Even though i have my issues with Siren i have to agree with her/him here, you should pay up Curzon. Were you frapsing the duel? A picture of your drone problem would definitely help your argument.

This is not a flame as I'm not that type of person.
The circumstances appear to be:
You saw early on that you had an issue with your drone menu.
You made the decision to continue the fight understanding the risks and accepting the liability.
The risk became to great.
You warped out and left the fight.
Implicit with making the decision to continue the fight knowing you were handicaped is the acceptance of the greater risk of loseing the fight.
You made a calculated decision to continue.
You should accept the results of your decision and do the right thing.
Make things right and pay.

It really does not matter wether ccp declare this a bug , or that you forgot your drones .
YOU decided to fight , instead of solving the problem , then when it became apparent you werent going to win , you ran off . your mistake period.
I dont know you , I dont know your championship or whatever it is , but to me you are the boy who owns the ball that if people want to play with must accept that the payment for playing is that you may at any time change the rules so that you win.
If this 1 v 1 is part of your `championship` maybe you should change its name ? as champions do not win by this method .

Seems you like to keep double standards for people you don't fight with and for yourself and people you do fight with.... quite odd and a bit low don't you think?
Also a dronebaybugdisplay is usually resolved when closing and opening your overview afaik...you could ofcourse reloged beforehand or whatever to see if it would go away...going up against a ship which you KNOW will have drones and saying you always use drones to kill other people's drones while KNOWING you have a problem, and still do it, is stupid and your own mistake for gimping yourself...
you agreed to the 1vs1 knowing you where gimped...should have called it off then and not when you are about to say buhbye to ship...
you like to boast about your tournament being fair and all that but you just make up the rules (or excuses) while you're going at it..in this instance at least.
Before fight:
"Ohh i don't have drones..ahh no worries i'll kick his ass anyways."
2mins later:
"whoops looks like i won't, better warp away and say it was lame to attack me when i didn't have drones and say the duel was void by him instead of me."
is not a good way to do the tournament you advertise as fair and honest.
You accepted, simple as that, put your money where your mouth is ( seeing it's all over the place usually  )
Don't become like the pirates you so much dislike for dishonouring their word on a ransom or 1vs1, because you're doing it yourself right now.

Ok, Curzon. Let's see if I have this right...
After you discovered you had a display bug, you made a decision that went something like this: "If I win, I get to keep his wager. If I lose, I don't have to pay up, because I can just say I lost because of the bug!"
This is pretty obviously a scam. You attempted to put him in a no-win situation. By your own words, you never intended to pay him the money the moment you engaged after you realized you had a problem.

The battleship championship is for battleships to duke it out. This was an individual request, outside the championships, requesting specific things and ships, without referees. I'm willing to entertain such requests, and evaluate them individually.
But the Battleship Championship is just that - the Battleship Championship; not the PvP Championship.

If you choose to continue, you have to fight till the end. I don't think you would tell same things if he just warped away like you did and claims his screen is bugged.
Btw I know the bug you are trying to tell. But in that bug, If drone screen screws up, it screws up after you undock, not in space. Means you are trying to find excuses for your lose and you warped away to save your officer loot forgetting that it was you who put the rule "not to warp". Gratz for other guy not accepting any ransoms and continue fighting...

Curzon, I've always enjoyed reading your posts, so I don't think of myself as a hater. However, here is the problem as I see it:
After deciding to continue fighting, if you had won the fight, you would have collected the isk and moved on. However, according to your logic, if you lost the fight, it would be because of your drone display bug and you would have warped off and called it a draw.
While I honestly believe you did not try to scam Siren, you must surely realize that, by your logic, this was a fight you could not lose. That hardly seems like a fight. While it is unfortunately that you were bugged, and it seems quite likely that you would have won the fight if you were not, you were. Furthermore, you chose to continue the fight--and it is NOT honorable to continue the fight ONLY in the case that you are the winner.
It's not a huge sum of isk for you Curzon, and I hope that you'll think this over and pay the man.

The way I see it Dax should NOT pay Siren..and this is my reasoning:
1. Yes Dax went into the fight knowing that he had no drones
2. According to Dax he told you Siren
3. Dax was hoping to pay you...
4. You post half-truths and slash his name to pieces
If I was Dax I MAY have payed you based on the fact that I took a stupid risk (sorry Dax but it was a STUPID risk...) but the fact that you come on the forums and start posting small parts of the conversation that will best express what you want instead of the entire story would **** me off and make me not pay you.
Oh and BTW for all of you saying that his Championship is a scam....for one it is the BATTLESHIP CHAMPIONSHIP...not the BATTLECRUISER vs BATTLESHIP CHAMPIONSHIP, and second...he gave Siren's ISK back...he could have just kept it...so STFU

Honestly, this is my last post in this thread.
After the fight last night, I told Siren that I was going to compile screenshots, tell the story to the public, and let them decide on what to do. If the communal decision was that I owed Siren money, I would have paid up. I sent Siren his 500 million back, then Eve went down, and I got a 404 on the forums. I went to bed.
Siren's past experience with me, involving large sums of money should have told him to leave it alone until I had time to deal with it. And I'm prompt on these kind of things.
He chose to approach it in this fashion. Honestly, I wish I had kept his 500m too, as payment for the crap in this thread. The last (and only) time that there was a problem in my tournament, I did the same thing. I created a thread, laid out the story, my opponent weighed in (pretty much agreeing with the story) and we let the community decide on the best thing to do. I intended to do the same. I have no issue telling a story from a neutral point of view.
Like I said, Siren pre-empted me by telling the story that he did, scripted like it was, through his various posts in this thread. I woke up and got into it three pages in. Paying him 1.25 billion ISK at this point is a wasted effort. It would be rewarding him for slandering me. He knew that I was good for it; we've dealt such stakes in poker. Its unfortunate that he took the route he did, but he chose his path. Until he wrote this thread, this could have been amicably resolved.
*shrugs* In his shoes, I would not have chosen to proceed this way, but he did - and I presume he knew what the consequences would be. The chances of me paying the man went from (well, given the communal thoughts here - 100%) to 0% when he created this thread.
Siren, if you read this later - I told you I'd take care of it. I told you what I was going to do, and how I was going to resolve it. Shame on you for this half story. =p
