on the forums ppl saying dual 180's eat up ceptors. Do I absolutely need t2 to hit them?

No and it's not supposed to hit ceptors orbiting you within 1 km without the mwd up or on 7-10km with mwd up. You simply won't be able to track them even with motion prediction 5. t2 guns only needed to use barrage to get better falloff and additional dps bonus from the spec.
If you want a ceptor killer I'd suggest a sabre with 150 AC's instead (flycatcher should work too).

ceptor gangs usually are dumb enuff to attack vagas by mwding towards em in order to get in web range. i was in a pvp situation where 4 vagabond pilots from the nxt level corp raided feythabolis. i was in a ceptor gang and we lost some guys doing this mistake. i also approched them my course wasnt directly towards em but in a relativeley sharp angle. they all target me at once and started the machinegun rattling. i instantly hit armor to 50% and made myself scarce (thank the eve gods for 200mm rolled tungsten plates).
vagabond pilots cant take on interceptor gangs on their own without a web. mwding orbiting ceptors are not trackable. but u can use the pilots dumbness for u if u see em mwding blindley into ur ammo hailing guns. also vaga pilots can just give a "keep at distance" command while mwding away from the target and theyll most likeley end up being chased by an mwdburning ceptor at a 15-20km distance in a direct angle towards em giving the vaga a 0-20m/s transversal velocity towards its target with a sigradius of around 180 metres. in this case one or two quick autocannon bursts and the ceptor is scrapmetal.
speed and maneuvering is the key for this kind of engagements but theres always a big risk involved that the interceptor pilot is faster than u, gets u webbed or just knows how to avoid small transversal speeds in order to give the vaga a hard time hitting.
